Answering such a question merely in tangible terms would be an exercise in futility. Affection isn’t fostered based on physical characteristics, and anyone who thinks otherwise is misunderstanding a not-so-little sensation that we mortals know as “lust”. I could easily give an artist’s description of my ideal mate, down to the smallest blemish and individual strand of hair, and then turn right around and fall in love with someone who possesses none of those features… or perhaps someone with a beard instead of breasts, fur instead of skin, or gills instead of lungs. Love, as the ancient adage goes, is as blind as the Falmer. It cares not for your expectations or preferences, and certainly not for your prejudices.

What I “like” is someone who is compassionate, empathetic, and possesses a great deal of integrity. I “like” someone with an insatiable thirst for knowledge, and who approaches all problems as challenges to overcome rather than hindrances to brood upon. My ideal love is one wise beyond their years, who is the very archetype of generosity, and can hold an audience enthralled with their presence alone. My ideal love is never the center of attention, and they certainly never wish to be. They are honest to themselves and others, both a gracious host and thankful recipient of kindness, and one who appreciates life for it’s virtues and it’s curses alike.

I want to feel dwarfed by the volume and quantity of their good deeds, and always welcome in their arms. My ideal love is the gentle muse who inspires legendary works of art, and who drives the composer to pour themselves wholly into their sound. My ideal love is concentrated joy behind a heavenly smile, who is unfortunate only in inhabiting a world that does not deserve them.
