Bro confused about Zutara and canon, I guess! Or, it's just sarcasm for canon?

Talking about Katara's agency and personality wiped in Zutara, when canon don't care about her at all in The Legend of Korra!

Talking about Zuko's fault that he already fixed and he helped her facing her trauma and get over it, like Aang never did something wrong to her (the non-consensual kiss, the way he shouted at her when he frustrated) and never said sorry.

Talking about Zuko was already in love with Mai, when he literally let her get imprisoned because of him and didn't even think to release her after he got the throne.

Talking about how awkward they were when someone else shipped them, while not wondering why people in the show shipped them, it can't be out of nowhere, right?

Talking about chemistry and build-up, when Katara and Aang's dynamic is just like a babysitter and little brother (even Bryke said it themselves) Eww!!!

I don’t know if the live action is gonna be good or bad but I need the live action to keep Sasuke morally complex.

That complexity is one of the most important parts of his character. Sasuke isn’t just the intelligent, distant, talented rival who lost his family. Those traits are only the surface. What makes Sasuke compelling is the conflict underneath: a person shaped by trauma, grief, love, anger, and the struggle to decide what kind of person he wants to become.

I need the adaptation to show that Sasuke’s distance is not simply him being cold or arrogant. He was a child who experienced the destruction of his entire family and was left with a single purpose that became the foundation of his identity. His desire for revenge, his isolation, and his refusal to easily accept the world around him come from a place of pain and a need to understand why everything was taken from him.

I also need the live action to preserve that Sasuke is not someone who stops caring about people. He forms bonds, protects others, and shows compassion even when he tries to hide it. His contradictions are what make him interesting: he wants connection but pushes people away, he seeks strength but does not simply crave power, and he wants answers because he cannot move forward without confronting the truth.

The adaptation should also keep his ability to question the shinobi system and the history behind his clan’s suffering. Sasuke is not just reacting emotionally; he is a character who asks difficult questions about justice, loyalty, and whether the world he lives in deserves his trust.

What I most want to see beyond the casting description is Sasuke’s humanity. Show the kindness he had before everything happened, the damage caused by his trauma, the mistakes he makes because of that pain, and the growth that comes from confronting those choices. If the live action only presents him as the “cool, mysterious rival,” it loses the core of why Sasuke matters.

Sasuke works because he is not a simple hero or villain. He is a person trying to rebuild himself after losing everything, while struggling with the choices of the people who shaped his life.

I need the live action to keep Sakura morally ambiguous.

I need the adaptation to show that Sakura’s confidence is something she builds rather than something she naturally possesses. She begins the story hiding behind an emotional mask, trying to be the perfect student, the respectable girl, and someone who always meets expectations. Beneath that polished exterior is someone who doubts herself, fears being a burden, and desperately wants to earn acknowledgement through her own efforts instead of relying on anyone else.

I also need the live action to preserve that Sakura is not morally perfect. She can be compassionate, selfless, and deeply caring, yet also stubborn, emotionally impulsive, ruthless when necessary, and willing to make difficult choices. She is capable of showing remarkable kindness while simultaneously making decisions that hurt both herself and others. Those contradictions are what make her feel human rather than idealized.

The adaptation should also keep her emotional honesty. Sakura cries, gets angry, makes mistakes, hesitates, regrets her choices, and continues moving forward anyway. Those moments are not weaknesses to erase—they are central to her growth. Her strength comes from continuing despite fear, guilt, and uncertainty rather than pretending those emotions do not exist.

I want the live action to preserve that Sakura is someone who chooses action over comfort. She dedicates herself to becoming stronger because she wants to protect the people she loves, and she repeatedly places herself in dangerous situations despite knowing the risks. Her courage is not the absence of fear; it is acting even while afraid.

What I most want to see beyond the casting description is Sakura’s emotional complexity. Show the girl who wants recognition but also struggles with feelings of inadequacy. Show someone who can be nurturing and fiercely aggressive in the same moment, someone who suppresses parts of herself to meet expectations yet gradually learns to embrace who she really is. Let her intelligence, compassion, determination, flaws, and emotional contradictions exist together instead of reducing her to a single archetype.

We all remember that infamous intimate moment between Sasuke and Sakura after he got his curse mark. How he was the one who linked his fingers with hers and how he only started to calm down once she held him in her arms. 

BUT DID ANYONE ELSE REALIZE HOW FUCKING CLOSE THEY ACTUALLY WERE TO EACH OTHER. 

THIS IS THE FIRST TIME, SINCE THE LAND OF WAVES ARC, THAT THEY HAVE BEEN THIS PHYSICALLY CLOSE TO EACH OTHER. 

Now people will say that Sasuke was in pain so of course he wouldn’t have the strength to push her away. But HE was the one who linked his fingers with HER. 

He was the one who sought her comfort out and he only calmed down once she held him in her arms after he had linked their fingers. This is Sasuke we’re talking about. Mr. Introvert. Mr. “Don’t fucking talk to me unless you’re a strong opponent.” He’s not a robot. He doesn’t like showing PDA with people he doesn’t have legitimate feelings for. So for him to not only start this physical connection with Sakura when it comes to COMFORT & SAFETY IS HUGE. 

Kishimoto and Sugiyama have stated that Sasuke is very consistent when it comes to his feelings and his actions. Which is why his feelings for Sakura have always been completely genuine and pure. He doesn’t flirt or fool around with girls. He doesn’t actively look for a Girlfriend. But Sakura is different for him and he views her as someone he needs to protect and someone who is important to him. So for him to display this amount of physical desire for comfort through his pain from her is one of the clearest signs of his growing feelings for her at this point in the series. There’s a reason why Kishimoto had dedicated a whole panel to their hands intertwined. He showed their fingers intertwined because this is the first time that Sasuke has sought out Sakura’s love and honestly accepted it from her. This is the first time he was honest about his feelings.

Most of the negatives came from Sasuke side the most. I think things could’ve been executed better on Sasuke side, yeah maybe sakura too?? But mainly Sasuke. I think sakura should’ve went with Sasuke on his redemption arc, traveling. I mean I think it’s a bit crazy Sasuke doesn’t show her much physical affection like a kiss or hugs other than the forehead tap which to me looks like a sign of distance since itachi did it to Sasuke, always distancing himself from him but maybe pda isn’t his thing and turned to forehead tap also into a sign of affection and sakura is just cool with it??

Now I do think gaiden was a bit bad for sasusaku, kishimoto playing into the whole baby mama drama with sakura and Karin because sasusaku and sasukarin shippers were most likely feuding over who Sarada looks like the most. It’s crazy how sakura known Sasuke for so long and didn’t give Sarada an answer about if Sasuke wore glasses or not, then Sasuke also telling her it’s none of sarada’s concern over who her real mother is?!

REWRITE.

I would’ve rewritten of sakura going with Sasuke on his redemption arc instead of staying behind the village. I then would’ve also made Naruto spend time with Hinata while Sasuke spend time with Sakura. The traveling is when they could’ve gotten used to each other presence, sakura could’ve gotten to know more about him as he slowly opens up to her. Then once he was ready for romance he tells her how he always liked her back then when they were 12-13 but obviously didn’t return it because of focusing on his goals and wanting revenge. He also apologizes for the way he treated her and say he isn’t worth sakura love but sakura finally understands him now and apologized for how she may have been "pushy","persistent” or “Overbearing” about her feelings towards him especially when he is emotionally unavailable (generally means a person is unable or unwilling to fully engage in emotional intimacy, vulnerability, or a romantic connection at a given time. It doesn't necessarily mean they don't have feelings.) She just remind him overall how much she should’ve respected that.

Sakura then responded to his feelings and accepted it, I would’ve for sure made it where it’s sakura who fell first but he fell harder. I also would’ve made them be used for PDA, Sasuke may not like it too much but just enough to show his affections but also showing his love through other ways .

Soon I would’ve made Sasuke propose with the red chakra ring Sasuke made himself like he did in the Sasuke story novel and then have their marriage back in the leaf, then they travel and she ends up pregnant then soon once she is a few months then Sasuke take her back to the leaf and stay with her because he doesn’t want her to stress or harm the baby while traveling. since Sarada birthday is few days after boruto’s, then I would’ve kept that sakura gotten pregnant around the same time Hinata did and Sakura and Hinata could’ve gotten more closer then ever because of that. .

Now Sasuke would stay once Sarada is born to a certain age, he still goes in missions here and there but once Sarada gets a bit older she kinda does and doesn’t remember Sasuke that much. Well in Gaiden Obviously Sasuke could’ve just been the type of father and reassured her and cleared things up saying how sakura is clearly her mother.

It’s clear Sarada is Sakura child, but instead of making her ask that, she can still ask about the glasses and I would’ve make sakura have an answer which is no he doesn’t but Sarada was sick and she gotten a pair from a friend(Karin) who is her father old former teammate. But a big question she should’ve asked her is WHY her father is barely home now, and are they really connected, like is she really his wife. I think sakura would’ve responded in the heat of the moment a bit in a scolding way since Sarada kept pressuring her but sakura didn’t know how to put it in words which this will lead to Sarada going around to someone close to them and asking, they will say yes but Sarada feels like she needs more to that.

This would’ve lead to the journey to find Sasuke with Cho Cho by following Naruto. Once shes with Naruto, finds Sasuke and goes on a rant and ask of him and her mom really connected. Instead of Sasuke saying it has nothing to do with her, he reassures her by saying of course they are. Sarada is still a bit unsatisfied and she thinks to herself instead of a simple “yes”, she needed him to be more specific and prove it in actions rather than words. Before sakura gets there and I would’ve kept the part of her apologizing to Sasuke for not making it clear to Sarada but Sasuke saying it’s not her fault. After the whole Shin thing with sakura and Sasuke, Sarada sees Sasuke actually caring for sakura, protecting her which kinda does make her realize they’re connected. Once they’re back at the village gates, Sasuke is going to leave again, Sasuke hugged Sarada, yeah it’s different from the forehead tap but sakura is close to Sasuke and he but tells her how much him and her mother are connected even if they’re far away, he may not show affection through public ways but he still love her and her mother even if he is far away. Sasuke gave a smile to sakura and instead of that fake smile sakura gives, she has a smile that’s genuine and that REALLY makes Sarada tear up a bit.

Later on Naruto then gave her that talk and say how much she reminds him of Sasuke and sakura and compliments her but tells her that Sasuke is out protecting the village and world and that’s why he isn’t home but he reminded her that the strength of a family comes from the love you share, not just from DNA and that Sarada being there proves that sakura and connected which then that makes Sarada inspire to want to be hokage like him, for the sake of family like kishimoto originally had it.

THENNNNN Sarada and Boruto scene stay the same and she goes back to boruto about wanting to be hokage and stuff.

Note: This is a full blown rant as an SS/NH shipper so skip if you don't wanna read. No hate to the part of SNS shippers who keep to themselves and their ship and don't go around outside their spaces getting in other fan's noses on how its "cAnOn". Y'all are chill <3

I thought I was over this but God forbid this fandom leaves an SS/NH shipper be. So here I am, pissed at the same crowd for the same reasons.

So yeah, like the title says. Problematic s*sunaru shippers are forefathers of all problematic shippers, and the founders of that Goddamn modus operandi.

You'd think a fanon ship fans would be more interested in headcanoning and creating a relationship between the characters, create AUs and fiction/art set in off screen scenes: you know, actually go ahead and create a relationship that canon did not give them (especially in case of NaruSasu since Kishimoto canonically made them reincarnated brothers)

But noooooooo. God Forbid these people go the easy route and let the fandom be a peaceful space. They are never content with shipping and making headcanons, no, they have convinced themselves that what they want to happen is actually canon.

The worst part is that they want everyone to accept the same.

This is why they feel way too smug in invading other peoples spaces and leaving comments or ruining stuff.

And boyyyy. This is not your average obsessed shippers. These people are out there making Pinterest twitter levels of problematic.

A Sasusaku art with Naruto somewhere in the background? You'll find someone has replied with a picture of same but drawn a line between Naruto and Sasuke and smuggly written "fixed it :D"

I kid you not, I once saw someone having replied to an artist by smudging yellow on Sakura's hair and changing "she" in Sasu's speech bubble (refering to sakura) to "he" and captioning it "all better"

And on instagram too. "Sasuke only loves Naruto" unabashedly on a Sasusaku post.

"Naruto is only with Hinata because she looks like Sasuke". On a Naruhina post (she absolutely doesn't)

A comment about how Naruto would lose it if Hinata ever died and the reply is straight up "nO bUt hE wOuLd Do It FoR hiS bOyFriEnd" in an NH post

Trasnlation of first comment in 3rd image: "but Sasuke's gf is Naruto"

They feel so comfortable in doing shit like this because they think their shit is canon and they have "proofs" of the same that they parrot everytime someone doesn't agree with them when they make these claims in a post outside their tags.

The truth, however, is that there are no proofs if their ships. They'll just purposefully misread canon and repeat the same 3-4 points to "prove" their ship. They act like they don't understand general context clues which are applicable not just to Naruto manga but to pop culture in general.

Some of my favourite examples are:

1. "Naruto and Sasuke kissed" and its clearly supposed to be a gag for laughs. Both are disgusted ffs. Try explaining that to them and you get hit with "diD ThE mAnGa ExPLiCiTLy SaY sO?"

2. "Naruto said that he isn't Ashura and Sasuke isn't Indra" and the meaning is clearly supposed to be 'we won't make the same mistakes as we are not the people we were in that life anymore' but you'll chose to read it as 'he is saying they aren't brothers'.

To say all this when the whole reason Hagromo told Naruto the story of Indra and Ashura and how they were reincarnations of his sons was to explain why Naruto felt he and Sasuke were trapped in the complicated, deeply loving relationship since past two lives: BECAUSE they were brothers in soul.

Like, if you think Naruto and Sasuke were actually "iN lOvE" in canon, do you think Hagoromo drawing parallels and explaining that they have same relationship as his sons was him suggesting incest between his sons?

3. "He called him his one and only" friend. He called him his one and only friend. Its right there in the text. The NEXT fucking word.

4. "Naruto did not know what brotherly bond felt like. He was confused about his feelings" Sasuke had a brother and he still agreed their relationship was brotherly.

Then, there's also making shit up. Not just misinterpreting canon, straight up PULLING stuff outta thin air.

"Kishi actually wanted narusasu but producers were actually homophobic" is a fine example of this. This one spread like a wildfire and was parroted by shippers across platforms.

There was also not an iota of truth to it. On the contrary, the mangaka actually stated in interviews that he modelled the bond after himself and his twin brother.

Then, there's labelling actual canon as "fanon" because it doesn't fit whatever they actually conjured up (and whole heartedly believed to be canon.)

For them in The Last Naruto is OOC, and in Retsuden its Sasuke. (And they do it in the tags of these material with all that audacity, ofcourse).

Sure, I believe in fans rejecting fandom stuff they don't like (proud Star Wars Seqeuls denier here) but the reason for denying the supplementary material here is because it destroys one important foundation behind them calling SNS canon: it prevents them for interpreting interactions between Naruto and Sasuke in the main manga as them showing each other affection.

What I mean by that is these ppl claim that Naruto and Sasuke did not have many explicitly romantic moments with their future partners. Although there were several moments where they showed care through trying to protect them and looking after Sakura and Hinata, those were few and far inbetween and gave these shippers enough deniability to claim that Nrt and Ssk "cannot express their feelings to each other explicitly" because they are "confused" and the platonic care is actually a covert way of expressing their "LoVe" for each other.

But once additional content is made to flesh on the romantic aspect (again, since kishi cannot write romance) , they act like those materials are OOC, and mock it in the SS/NH shippers tags because "NaRuTo aNd SaSuKe wOuLd NeVeR aCt LiKe ThAt".

Like, what are you even basing that claim on? When in the entire Naruto manga was their love language shown for you to actually know how they would act romantically?

Or does the actual romance seem OOC now because a caring platonic bond was headcanoned to be romantic?

Miss m'am you know exactly whats happening here and playing dumb won't change that.

Notice how I used m'am in the line above? That's because the deranged kinda shippers that do this are almost always women. Women with yaoi fetish, to be specific.

The reason I am calling it a fetish? Because these people do this shit almost compulsively, to the point that the basic ettiquete of letting people enjoy what they want goes right out of the window. Not to mention being so desperate theu start fabricating the canon.

Other than that, the compulsion often shows up in a way that makes it clear they are obsessed with giving the two the same tropes as a toxic yaoi couple, as seen from them making comments like how "sasuke gets jealous seeing naruto talk to other men" (its just Shikamaru or some other friend) "sasuke is actually waiting for naruto" (he's standing with sakura, naruto isn't even in the picture) "naruto was waiting for his boyfriend" (Naruto is with his wife) "the upside down spiderman kiss pose😍" (its a TWELVE year old sasuke looking at naruto after trying his level best to punch a hole in Naruto's heart, and the commenter is a grown ass woman)

Then, there's mistagging shit on purpose to get in other ships tags:

Why was this in the Sasusaku tag again? The reel itself is Sasuke coming out to Sakura AFTER marriage and being absolutely inconsiderate (and actually annoyed) at her for crying.

And mind you, the rest are comments I read under actual clips from the anime or under fan content which was not at all about narusasu. They'll see either of the two characters and immediately go ahead acting like there's an off screen moment happening between their ship and do not wait for a moment before turning the wholesome content by non sns creators into a yaoi where sasuke is toxic and they are cheating on their wives. (Or just straight up make content where Sasuke is toxic and cheating on his wife and deliberately send it in the wrong tags, as seen above)

Now idk about you, but from what I know, toxic, abusive yaoi is not generally obssessed over for its literary insights.

So yeah, fetish.

And the thing is , I'm not even saying SS fans or NH fans are blameless, they cause the fights too (especially us SS folks, I know I am responsible for my fair share of them) , but dear lord. The sheer audacity with which these people do it (changing an artist's art, filterating into the SS/NH tags all that much) is outta this local supercluster.

Like, I used to be a MASSIVE NaruSasu hater, and it was mostly because of their fandom.

To be fair, it had a lot to do with the ship itself too. Fair to say, I hate it.

But my problem with the shippers was never just about that. Like yeah, I called them out over romanticising the bond between Nart and Sask a fuckload number of times but there are other proships that I hate way, wayyy more.

Etc etc.

But I have never really bothered these shippers because they stayed in their corners of the fandom and never intruded and ruined anyone else's experiences, except maybe a tryst or two with ItaSasu.

So safe to say, I wouldn't even bother the SNS shippers and grow to hate it as much if the rabid part of their fandom were not the way they were.
