I want to run this blog for fun, write and do things here in my free time! This is not a job for me + I'm still in studying, so sometimes weekly or even monthly updates can get delayed!

One of my friends is currently studying in the Netherlands, and she always tells stories about how the locals are genuinely way taller than what we're used to at home, or anywhere else.

...Anyways, but now that I actually did a quick search most sources do say Vincent or Theo weren't tall at all. And it seems the game even did them justice. Some sources say Vincent was about 1,7 meters tall or 5'7, and I saw some say he was only 164 cm tall. Or 5'4 in feet. I didn't really find specifics about Theo though.

Obviously, they were born in the middle of the 19th century so things definitely changed in the last 100+ years— So I did a deeper dive.

As a European, for the longest time, I was familiar with the popular belief that the Scandinavians are the tallest. I mean there are a lot of outside sources that prove this, like a bunch of tall Swedish or Norwegian celebrities, or the Danish royal family is also incredibly tall, but somehow all of this made me believe that very tall people almost don't exist anywhere else xd. Anyways, I'm older and smarter now, I no longer think that of course.

But I still decided to look for more interesting information about how the Dutch became among the tallest in Europe in around 150 years!

In general, the sources said that in the early 19th century, Dutch people were among the shortest in Europe, with men averaging just 163–166 cm (which seems exactly around Vincent's recorded height) due to widespread poverty, poor nutrition, and diseases. Then their height began to rise significantly in the late 1800s as living conditions improved, marking the start of a 20 cm growth spurt over the next century. Which is crazy, but they're probably not the only ones since a lot of things were modernized and improved since then.

In Hungary (or in the middle of the 19th century it used to be the Austro-Hungarian Empire), where I'm from, resources said the average male height was about 165 cm. But it also highlighted that Croatia for example, which also used to be a part of the Empire back then had a taller average at about 167 cm. Which is interesting again, because nowadays we associate a shorter average with the Balkans and Southern Europe, while back then they used to be taller.

Anyway, the second industrial revolution started only around the 1870s so it kind of makes sense that's when things only started to improve for the Dutch as well and it seems Vincent and Theo were born a bit before that. And although they both died early, even before the start of the 20th century, the start of WW1 marked the end of the revolution in 1914. And I mean it does make sense, before but even during WW1 technology and other inventions skyrocketed. The Netherlands did not take part in the fighting, but the countries around them were still affected + they gained about 1 million Belgian refugees during that time, and trading blockades were also present.

Factories took off, more people moved to cities for work and soon the need for better housing, social care, hygiene and everything else was developing + in comparison infant death and some diseases minimized because of better living arrangements.

So yeah, in fact Cybird had done justice for Vincent and Theo, making them a universally average height in the game — not that it matters too much in their routes but on the contrary it's funny to imagine if they were to be their original height. I think our MC is supposed to be about 1,6 m tall which sounds like an average for modern-day Japanese women, but imagine she arrives at the mansion and a lot of the guys are around her height or even shorter? It would be a funny scene.

Or maybe they acquired a few extra centimeters when they got turned into vampires? I don't know if this conversation or info dump ever occurred in the game, but when Comte revived them were they able to choose their 'vampire forms'? At what age would they like to be reborn? Because some of the guys died early, but some others died rather old. I know the game depicts them differently, and they don't have discussed ages, in fact, they're supposed to look the same age and I guess being a vampire does have its quirks looking kind of ageless, but still, it's fun to think about. And it raises a lot of other funny questions in me about their transformation and the possible alterations in their human appearance transitioning into a vampire.

But back to their heights, this makes me think more, whether they became taller or not, that low-key the purebloods as the ones who can turn others, living for eternity, and the genuine superhuman strength they possess, they would naturally have a bigger & taller build as well, no? Imagine Comte and Leonardo towering over the others in the mansion, being like 2 meters tall, while everyone else is of normal height. Or especially in the streets of 19th-century Paris the two of them being giants for the current age xd.

But they never talk about MC or Sebastian either, if I remember correctly? I remember the game sometimes making comments on how MC as a Japanese woman is deemed pretty unusual being in Europe in the 19th century — I admit sometimes I forget she's ethnically supposed to be Japanese, as well as Sebas lol —, but I don't think they made comments about their height. Because if we go down this path I analyzed a few paragraphs ago, both of their heights should be very surprising too.

If I remember correctly Ikesen made a comment about this in someone's route, but I have no idea who it was. The warlords' heights were upgraded too I'm pretty sure, but MC, who's probably also around the same general height as the Ikevamp MC, would be deemed very tall for the Sengoku age as well.

In other words; what would their job be, if they were living in modern times?

(This is just a silly thought process I had with all 17 warlords, enjoy!!)

‌Nobunaga... It's hard not to imagine him in some kind of boss position. He could be the CEO of any big corporation. But specifically, I feel like him being the head of a bank or the stock market is more in-character. Y'know, your boss's boss and the most feared person in the field he works in lol.

‌Hideyoshi would be a great teacher in my mind. He likes people, likes to take care of them, and people like him too. I think everyone could use a Hideyoshi in their life, especially as a teacher. But alternatively, I can also see him as a social worker.

‌Masamune is your favorite hot, single celebrity chef. Looks good, has good jokes, and makes good food too, he's a keeper! ...In many TV productions. Truthfully, he would star in The Bachelor too, because he needs a girl. And the cameras love him c'mon.

Maybe it's the genuine history buff in me talking, because at school, I was one of those kids who loved history lessons and never skipped the material. However, I think it would be actually cool if our MC was somewhat similar to Sasuke in terms of historical knowledge. Like recognizing the warlords, or realizing how she changed the course of the events when she saved Nobunaga in the beginning. Or when she meets Kenshin and Shingen in the prologue and realizes they're alive as well, when in reality they shouldn't be.

Or it also makes me think how Ikesen might not be entirely historically accurate on the behavior of some warlords and whichever route you're doing MC debunks it to herself with something like "Oh, that's not how I learnt it in class." or "Well, that's something the books never taught me."

I can also see her panicking, because she changed her original history and when Sasuke tells her they opened an alternative time because both of them saved warlords that should have died long ago, she panics even more. And then like the first few chapters would be about her coming to terms with her concerns about an alternative history she doesn't know how it will end.

Also, imagine how funny it would be if in a few routes where she does end up telling the warlords she's from 500 years in the future, even if Sasuke told her not to, she just pulls a "You should be dead btw." card. Or "You will betray Nobunaga." "You will ally with your enemies." I think it would make a few hilarious scenes.

It would be a different take on the whole game obviously, but I don't think it would be less fun.

Or even if she knew the basic history to some extent, maybe not on Sasuke-level of course, but just the basics about the period to get by.

She would still have all her personality and her Hot Warlords magazine, and I don't think it would take away from her canon profession as a fashion designer either, she would just be more knowledgeable about her history.

I remember back in the days when Vlad and the others were freshly added and I already played Comte's route, a very specific idea planted itself in my head. (This is going to be very self-indulgent probably oop—) I remember searching up some unknown characters from the game (as in their real historical background) and just reading about them for fun. I did know a lot of them, but for example, I never heard of Saint-Germain before, or that Vincent Van Gogh had a brother, and so on. But. When Vlad was announced I remembered studying about him in school. I remember learning about it quite a lot, since I'm Hungarian, I spent a lot of history classes learning about Hungary in the Middle Ages and all the kings that formed our empire, as well as a lot of fights with the Ottoman Empire, Transylvania, and Wallachia.

Since historically Wallachia is the oldest, main historical part of Romania, before Transylvania and others got added, also because we've been bordering with Romania since forever, I remember being really excited that a character originating from all this is present in this game. And I was really excited to learn his background. I remember learning that he was born in Sighișoara, or as I know it, Segesvár, which even by today's means is in Transylvania — but obviously he's fully of Romanian descent. Despite a lot of Hungarians living in Transylvania as well, it has always been its own thing, it became a part of Hungary way later... And became Romania's territory even later, as we know it in the present. Since Hungary lost the First World War while Romania was on the winning side, and about 2/3 of Hungary was annexed to the neighbouring countries. Anyways, I'll keep it short with the historical teachings lol.

I remember reading about Comte as well, since I was clueless, and while he was born in Germany, but had French citizenship and all, his father was supposedly Francis II Rákóczi from Transylvania. Who actually has Hungarian origins rather than Romanian, and he's considered a national hero in our history even today. He led a very important Independence War against the Habsburgs between 1703 and 1711 as prince and imperial prince of Transylvania, which he ultimately did not win but he came pretty close to it. Now, it has been known that he had multiple wives/marriages and multiple kids, but a lot of documents say the same that one of these first kids was named Leopold (or in Hungarian Lipót) Rákóczi, which seems to match Saint-Germain's original name. Honestly, all the things I read about him seem very confusing, saying that he was kidnapped and taken away from his birthplace early on to Paris, but was taught in Italy for quite a while but it also says that he did claim to be a Rákóczi, no matter how hard they tried to erase his original identity for some reason. Or some documents suggest it was to protect him because of the Habsburgs. In some documents, it says that his birth name was Rákóczi Lipót Lajos György József Antal, which is a very Hungarian name, but since he used a lot of aliases and never really concealed his birth parents or his origin, his full name could be a stretch.

But to slowly wrap up this post, when I loosely connected the dots between Comte and Vlad, even their identity, like being pure-bloods and sworn enemies I was very excited and actively hoped for a third pure-blood Hungarian character in the future... I just thought it would make sense and there were plenty to choose from, especially around the era when historically Saint-Germain was alive. Now bringing back Rákóczi would be quite weird if historically he was Comte's father... (Bc ngl he was my first thought until I put the puzzle pieces together. Francis I Rákóczi is also a very famous one from the same family, but that would be his grandfather so it would be weird too. Buuut searching for someone similar, István Báthory would be a good choice for example! He was also the prince of Transylvania a bit earlier in the timeline than the Rákóczis (he was also Voivode of Transylvania), as well as the King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania. He'd surely be an interesting persona to mull over.

...Or someone from around the same timeline is Countess Erzsébet Báthory, who was a simple noblewoman accused of many messed-up things, as well as her servants. Which did get them executed as they proved to be true and she also ended up imprisoned in the Castle of Csejte in her own residence. The supposed cruel actions would definitely fit a vampire character. Obviously, she's a woman, but it's not like Cybird didn't do a genderbend character before lol. Although Erzsébet, translated to Elizabeth, is clearly a female name, I don't know how they would skip over that... There's probably no way, let's be real.

After nearly 2 months I've made the Ikesen guys too! Let me tell you, this was the hardest & longest one tbh. I had to make asian portraits only and there were 17 guys in total, so yeah, it took some time.

(It's also kind of funny how - unintentionally - I did my 3 main Ikemen games in a certain order; the way the suitors' number grow each time lol.)

I'm not sure if I'm as satisfied with this batch as I want to be, despite the time and effort, but all together they look nice! So let's get into it!

• Oda Nobunaga

(It was a big debate. He looked pretty good in several attempts, but he's again; one of the older guys, and to me he looked a bit too young in my other tries? This turned out to be the best in the end, he has a small smile at the corner of his mouth and his eyes are the sharpest in this one, like Haguro hunting for his next pray. His jet black hair was smooth, but his eyes are edited, obviously. Overall I think it's a pleasing sight, he looks devilishly handsome too haha!)

• Takeda Shingen

(He was one of the difficult ones. As I said with Keiji, there were several auburn attempts, slender eyes and manlier jaw. But he looked too young for Shingen. I tried mixing it with Kennyo's avatar, since I was done with him by then, and it kind of helped. I'm not sure about his face all together, maybe his eyes are too small? Or his mouth his weird, that he's not smiling perhaps? I don't really know, but I'm happy that I could achieve his thicker eyebrows - in his design they're specially highlighted and it adds to his many manly charms!)

• Kicho

(It was a difficult debate with myself, again. At some point I confused myself and wasn't sure about his features and expression. Also, somewhere along the editing he started looking European, so it got concerning for a second, but his eyes and face shape survived, which is a critical part in his design. In the end he came out Asian though (I hope)! I must admit, I put a little bit of purplish tint into his hair, because it was so similar to Nobunaga's, but other than this and his eyes, I didn't touch anything on his features! He's a bit more feminine, but he's also one of the 'painfully beautiful' characters and he's canonically a woman in history, so I think it's okay!)

• Mouri Motonari

(I was afraid of his character, because his design is really Latino in my opinion. Some kind of male lead in a Mexican soap opera haha. Especially because of the darker skin and white hair combo, I was concerned that the contrast would not show or I won't achieve such a clean look. But I think, despite my worries, he's one of the best edits from this bunch! And I'm really happy that I got his secretive and mischievous expression right as well! Just like his dangerously gorgeous, blood red eyes!)

• Sanada Yukimura

(He was one of the easiest! He doesn't have a complicated design, his face is quite simple; child-like, young, but also determined and earnest. The brown hair and brown eyes were a good combo as well, and they worked together nicely. At some point I tried giving him a smile or something, but then I just left it at the neutral expression. Like with almost everyone, since the program changes so much about their hair and face shape if you want to make the portraits smile lol.)

• Naoe Kanetsugu

(He wasn't hard, but choosing between the two semi-finals WAS hard. On one of them his hair was better, but his face was very off-track and didn't even look Asian. I don't know how in-character is he for real, but I think he's okay? Maybe a bit too generic, but still cool? His face is stern and straight, his jaw is firm and his eyes are sharp. A faithful subordinate of Kenshin, I think he's a decent try!)

• Toyotomi Hideyoshi

(I must admit, I'm the least satisfied with him. There's just something weird with his face? Or his smile? And he's hardly Asian, but at the same time he looks Asian as well? Just me? I think his hair is nice, its color is pretty though. And his carefree, pure, welcoming smile is really precious in my opinion! Fitting for Mamayoshi! I tried making a stern, strict expression too, but it looked really weird on him, again because the program converted his face so much that it just looked bad.)

• Imagawa Yoshimoto

(He was an early edit, and I'm having second thoughts, mainly because of his hair color. It has a blueish tint, I think?? Or I'm the only one seeing it, because I desperately tried mixing some blue into his hair but this time I failed miserably oof. But I do love his face and features, plus his sincere, relaxed smile! He's pretty, like a fine piece of art! Also he somehow looks both young and mature at the same time. I have no idea how I achieved that.)

• Ishida Mitsunari

(The angel, the most precious out of everyone! He looks so pure and like he fell from heaven! I don't know, he's one of the most satisfying edits in my opinion. I just love it so much how he came out! Maybe his hair could use some work and his mouth, but I feel like his face is spot on for some reason? Maybe he's not as happy as he usually is, I guess I captured a serious Mitsunari this time haha!)

...Whew! I'm happy that I got this done too, finally!

But I'm genuinely unsure, because as it already showed in my Ikevamp edits that I kind of suck editing Asian characters, it's simply harder for me...

But I pat myself on the shoulder for the effort and time! And they're such a big group, I'm happy that I could squeeze this in!

School season started again a month ago, so my free time is over, but I'm trying to post content! I'm just incredibly slow, as always! > <

• Maeda Keiji

(So, at first Keiji was Shingen's prototype, if you will. Mainly because of the hair and its color. Also his basic features were good; like the smokey, smouldering eyes, nicely curved eyebrows and mouth, and stronger cheekbones and jaw. (Idk, I always imagined Shingen having really nice and defined cheekbones in real life haha.) But in the end, he looked a bit too young, I guess? Shingen - historically - but even in the game IS one of the older guys, so I wanted to make him even more mature. And then I looked at this prototype and because of the hair's shape Keiji came to mind and in the end, I think I did the right thing.)

• Kennyo

(I admit it, he was - surprisingly - one of the easiest ones. I was genuinely worried that he'll be hard to recapture because of the harsh scar and grimace on his face, and again; the older-man look. I guess I just got lucky with the bases? Other than his scar that I had to draw on, I didn't touch up anything. His design is the most Asian-like in my opinion with the 'everything black' theme going on with his hair and eyes lol.)

• Tokugawa Ieyasu

(He wasn't as hard either, than some of my other edits, but I couldn't get him right the first time. He was okay, but really, not the best effort. His face was just off - it was way too soft. Ieyasu is young, perhaps one of the youngest of them all, but he has an uninterested scowling expression on him almost all the time, so I guess that makes him appear more mature in general. But I'm definitely satisfied with him, and his emerald green eyes look super nice!)

• Uesugi Kenshin

(Well, he's one of those that I'm not exactly sure about. At one point he seems accurate, but then just so off-track of his game avatar so I genuinely don't know what to think. He has a harder stare and more grown-up look and features than Ieyasu, so they are not the same base. Although, while making them, I was thinking of using them for each other, since they are very similar with the blonde hair and cold, uninterested stares. But he came out pretty and kind of unreachable, noble-like! And they definitely describe him as so in the game so it's a win?!)

• Sarutobi Sasuke

(It was a two-part thing again, since he's that ONE character who wears glasses lol. Editing on specs in a way that looks good AND appropriate for the character is hard. Although for Faust, I think I really did a good job and probably won a lotto or something that it came out so good. But I think Sasuke isn't as bad either! His eyes and hair are fairly simple, but achieving that stoic, blank expression was the real deal in the end. But it worked, he looks smart, like a real moderately awesome ninja!)

• Date Masamune

(He was difficult, especially since I had to imagine the eyepatch on him every time. It makes a big difference, trust me. This isn't the original edit of him, on second tries I always do a better job to be honest. By then I realized that his cheerful and reckless expression was missing and tried to give him a wider smile and sharper eyes and he indeed came out super handsome with those plus touches! His eyepatch is drawn on by me again, but even that can't ruin this image!)

• Mori Ranmaru

(I struggled with him the most, I feel like? His baby-like features, overly cheerful smile and big eyes was hard to achieve... Somewhat. I don't think I did him justice. Also, I admit that I mixed female prototypes into him, mainly because of the hair, but also since in the game they mention it a lot of times that he's considered really beautiful and feminine. All-in-all, I think he's precious nonetheless!)

• Akechi Mitsuhide

(I'm also not quite satisfied with him, because I think at some point I had a better base for his face and hair, but in the end when I tried mixing with that one or just reconstructing it, it didn't come out so well. And in itself that piece wasn't good enough, so yeah, that's why we ended up here. He could use some more work, but I wasn't exactly sure where? From a close up he feels decent though, so maybe it's some kind of black magic. I also like his expression and his floofy white hair, I'm happy that I could achieve such a nice, pure color!)

Yeah, we’re doing this. I've probably put way too much thought and time into this. But at this point I have to share it. Why the Ikesen guys, you ask? Because they have the most traditional clothes, especially seeing that nowadays western-style fashion is present everywhere! Let's get it!

How did this post even came alive? Tbh, I was just browsing Pinterest and one of my secret hobbies is that I like to thirst over fashion runways and designer stuff. Not that I would ever buy them, or have the money to buy them, but I still enjoy it for some reason haha. So one time, I was looking at an outfit and suddenly a warlord popped into my head. That's when I decided that I'll do a full detailed research on this. Inspired mainly by their armors and color palettes. (First I thought about drawing the outfits myself, but my drawing skills are questionable, so I edited them instead. My editing skills are better, I promise.)

Also, as I said; these are from fashion runways, so almost everything is from luxury brands and/or quality designers. So not the 'typical' street fashion, because I figured it would be more interesting this way. Plus since I needed a lot of jackets and blazers for the guys, I'm thanking Balmain, because most of these are from their shows XD.

Takeda Shingen

At first this wasn't quite the outfit I invisioned for him, but after I completed it... You know, it's for the better. He needed something big, something voluminous. I also got mafia boss vibes, like with Nobunaga and this time I really went for it with the coat. The one-piece suit underneath gives a nice contrast and introduces a new accent color! This isn't really in Shingen's palette, but it did good for the whole picture. I was hesitant once again about the boots, but other shoes would have looked wrong so, Shingen will slay the high lace up boots! I added a subtle accessory to his big coat and a hat as well. I feel like he would look good in it!

Uesugi Kenshin

I found a lot of big, fancy fur coats for him, but I ended up using the smallest and the least fluffy out of them haha. Kenshin is elegant and graceful. They mention it all the time when he's fighting or when they talk about his mere presence. But he's ruthless as well. So something 'painfully' beautiful was the idea. It's a mix of styles and textures with the big fur and checkered jacket, but the long satin suit with a trail underneath. Plus black dress pants. And I may or may not have given him discreet high heels. He needs to look taller next to Shingen lol. He got leather gloves as well, it was to make the outfit complete!

Akechi Mitsuhide

I know his official nickname in the game is the kitsune, but c'mon! There so many cool clothing pieces with snake designs! I. Just. Had. To. The simple shirt and long skirt-like pants underneath his green coat are to tone down the outfit, because of the pattern. He got some fancy leather dress shoes, in sleek black color as well! Then the coolest piece in my opinion is that big, bedazzled snake that is hanging around his neck! I also wanted to put something to his waist, to make a contrast, then I found these funky glasses with similar snakey design, also some resemblance to the biblical term 'serpent in paradise'.

Kicho

Well, Kicho is canonically a woman in history. So I dared to give him a more feminine silhouette and garments. His outfit is the most subtle and simplest beside Kanetsugu's. (And mostly my style, I would gladly wear this! XD) The pants' material and its color shifts slightly, so it has an elegant feeling! I also gave him discreet heels, unintentionally this time haha. The top is a shorter winter coat, made from a thicker material and I have to admit that the detail in the front wasn't there at first. I cut it out from a dress and edited it on and it was a really good idea! Plus Kicho got a small Gucci handbag, because he's THE beauty king lol.

Mori Ranmaru

I don't know why I associated him immediately with butterflies, but it's a thing now! At first I found this adorable coat/poncho and I knew I had to use it! But I needed something under it, so this simple white turtleneck seemed a good contrast. Then the slightly loose pants just looked too cute with the boots! So overall I think it's and adorable, lively outfit, just like Ranmaru! It's not as colorful but I can definitely imagine it on him!

Ishida Mitsunari

I admit, maybe I've gone a little overboard with him. Again I'm not sure why I associated these long, dangling pieces of fabric to his outfit, but Mitsunari would look absolutely precious! It's a bit chaotic over there, I made it from a lot of asymmetrical coats, dresses, suits. Also the colors are a bit random, but I think it could work? He would make it look good, any day! There's also a graceful vibe to both the outfit and Mitsunari!

Tokugawa Ieyasu

I had different plans for him at the beginning as well. I wanted a darker color palette and a 'skater-boy' theme, if it makes sense? But in the end that's how it came out. I feel funny about the printed pants, but he rocks it! I had some problems with the white turtleneck under the asymmetric coat, it still looks weird the way it's under it, but I hope it's not that disturbing! The colors are mostly muted, but that dark, wine red does good for the full picture!

Sarutobi Sasuke

I'll be honest, I feel the least accomplished and proud about this piece but I tried! I wanted to mimic his ninja outfit, but spice things up with this so-called 'tech-wear'? Tech fashion, I think that's how they call this kind of style. I had this idea because it matched him as a ninja, as an astrophysicist and a genius in general haha. I tried to put some more color into it, than the muted grays, I hope it helped!

Kennyo

I really wanted to keep the traditional feeling of his robes this time! I think I gathered good materials for it, but the top robes look a bit weird and all-over-the-place. The pants are baggy, and maybe the black is too much, but it doesn't need to be colorful, it's Kennyo we're talking about haha. Don't ask about his shoes, I just went with it, it felt right. The purple cape thing behind him was a last-minute idea, but I think it was a good decision to bring back his another main color, beside this dark yellowish shade!

Well, this was quite the work!

Especially writing the descriptions, but I definitely wanted to do them, to show what were my intentions and ideas! I hope it's understandable and not that repetitive!
