So this is actually a character from one of my stories that I have been itching to try writing /again/. This is the first wife of Daivat, the only wife he loved, the wife he lost and had return as a spirit that accompanies him forever. Her character is one I haven't full figured out yet either... Obviously, she is his wife, and a comforting spirit, but there are some aspects of her that eventually become malicious (but that's what you get for existing in limbo for thousands of years, perhaps). I haven't decided yet. We'll see. But, she deserves her own drawing as she is a major character. I also just picked up this sketch again about a week ago and decided to finally complete it. This is actually based on a digital sketch I did in the summer of 2016, when she was only a few years out of my mind, and I dropped it.

First, I am going to toot my own horn by saying that Facebook believes there is a real face to tag in this image. But, this image was created from me wondering how on earth I draw a face looking upwards, so an uncommon angle, one that I never draw because I find it very difficult. But as I practiced and needed to focus on the shadow to help convey the angle and made it more emphasized, I decided to go with a more dramatic image. I did this entire thing in about an hour. I am also trying to practice working with texture on my computer, so this is a good transition piece. Also, listening to soundcloud rap and Sevdaliza helped set the mood on my end... And yes, I draw this by staring in a mirror to understand how on earth this angle works. I am also still very into the look of dark hair and clothes outlining pale flesh.

Mixed media drawing from a sketch I did a few weeks ago. I took the original sketch and fleshed it out digitally to fit how I see it in my head. I tend to like my pencil drawings better than my digital drawings, so I decided to make my digital drawing look like one of my pencil sketches-- I feel like it adds more life to the drawing. When I originally sketched this, I did not imagine doing a final piece or even had direction, but it more came to life as I worked on it, encouraging me to move it to my computer to do it full justice. I've been really into the idea of drawing pale girls with dark hair as well as have long been fascinated by images of individuals with halos, especially women, and with the halo glow effect around the eyes. With this piece, I especially wanted that halo glow to intersect with the pupil-less eyes.
