It makes me sad to think that I don’t have any real friends. Now that I’m in my 30’s, it’s become apparent that I’m lacking that 1 real “best friend” or group of real girlfriends. Just people I know, or people that I thouht were "best friends", and after time, as it turns out...were just my drinking buddies in my 20's. I have GREAT family & cousins and a couple girls that I’m friends with. But no one that would drop everything for me if I truly needed it. The people in my life, I have to call and go out of my way to make plans with. Or they call me and want me to come see them. Recently, I went through a very traumatic time in my life. People say… “I’m so sorry, if you need anything let me know”, or “if you want to talk, I’m here”. Well no, I don’t want to talk. And no, I’m not going to let you know that I really need a friend. I want that friend that will show up at my door with a bottle of Pinot Grigio (or Jack Daniels if I needed something stronger) and just hang out with me. Or bring dinner, so I don’t have to worry about it. I don’t want to always have to go out and meet someone or go to someone else’s house. I’m not lazy. It’s just the principal of it. Anyway. I’m not trying to be unappreciative of the people in my life. It just makes me sad and feel like I’m missing out on something special. Anyway…that’s the end of my rant.
