Was rewatching Sarah’s promo and remembered she has a cousin named pierce!
Imma drop some of my Lore Head-Cannons of Sarah and Pierce:
Sarah’s parents died at sea/skyway while they were sailing to Skull Island from Scrimshaw. She was so young when it happened (3), she hardly remembers them.
After word of her parents death Sarah was raised by her Uncle Remington. I get the feeling Remington built quite a name for himself back in the good old days but once Pierce was born, he decided to put his pirating days behind him.
Based on the way he sounds in the promo quest, I think Pierce was really timid in their childhood, always getting picked on until Sarah shows up and goes feral on everyone.
Growing up Pierce always looked up to Sarah (still does). When they were younger she'd go toe to toe with anyone who'd give her a reason to. Her relentless spirit was something he really admired. But all admiration quickly morphed into fear. Sarah started to fight people that were older, bigger, and stronger than she was. Which meant coming back home with a black eye and bruises. And even though she'd always shake it off, Pierce hated seeing her like that.
Scrimshaw is home to many rat gangs I feel like it’s only a matter of time until Sarah gets pulled into the wrong crowd. Like maybe someone picks on Pierce that Sarah doesn’t stand a chance against, and then she gets some members of the pack she’s a part of to, to help her “deal with this bully”.
The more she gets involved with [insert whatever rat gang name], Pierce tells his dad about it, and Remington flips out.
I could definitely see Sarah starting to distance herself from Pierce after this incident. Before the two were inseparable but now, Sarah doesn't walk home from school with him anymore, no more walking around the market for freshly imported cheese, etc. On one hand Sarah can't risk Pierce ratting her out to Remington but on the other hand, she doesn't want to him to get warped up in her criminal life.
I do think at some point her life in the gang is taking a toll on her and Sarah confesses to her Uncle that she's still in the rat gang. Around this time is when Remington tells her there's still time to make things right and even promises her his sword and that he'll train her.
Fast forward Sarah is lowkey a crime addict and leaves her first gang and joins their rival gang. <-- (she does this quite a bit)
She later gets caught by the gangs she's left and tries to pay them off, by stealing from her uncle, in the hopes that they'll leave her alone.
But lowkey they don't and then they break into their home and that's when Remington disowns her, and Pierce and him move to Flotsam.
Something something, she meets the pirate and you know the rest.
Holy Shit that was a lot... erm i'm not checking my grammar sorry!
Also let me know if I cooked or it you think I totally botched Sarah's character. Lowkey I love the amount of lore Pirate 101 gives for companions because its the right amount of information that I can take and go crazy. But lowkey sometimes I worry that one day I'm just gonna put too much to the point I should just turn her into an OC or something lol.
