idk how the hell iāve run a blog calledĀ ābotanyshitpostsā for almost four years now without ever thinking to talk about this but in high school my little brother wanted a pet that wouldnt die so we got him a moss ball for $8 at a pet store and he named it tiki and it lives in this dedicated plastic tank at our parentsā house even though weāre both at college now. usually it doesnt do anything but over the past two weeks of winter break our family has watched in horror as it has gone about the process of slowly and ominously rising from its usual position at the depths of its abode to the top, where it now floats with gravel bits stuck to it from literal years of not moving. my mom has moved it to behind the sink so now whenever i go to wash my hands in the kitchen i have to face it and im scared

update: she sank to the bottom and stayed there for days and i thought this story was over until i WALKED OVER TO THE SINK JUST NOW

honestly this used to upset me a lot as a kid until my mom, whoās worked with horses for many years, told me about how they train the horses in those movies to do things like falling down, kneeling, crawling, or stay laying on the ground after they fall. and how itās so tough to train a prey animal to do these behaviors and how hard both trainer and horse have to work. so now whenever i see a horse take a hit and go down in a movie, i just thinkĀ āfucking superb you funky little horse actorā

hey so one time i met someone who was drawing a photo-realistic picture in ballpoint pen and complimented him on it so we started to talk about art and how nice it made us feel to make art etc etc and he was likeĀ āwhat about you? do you draw? draw a wolf on thisā and i was like GLADLY, I DRAW WOLVES ALL THE TIME and spat this out in 20 seconds and i dont think ive ever seen someone go from pleasant friendliness to incomprehensible disgust quickly before. he told me it wasĀ āa farceā andĀ āan insultā andĀ āa wasteā that i hadĀ āsevere, unhelpable emotional problemsā that caused me to be ādetached from realityā andĀ āhurt everyone around meā thats why i drew wolves so badly and anyway i still have it and intend to get it tattooed on my body someday.
