I don’t remember exactly how we met, but our friendship began because we shared similar traumatic family backgrounds. Over time, they told me they felt more like a man than a woman and changed their identity. I supported them for a long time and thought of them as a brother, but as we both started healing from our trauma, we found we had less and less to talk about.

Our friendship eventually faded, but I’m sure that if we ever ran into each other again, we’d sit down and have a coffee.
