Young Cathy and Heathcliff find a half staved unconscious Jane Eyre on the moors and poked her with a stick to see if she's dead. She isn't roused by their proding and they don't care enough to try and help her so it isn't mentioned in either book.
“The only writers who have any peace are the ones who don’t write. And there are some like that. They wallow in a sea of possibilities. To express a thought, you first have to limit it, and that means kill it. Every word I speak robs me of a thousand others, and every line I write means giving up another.”
— Stanisław Lem, Hospital of the Transfiguration

The fear of how you are seen, the fear of what you are, is solved by accepting it all the way: you are seen in all possible ways at all times, which means you really are all possible beings at all times.

albums of 2020 — cape god by allie x
“My younger self, who lived for 10+ years feeling like she was cursed for something she must have done wrong - Cape God is an exploration of various experiences she went through when she didn’t have a voice. This record is dedicated to her and to you. You, who can’t find simple words to explain your pain. You who feel like an outsider for life. You who feel disconnected from your body and dissociated from your feelings. You who the boys make fun of. You with the pot belly. You with the buck teeth. You who are told you can’t, but deep down inside know you can. You who are ‘sick’. You who dream quietly. May you find solace in this record and in your own arms.”
Contender to be one of the best anecdote ever said
I'm really really impressed by "big stick" off the new muna album. a political song can easily fall flat in general if political music isn't your whole thing, and it would be so easy for the connection from like fashion influencers to US imperialism etc to sound conspiratorial or just offensive. but imo the build is really well done and each step makes sense. from fashion and body influencing to "you want a nice house with a picket fence" and then well of course you want the police to protect your neighborhood, right? you want the military to protect your country, right? it just makes sense.
