deep rose, without any screechy sharpness, just beautiful petals upon petals in dark red. i'm easily won over by an opening like this; if the rose note is the highlight, in the shadows of the picture painted by this scent more and more complexities get revealed. a slight metallic glint, a whisper of velvety patchouli. a very sophisticated rose that unfortunately fades fairly quickly on my skin; i only got a few hours of wear time out of it before i had to really get my nose very close to the skin to detect it. but i did it, again and again, just to experience its loveliness. i've seen others call it a 'gothic' scent but it's not dark or foreboding at all to me, just very pretty. despite the longevity issues, this is something i would wear again, and often.
