The Pain of Miraculous Ladybug

Edit: I saw someone say this about another fictional character and I realized it was crazy because it applies to so many male fictional characters that it's a little uncomfortable.

Obviously I immediately thought of my favourite character ever (/s) and then remembered two episodes.

The first one was Glaciator, in which he tells L//dybug he's okay with being her friend only to go home and mention to Pl//gg that he's okay with it "for now". This implies that he expects her to cave in eventually at some point and he wouldn't be okay staying her friend forever.

The second that I thought of was L//dybug. Obviously a kid's show will never hit the same level of horror and introspection as a movie like Obsession, but this episode is kinda the closest we get to the movie.

In the episode, M//yura makes a clone of L//dybug and makes her tell Ch//t N//ir that she actually has feelings for him now. We've seen time and time again in the show that L//dybug does not feel that way toward him, so this sudden change of heart, almost like a flip was switched over night, is incredibly suspicious. He then asks "aren't you in love with someone else?" Because he knows damn well this is too good to be true and knows she's acting off, to which he is then placated with a shitty excuse and proceeds to try and kiss her. It reminded me of a dumbed down version of the date scene in the movie, or the scene where he Googles his question because he's suspicious but just brushes it off anyway.

This isn't the point though. The point is that the real L//dybug then shows up and tries to talk some sense into him. She tells him that he's falling for manipulation and that he knows she isn't actually in love with him, that he's falling for wish fulfillment. He then attacks her and sides with the version that professed her love to him, because he's already proven that he'd choose a version of L//dybug that has synthetic feelings for him over the actual Ladybug. AKA The Wish.

It's only when M//yura shows her face that he has no choice but to concede that he was wrong. It's worth noting that he doesn't actually apologise and in fact tries to kiss the real L//dybug again at the end of the episode.

Obviously I'm not saying the characters are the same, Bear is an adult and in a horror movie, but the whole "not caring about someones autonomy as long as they love them" theme is present in both pieces of media to an extent.

So many of my posts and comments are analysing and defending her. I don't want to fall into an echo chamber but it's relieving kinda 😅

They're... still a duo? He's the only other one that is allowed to show up without being called on, has been there since the start, and apparently has some thing where Ladybug becomes unbalanced without him or something? Because of creation/destruction idfk.

I ended up getting this ending on Dispatch. The image is a screenshot of a video, but rest assured I did get this ending myself.

Apparently I 'neglected' Invisigal because I didn't like that she was sexually harassing Robert and told her off for it every chance I got. I sent her on missions when it was needed, I did not 'neglect' her in any way. The only time I couldn't send her on a mission was when she willingly fucked off on her own accord.

Bringing this back to the topic of my blog - Invisigal literally reminds me of AdriChat. When Ladybug pushes him away for his unwanted advances the fandom (and show) says shes 'neglecting' him. When AdriChat makes the conscious decision not to show up to work (Kuro Neko) the fandom says she's the one who 'neglected' him so of COURSE he wouldn't want to show up!

The fandom also frequently says AdriChat has every reason to become a villain because of his 'neglect' from Ladybug.
