So o have a little pull organizer with 8 spots in it, I put my daily ones in the 7 and then some extra and in case of emergency ones in the extra spot. So it’s like 6am, and I can’t sleep, and I’m taking my meds while laying in bed. Opened the container while on my phone and just put the pills into my mouth then sipped some water. That’s when I realized I was feeling about 8 pills in my mouth instead of my daily 3. Of course I immediately panic and spit a mouthful of water and pills on my pillow. Cool, cool… not fucking dealing with this rn. Someone remind me to refill that extra slot tmrw

Today smelled like the fall. It was cold outside with an embracing warmth indoors. I felt embarrassingly emotional, and cried while hugging my arms tightly.

I get home, sobbing and breaking down and then my fucking favorite bracelet snapped and I lost all the beads.

I just want to fucking crash out and rip my throat out

I kept forgetting my nighttime antidepressant so I set an alarm where the sound was a recording of me saying "HEY. TAKE YOUR FUCKING PILL" because I thought it would be funny. It was funny about three times, and then it started making me mad and I'd dismiss it right away to make it stop. So I handed my phone to my partner, who made another recording sweetly saying "Okay Shira, it's time to take your medication" and now I don't get mad anymore and I take my pill. The "compassion over punishment" camp has gotta get something wrong one of these days

What helped me write trauma better is remembering that the nervous system learns predictions. If danger used to come after quiet, calm can feel threatening. If kindness used to come with a price, kindness can feel suspicious. So healing is not just “they know they’re safe now.” Healing is the slow, annoying, deeply unfair process of teaching the body that the old prediction is not always the present truth.
