I’ve been looking at online discussions about obsession, and I think something that a lot of people are missing is the fact that a lot of things in the “relationship” between bear and Nikki are things a lot of women have been through. After seeing the movie with 2 guys friends plus my boyfriend we walked out of the theater and they were all speechless. It made them uncomfortable, but with my bf a lot of the little things didn’t make sense totally till I mentioned I’ve been through a lot of the same stuff as Nikki. He didn’t know why he was uncomfortable with the movie, then I said how genuine and real some scenes were. A LOT of the movie was just completely horrific and not common— but then there’s the little moments that do hit home for abuse survivors.
