Inktober Day 10

So, a week ago I got back from a few weeks holiday in Australia. It was AMAZING. I didn’t think I’d be able to hold up much ‘cause of the heat, but I survived - hah! I loved it so much, but the only thing that puts me off from going again is the torturous flight length.

My friends and I managed to cram in so much. We went to Kalgoorlie where one of them used to live, so we met the Australian family, and then back to Perth to explore. Then on to Cairns for the Great Barrier Reef. Holy shit was that awesome. I can’t find my underwater camera, though = = it’s gotta be in ONE of our cases somewhere… And finally, for the last of our trip we went to Sydney for a few days. Spectacular holiday, would go again in a heartbeat if they invent teleport machines.

At least i finally started to draw the charms I was itching to do (the first one spawned out of probably 80 valenwind fics I trudged thru)

Okay, here’s the WIP Silver Elite Secret Santa pic (that is super late, gosh) for @mintflavour! :D I’m still not finished ‘cause I’m going to color it, but I wanted to post how it was coming along!

The gang is all hanging out at the bar, and Papa Bear Barret decided to take a pic. Some people in the pic didn’t get the memo. Actually, Tifa looks like she’s the only one that actually heard him say “smile, dammit”. Yuffie WANTED to be in the picture, but Vincent’s hair is being… Vincent’s hair. There is a bit of subtle Valenwind going on because that is @mintflavour‘s ship of choice. :)

8D  THE NOISE I MADE WAS NOT HUMAN. it was the sound of fangirling all over the floor. Thank you. Honestly. This is just gorgeous and I really wonder how is it I deserved to get such a beautifully done piece.  I went to the front door where there was natural lighting, and admired all of the little details. It’s so smooth I swear it was printed! Your penmanship and shading is incredible. 

ooc: I was asked what drew me to Rufus/Tseng by @mintflavour as they were my Secret Santa, so it’s I thought it was going to be interesting to ah…. how long this possibly may be! To be honest, after spending an hour on this and only just finished with writing about Tseng -  I’m not even sure if I can summarise this properly without going into novel-length reasons.  Essentially - I love Rufus & Tseng as polar opposites that once they stop tearing each other’s throats out by the end of the OG - a balance is struck between them.  SO, I will break my favourite dorks down to some points:  Tseng: Controlling, Spiritual, Morning Person, Black Suit, City-Born (Midgar), life-experience.  Rufus: Manipulator, Secular, Night Person, White Suit, Mountain-Born (Icicle), book-smart.  Both are in very different yet significant positions of power and they (imo) actually cannot function without the other.  There is also serious power play aspect in that I thoroughly enjoy, but that’s just a preference on my part when it comes to these two.  They’re also both incredibly flawed in the aspects I listed above, which is why they balance each other. For example - Rufus’ secular views are slowly more opened by Tseng’s spiritual ones, while Rufus shed light on Tseng’s blind faith.  Before Crisis:  For the current timeline I roleplay - Tseng was tasked to pretty much be at Rufus’ side almost 24/7 because the blond was starting to basically file down the bars of his very big shiny cage in the tower. He was a teenager with a lot of power, and an expectancy to know exactly what to do with it despite being a very sheltered individual - which a rather horrible pressure to put on someone so young.  The Turks also wanted Rufus on their side because he was the future of ShinRa - and of course, other departments would love to get their hands on him, but the Turks were there pretty much from the start.  I am much too fond of the idea that Tseng also slept with Rufus as a means to keep him from wandering.

I have to apologize, for all I have is a sneak preview of your present. You have to know that, 1) I take way too long drawing, 2) I’m my own worst critque so I will change and change a picture until it looks right, hahah (Tseng’s lazy eye will be corrected, but do have a laugh), and 3) I was delayed, unfortunately. I really wanted to get it done for you today = = So, please forgive me, but you’ll have a present soon 8-)

My last message had asked what it was that drew you to Tseng/Rufus, I was very interested, so if you still want to answer, please feel free, your answers have been great to read, I’m a nosy bastard. I admit, my appreciation for Rufus’ character has increased since doing a lot of browsing (as it had for Tseng last year, thanks to Argent-noir, lol), trying to get ideas for your present. I hope it will be worth the wait.
