It sits bad with me that in a female dominated field men make the majority of the top roles. I'm sorry, (egg sample I've seen) no male teacher aids, very few male teachers, sooo many male head of subjects/years and principles.

Studying in classrooms that are finally not majority men due to the subject but all the teachers are suddenly male now I'm advancing in the subject. The high paying jobs in the field are more male dominated. It seems to be the case for a lot of industry, even in areas with mostly woman, the higher you go the more male dominated (even if they don't reach over half it's still a growing number proportional to the woman).

I am so pissed. I don't dislike men, I just wish maleness wasn't seen as what gives jobs value. Part of me just thinks and feels that I know that if males made up the bulk at other levels those wouldn't be so devalued. Teacher aids make a more direct impact on pupils, I'd send a kid to a school without a principle over one without teacher aids every time.

As always, the Gender Census is getting a great response from Tumblr - 34% of respondents so far! Thank you so much, I am really grateful for all the signal-boosting. 💜 Now that the response rate is slowing down after the initial peak, my main goal is reaching new people and under-represented groups.

The most common country entered is the USA (53%). In the USA over 60% of the population are aged 30 and over. [Source.] In the Gender Census at the moment it's 25%, and the average age is only 26. Since the main way we reach new people is by word-of-mouth, the survey needs your help.

The following are really effective for getting the word out:

Flyers! On noticeboards, on tables, in eBay parcels, etc. Printable PDF here, or Google Doc here for easy copying and editing. This is a top method for reaching people who aren't super-online.

Sharing this Facebook post in local LGBTQ+ groups. Facebook is particularly good for reaching under-represented age groups.

WhatsApp forwarding. We have a WhatsApp channel here with regular shareable posts that you can drop into LGBTQ+ groups or share one-on-one.

Lock That Fucking Thang Up

I think I need to start spending actual money on food. It dose help to have pre made meals and I wish we had fridge space but we don't. I ate a lovely wine broth thing and I had a functional brain. Forgive me, a rarity. Part of me just hates that food costs that much, it didn't use to. I just need to realise it's not going back and if it did that is probably a worse sign than prices going up. It still worries me that a doller can't buy anything these days. You don't even see gold coin donations these days, they always ask for $2 now.

Nothing reminds me that the people who are doing aren't posting like looking up basic things on pintrest and being met with unusable inspo. I just want to see peoples pegboard storage ideas and I am stuck endless scrolling past aesthetic clutter. I love that for other people.
