“ i don’t know, wearing expensive stuff is kinda fun. especially expensive shoes !! i mean—i don’t really wear a lot of fancy stuff normally but if i’m willing to spend a lot of money on something, it’s usually shoes. it’s a little gift to myself and it makes me feel good !! haven’t you ever head of treating yoself ?? ”

“ well—there really is no such thing as a summer bod. you shouldn’t think like that, maisie. every body is a summer bod when summer comes !! and there’s nothing wrong with being a little squishy, you know. i’m a little squishy, too. you still look amazing, i know it. ”

minnie: well with like help from people who know how to build houses but i also will help

“ that’s so gross, ” minnie muttered, brows furrowing as she stirred her milkshake with her straw, leaning back in her own seat. “ is there any way you can talk to your manager or something ?? maybe you can get all these guys banned forever. because—no one should be able to get away with something like that. ”

“ i promise i’ll give all credit where credit is due, ” minnie nodded, placing a hand on her chest. “ okay well, let’s do it then !! it’s the perfect day to go swimming and swim suits will only hold us back. so what if you eat a lot ?? that has nothing to do with anything. ”

“ you’re dumb !! no that’s not true, i’m sorry. ” it took her a moment to realize why maisie was laughing but once it hit her, she started to laugh herself. “ that’s good, i might steal that !! anyway—you really don’t have to if you don’t wanna, i was mostly joking. but if you DO want to try it, i’ll do it with you. and i promise i won’t peek. but i bet you look amazing. ”

“ i don’t know either, but it just DOES somehow. i do it all the time so i really hope no weird creeps have been spying. i’ve got really high fences so i don’t think that would be a problem ?? and—my parents are in cabo for the week so they wouldn’t catch you either, which has happened to me and it was horrifying. ”

“ why not ?? haven’t you ever done it before ?? it’s fun !! ” the girl laughed, head leaning back slightly. not that she was going to push it or anything, but she thought it was a pretty good idea. “ i’ve got a pool at my place, if you want. i won’t make you strip or anything, don’t worry. ”

lips pressing together, minnie shrugged, looking up at the other from her spot sitting on the curb. “ i dunno—it’s too hot today to think about anything. my brain is totally fried. ” her brows furrowed for a brief moment before shooting upwards, as if she’d just been struck by a genius idea.” skinny dipping !! ”

“ astrid, for sure !! ”

“ uh—this guy evan in my film class, kenny from english, eric from greek lit, kevin that works at starbucks, bartender eric, and a good 95% of people i know. ”

“ yeah, chickens !! ” she nodded, a little too enthusiastically. “ i love ‘em. i mean—people get tattoos of their dogs and kids and stuff, right ?? so mine would be like that but my chickens, instead. i don’t think i’d really suit tattoos, though. but i think they’re REALLY cool. i bet yours just look—totally awesome. ”

“ holy cow, an actual line ?? that’s insane. i mean—i don’t really know anything about comic books or anything but that sounds a bit excessive. the only long lines i’ve ever really had to deal with are for the good clubs and starbucks when a new cool drinks comes out, ” she spoke slowly with a little nod. “ you know what’s better than sleeping, though ?? chugging a red bull to wake yourself up and going out to dance and do shots. it’s the best way to relax after a stressful day at work. i think, anyway. i don’t really have a job, so— ” she mumbled with a dismissive wave of her hand. “ not much. i would be going a lot better if i were out dancing though, ” minnie spoke in a sing-song voice, brows raising. “ i know of like three parties we can crash. ”

“ so strong and so amazing, yes !! waking up that early sounds like actual death so anyone who can do that is strong and amazing, in my books. really—you would ?? what song ?? or do i get to pick ?? ” her brows rose slightly. “ oh, those ones are the best !! so satisfying. sometimes i think i should make videos like that but i feel like they wouldn’t be any good anyway. well, maybe you can eat a taco or something instead ?? ”

“ you have to wake up at three am ?? you are so strong and so amazing, i could never ever do that. i mean—i didn’t happen to catch it but i bet it was awesome. asmr is like, the coolest, isn’t it ?? have you seen the one with that lady just crunching on a pickle really loudly ?? it’s a bit weird, but it kinda makes my mouth water and makes me crave pickles. maybe you could do that on your show too. ”

“ oh my gosh, that’s—literally the wildest thing i’ve heard all day. it’s really good that policy exists otherwise i feel like i’d have like a thousand tattoos by now and i would definitely regret all of them. it would just be a bunch of chickens, probably, and then i’d look like a crazy chicken lady. which—i kind of am, but i don’t want that to be my only thing. ”
