Friends to More (Xu Minghao)
Hello again!! We’re onto the last 2, wow. I am so thankful for the love these have gotten!! I’m gonna update and then go play Spyro with my brother, so everyone have a good weekend!! Moving onto our favorite little elf. -Erin
You met this bean in dance class shocker
Your second year of class he was the only boy in your class
But this is also the post-cooties stage and pre-middle school stage, so no one really cared
He was just Minghao from dance class
One day you just couldn’t get something right
All throughout class you tripped over your own feet and were just really struggling to get to the right position on time
And your recital was that next week
So by the end of class you were so frustrated that you were on the verge of tears
Your teacher managed to talk you down, and tell you that you were doing great, just today wasn’t your day and next time would be better and they were confident you would get it what a good teacher
This was also a day your parents had to come late to pick you up, so you just sat in the lobby waiting for them, still in a mood
Minghao saw you sitting there, looked out the window to see his mom’s car waiting, thought for a second, and then looked at you
“Yeah, they’re just running late today.”
“Oh yeah, mine too.” He sat down next to you, setting his bag on the chair. “Do you want me to help you with that move? You seemed to struggle with it today.”
“We can slow it way down? I’m sure then you’ll get it.”
“Okay fine, but I’m not going to get it”
15 minutes later when your dad picked you up, you almost had it, just a few things to smooth out here and there
Minghao was very proud his mom wasn’t even mad that he stayed after for 20 minutes
You practiced it at home, and by your next rehearsal you got it right the first try
Your teacher gave you a high five and was so proud wow
After class Minghao came up to you excitedly and you were both so happy you got it he was kind of nervous for you at the start of class
Since then you’ve been friends
As you moved up in the dance classes another boy named Chan eventually joined your classes, so eventually Minghao wasn’t the ONLY boy you always practiced stuff together, even had a couple routines together for recitals
But you two became quite the pair
Just mischievous enough to be considered when something happened, but not enough to ever really get in trouble
You didn’t go to the same school until high school, and when your parents realized you were going to the same school they were both a little nervous. Excited, but nervous as heck
But it turned out that you were mostly key: MOSTLY good kids in school
Soonyoung may have taken the fall for some of your pranks though and you felt a little bad about that
Once you two started at the same school, you became inseparable
It helped you had a lot of the same classes
Seriously your entire class knew if one of you was around, the other was probably somewhere close
You guys even did tech stuff for the plays together
He mostly focused on the costume side of things while you spent your years back there in the makeup crew
So even then your paths crossed a lot
On the bright side the actors always looked on POINT because of you two Jun owes you guys a lot okay
You joined the school’s dance team, but Minghao did not
He learned he prefered different styles of dancing, so dance team really wasn’t his thing
It was like the one thing you two didn’t do together
He still came to games you danced at though so support his friend and as time went on he started to have friends who played those sports so two birds with one stone
Literally your entire dance team thought you were dating
“Guys, no Minghao and I are just friends”
“Then why does he come to everything we dance at?”
“Because we’re friends and he’s a supportive human, I guess?”
It didn’t help when one of your dance team friends started dating Chan
Because everyone knew that Chan and Minghao were friends
Therefore Chan was recruited to figure out exactly what was happening in Minghao’s head ”WELCOME TO THE TERROR DOME” sorry I just watched Parks and Rec again
But as much as Chan tried
Because just like you, in Minghao’s head you were obviously just friends
He did occasionally think that if the situation would arise, he wouldn’t necessarily say no
But he knew you, so he knew that wasn’t going to happen
Your team was dancing at a big soccer game
do dance teams go to soccer games I feel like they would???
It was nothing out of the ordinary
Just a slightly larger crowd than you were used to, but you could handle that
It’s not like you had stage fright or anything
So you were all were doing your routine
And during on of your turns, you slipped and fell
You didn’t feel like you hurt anything too bad, just your pride
You tried to push yourself back up to finish the routine, but as you pushed up a VERY sharp pain shot through your left arm, causing you to yelp in pain
A couple of your members noticed and quickly ran to you, helping you up
Your assistant coach took you to the nurse, who said it looked bad so she sent you to the hospital
So Minghao was at this game where else would he be
And considering he was watching you, he noticed the second you went down
He, like you, thought you would just get back up and only be a little embarrassed
But then you tried to get up and couldn’t and the boy started to panic a little bit
“Wait, what’s wrong with Y/N…” Chan had said, but Minghao had already gotten up when he saw the assistant coach taking you off the field
Unfortunately, since it was a big game, it was a little crowded
So when he got to the nurse’s office you were already gone
He didn’t know what to do, so he went back to find Chan, who was sitting in his same spot and gave him a very concerned look
“Are they alright?” He asked as Minghao sat down
“I don’t know I missed them… They either went home or to the hospital… I really hope it’s just home…”
He literally texted you the rest of the game and after until you responded
So on your end things went surprisingly quick at the hospital
They wrapped up your arm and determined it was nothing too serious, you just couldn’t dance for a couple weeks and had to rest your arm
You got home a little bit before midnight, and immediately put on pjs and curled up in your bed, attempting to adjust to your one-arm-ness
Your dad came into your room a couple minutes into an episode of a show and handed you your phone
“Your friend dropped off your bag at the hospital, you should text your boyfriend back he’s been texting you all night” He said as you looked at him in confusion
“Boyfriend? I don’t have a…” You looked at the phone “MINGHAO IS NOT MY BOYFRIEND”
Still you smiled and opened the messages, sent scattered throughout the night
Oh my god are you okay???
Y/N please tell me you’re okay
Alright you probably just went home
But you would have texted me back if you just went home
You also would have texted me back if you were okay
Please text me back when you get back from the hospital
I just got home so if you need me I’m here

You know the one with the realization of who they all actually are
I still don’t get why this one is your favorite
If they let you you should try and put it on in the hospital
If you are you better not be responding because you’re asleep
You really need to sleep more
That’s probably why you fell you were too exhausted
God I don’t know the last time I worried this much
Seriously though just a message that you’re okay
Then you have to go sleep
It’s all going to be fine
Okay good night still text me even if I’m asleep
Even if I’m probably not going to sleep until I know you’re okay
In all your years of friendship
Had you seen Minghao panic
He was the calm one in your friendship
And now he was panicking over you
Hey Hao, sorry we just got home. I’m gonna be fine, my arms just gotta be wrapped up and I can’t dance for a while :( it hurts tho so I don’t see myself falling asleep any time soon but I have my shows to keep me company :)
To your surprise he texted you back within 30 seconds
Y/N I told you you should lock it when I’m not coming over what if a creep comes in
Literally 15 minutes later he was knocking on your window, opening it from the outside
You sat up on your bed with a grin
“You know, if you want me to go to sleep coming over probably wasn’t the best idea”
He didn’t say anything as he just walked over to you and hugged you
“Dude, it’s just my arm, I wasn’t going to die or anything??”
He just hugged you in silence for a bit, then you felt him take a deep breath
“I was so scared, I’m just glad you’re okay”
Suddenly everything felt different with him
The way he looked at you and the way he hugged you and the way his breathing managed to finally calm down at the sight of you being okay
He pulled away from you and adjusted so he was sitting next to you, not really looking at you, you not really looking at him
“So what we watching?” He asked, clearing his throat a little bit, both of you thankful your room was dark because you are pretty sure both of your faces were burning trust me they were
You handed him an earbud and pressed play, trying not to think about the fact that Minghao had somehow kept an arm around you
Your parents found you both sound asleep the next morning and you’re dad had too much fun scaring the heck out of Minghao
