Mind of an Entertainment Junkie

I figured out on August 5th, Masamune && Ritsu figured out who each other was officially in chapter 1. Ritsu was hired into Marukawa some time in July. Ritsu got drunk on November 24th, && of course woke up on the 25th forgetting everything that happened between him && Masamune that night ( chapter 5 ). On February 18th, Ritsu confessed but the rain drowned him out. The next day, the 19th, he tells Yokozawa that he does love Masamune ( chapters 9-10 ). March 16th, Ritsu’s mom collapses. He officially turns An down && Masamune overhears their conversation at the hospital ( chapter 12 ).

April 22nd, Ritsu collapses for the first time in front of Isaka. Gives Masamune a heart attack when he gets the call && takes him home ( chapter 16 ). May 21st, Haitani ‘confesses’ to Ritsu && says he’s serious about him, not true due to wanting to steal Ritsu away from Masamune ( chapter 20 ).

I do admit, the onsen chapters are waayyy to ambiguous that I didn’t even bother attempting to figure out exact dates. BUT I do know the duration of the onsen chapters ( 21-23 ) lasts for a duration of a 15 day period. Probably happens from the end of May to the beginning week of June. I dunno how the process of editing manga quite works for a magazine, but here I am giving effort.

June 12th, Ritsu concludes that Haitani isn’t interested in him BUT Masamune. So they officially become rivals ( chapter 24 ). Masamune && Ritsu have a proper conversation before you know… the hanky panky. Bathroom time. Second blow job. Woohoo. The whole nine yards. On June 25th, Nao confesses his love for Ritsu to Masamune, in which Ritsu awkwardly appears to hear the last portion of conversation ( chapter 26 ). Thus begins Masamune’s insecurities full force. June 29th, Nao finally confesses properly to Ritsu’s face ( chapter 27 ).

On July 9th, Ritsu allows Nao to stay over for a few days, until he can get proper arrangements for a place to stay. Momentarily Masamune’s in a good mood, until shit hits the fan. From getting drenched, Ritsu’s cold gets worse on July 10th. By July 12th, Ritsu collapses for the second time, this time in front of Masamune ( chapters 28-29 ).

Have I wasted my hours away ???? Of course I have. I figured this out starting with Chapter 6 because Masamune’s birthday is December 24, so just had to do math && figure out how many days pass in each chapter. Cannot read recent chapters, so I end at 29. Full run down under readmore

Bruce adopting and training these kids is absolutely the only thing standing between them and even EARLIER deaths than the ones in canon that they all basically just…refuse to let stick.

Like, these are six incredibly determined little dumbasses.

Dick Grayson: breaks out of juvie and runs around rooftops tracking down the mob boss that ordered his parents killed in order to ruthlessly avenge them when he’s EIGHT.

Jason Todd: at age twelve, is caught stealing the tires off the goddamn BATMOBILE and upon being caught, his first instinct is NOT flight, its HIT THE GODDAMN BATMAN WITH HIS TIRE IRON.

Tim Drake: as early as age ten, spends his free time running around Gotham’s rooftops and back alleys stalking Batman and Robin with his clunky camera and absolutely no prior experience or training in either acrobatics or surviving Gotham’s back alleys.

Cassandra Cain: Upon learning Lady Shiva is her mother, ignores Batman yelling CASSANDRA NO and tracks down the most lethal and feared woman on the planet and bullies her into training her further, with Shiva going okay but then we gotta battle to the death and Cassandra going sure, makes sense, when do we start.

Damian Wayne: Early in life, is ordered to hunt and fight a bunch of dragon-type creatures. Adopts one as his pet. Finally meets his father, who does not trust him. Steals the Batmobile. Is fired from Robin and forbidden to leave the Manor for his protection while there’s a hit on his life. Calls himself Redbird and resumes Robin duties, citing that he was only forbidden from leaving as ROBIN, specifically. Is sent home during an attack on the city by a zombie army. Turns around and wades into the zombie army on his own. Etc, etc.

Duke Thomas: At age ten, the Riddler shuts down all the power in Gotham and says he’ll only restore it if bested with a riddle. Duke hears this and decides, this is a job for…Duke Thomas. Around age fifteen, he’s put in the foster system after his parents are affected by the Joker’s mind-altering gas during an attack, hears that some of the Joker’s victims have been found wandering around the sewer system that’s noted for being home to like….a cannibalistic crocodile villain, among other things, thinks well, guess I gotta go personally cover every inch of Gotham’s sewers on my own, by foot. Accidentally stumbles across a plot to bomb all of Gotham and decides, this is a job for…Duke Thomas. Etc, etc.

In summation, the Batkids’ shared family trait is Absolute Dumbassery and a Willful Disregard for Self-Preservation, and no, they do not accept constructive criticism. Bruce’s training them all as his partners was 40% fatalism, 60% Hail Mary. 

He actually tried getting Dick to choose colors for his costume that would actually blend into the shadows, and eight year old Dick went nah, I’m gonna stick with bright red, yellow and green, thanks though. 

He actually tried teaching Jason Todd how to prioritize speed and evasion against bigger opponents, and 5′4″ Jason Todd went nah, I’m just gonna punch ‘em, thanks though. 

He actually tried sending Tim home when Tim first showed up, and Tim went nah, I’m just not gonna do that, thanks though. 

He actually tried getting Cassandra to be more careful and selective about inserting herself into every single dangerous situation she came across, and Cass went, sorry, lost my phone when I weaponized it against the bad guys and also I’m in Hong Kong right now about to face off with my killer mom, see ya when I get back, bye. 

He actually tried benching Damian repeatedly, and Damian went, LOL. No. 

He actually tried stressing to Duke the importance of leaving dangerous situations to the professionals, and Duke kept showing up at every dangerous situation in Gotham and being like oh hey, so weird we keep running into each other. 

A couple hours ago I was looking for a quote from season 7, and I came across something interesting that has had me snickering ever since and I thought I ought to share it with y’all.

Littlefinger’s always been a cautious man, right? He’s always played a very long, very slow game. And yet, he started rushing his manipulation of Sansa in season 7. Why?

Because Tyrion is alive and back in Westeros.

I’ll backtrack a little first. Skimming through Sansa and Tyrion’s chapters in the first 3 books makes it very apparent that Littlefinger controls Sansa’s life from the moment she steps foot in Kings Landing. He’s the one who caused the entire conflict between the Lannisters and the Starks, because he wanted Cat and couldn’t have her. He could have her daughter, however. So Ned Stark gets killed off, and she’s suddenly a Lannister hostage. Then he convinces the Lannisters to end her engagement with Joffrey, but then the Tyrells try to marry her off to their eldest son, and who’s the one who tells Tywin Lannister? Littlefinger. Then she’s married off to Tyrion Lannister and who’s the one who ensures she runs away from that marriage? Littlefinger.

Outside Tyrion’s chambers the two people in charge of Sansa’s life are Tywin Lannister and Littlefinger. She has no power and no influence, and every time somebody shows her a kindness or attempts to take her outside Littlefinger’s reach something happens to hinder those plans.

Because Sansa is Catelyn in Littlefinger’s eyes. She’s just younger, richer, more beautiful and more fertile —and it’s disgusting AF.

She’s also more easily manipulated.

Until, of course, he betrays her to Ramsey and she suddenly doesn’t trust her very much.

But it doesn’t matter, really, because she was raped and she’s unlikely to just take another man again (especially when the last one had his face bitten off by his own dogs on her command) so he’s got time. Lots of time. To slowly get under her skin and to isolate her from the people who love her.

Makes Pepper Potts CEO of Stark Industries [he trusts her more than himself to run his company]

“Dead for almost 20 years, and still taking me to school.” [could take credit for the New Element, but emphasizes he ‘re’discovered it]

Lays on the wire in The Avengers to save New York City when redirecting the nuclear bomb into the wormhole [after Steve said Tony isn’t the kind of man to do that] 

“I…I’m just a man in a can.” [said while vulnerable]

“Actually, he’s the boss. [points to Steve]  I just pay for everything and design everything, make everyone look cooler.” 

“Like the old man said. Together.” 

“Ultron. My fault.” [takes sole accountability for the Sokovia disaster, even though Bruce also helped]

The entirety of Civil War in general. Tony believes that the Avengers should have oversight. Handing authority of the Avengers to a Council is not the action of an egoist who thinks he’s always right (!!!) He’s basically admitting they can, and have, made mistakes and need to be put in check.

Asks Peter for a plan on how to rescue Strange in infinity War – and that’s the plan they use. 

Goes with Quill’s plan on Titan in Infinity War, even though he didn’t seem to have a high opinion of the guardians. 

Tries to stop Strange from handing over the Time Stone in Infinity War, even though that’s what spared his life.

I mean, time and time again, Tony tries to be a team player, listens to others, and exhibits self-deprecating behavior. When he was dying in Iron Man 2, he went on a destructive binge to force everyone who loved him away so they wouldn’t care when he was gone. I mean… !??!?!? Like, ego? Where!? 

Iron Man is more than a suit of armor. It’s a metaphor for who Tony Stark is as a person: cold and hard on the outside, but warm and soft on the inside. He uses his arrogance as a shield to protect himself–to deceive people into thinking he’s not as vulnerable as he really is. 

It reminds me of this quote: 

“The difference between ‘Iron Man’ and some other movies is that there’s no spider bite; there’s no magic bullet where a hero is born. We had to build him. We wanted people to remember that there’s a person inside that suit, and it will hurt if he falls.”

It boggles me when that’s lost on some. Like, yeah, Tony’s a messy character, and he’s certainly a hard pill to swallow because he can be downright acrimonious, but he feels so deeply. He’s easily wounded. He’s one of the most emotionally-driven superheroes. That’s why everything he’s done has taken such a toll on him. It’s why he suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder. It’s why he has anxiety attacks. He wants so badly to do good and save the people he loves – even at the cost of his own sanity and comfort. Every time he fails, it destroys more and more of what little self-worth he has.

Smooch-tober #31 - Kiss of Life

Good Morning

He’ll never tell her this, but Katsuki loves waking up to Ochako in the morning. She’s not much of a morning person, so usually he wakes up before her. Usually his shifts start earlier too, so while she has the option to be lazy, he certainly does not.

Now they’re married, he gets to see her every damn morning and he’s never felt fucking happier. Stupid emotions, stupid feelings.

His eyes tiredly open, and he’s greeted by her. Sometimes she’s got her back facing him, her brown hair curling against her neck, splayed out over her pillow. And other times she’s facing him, her mouth slightly open, her pink cheeks relaxed. She’s the portrait of perfection.

This fucking girl.

Somehow he’s so affected by her. Somehow his heart feels twenty thousand times bigger when he looks at her, as if the organ is about to explode just like his quirk.

They haven’t been married long, and maybe that’s what makes it so great, but Bakugou can’t imagine this damn feeling going away. He’s felt it ever since he blushed because of her for the first time… then kissed her for the first time, and touched her…

It’s always been so frustrating because these feelings don’t make fucking sense, but he can’t fight them anymore, not after he fought them for so long. Now he’s content to be… as long as she is with him, he can’t complain.

This particular morning he’s greeted by her face, lips slightly parted, hair looking drunk as it sticks up in multiple directions. Idiot.

He tries to fix it for her, sliding his calloused fingers through her brown locks, but really he just makes it worse. He snorts at his handiwork, her hair a complete tangled mess.

Instead, he leans forward and brushes their lips together. She hums softly, her eyes fluttering open. “Katsuki,” she whispers, and he loves the sound of her voice. It’s hoarse and tight on in her throat, but she clears it and immediately scoots closer to him.

She knows he has to leave for work, but knowing her, she most likely is trying to trick him into staying in bed with her. “Just five more minutes,” she mumbles, pressing her note against his chest.

“Oi, Round Face,” he grumbles a hint of frustration in his voice. Old habits die hard and he can’t seem to shake the use of his favorite nickname for her.

“I know, I know,” she sighs. She rolls towards him and presses her lips down against his, gently stroking her finger over his chin. “Mmm, have a good day, Katsuki.”

He loves hearing those words. They fuel him to make it through his days, no matter what the circumstance; they give him drive on difficult days when villains run amok; they give him comfort when things are slower during the day. He looks forward to coming home and seeing her and only her.

For a moment, her brown eyes meet his red ones and he loves the way her tired eyes look at him. She brushes her thumb over his cheek and kisses him again. “I love you.”

With a sigh, he steals one last kiss. “You too,” he mutters, reluctantly pulling out of bed.
