Frogs In a Tea Pot

Prompt: Lily frustrated with James advances finds herself in the Library, the one place James Potter and Sirius Black are temporary ban. Regulus Black sick of all the annoying Slytherins trying to buddy up to him for his families name finds himself in the Library as well for peace, there he sees Lily and decided to join her. Barty who was looking for his favorite goth finds the both of them together and joins. Voldemort AU where during school they work together to figure out how to defeat Voldemort, using clues of his past footprints there in hogwarts.

The Library. A common ground of silence among the castle, like a watering hole in the wilderness. Lily, like many other Gryffindors looking for solace away from their noisy neighbors, enjoys the place the most. It's been her home ever since James Fleamont Potter swore to the moon and back that Lily would be his wife, his girl. The idea sours Lilys tongue in a way that has her despise sour things.

Lily appreciates all other aspects of James Potter, don't get her wrong. When he isn't a swooning idiot, she can admire his sweetness and loyalty to others, the fact that he tends to be protective of his mates, funny occasionally even. Yet despite these qualities, that are like the good parts of her least favorite meal, Lily has never really experienced them with out the backlash of James asking her out, therefore any kind deed he does for her seems like she has to repay him with her hand.

To escape Potter, Lily typically hides in uncommon areas, the top of the bell tower, herbology classroom, some secret spaces that are littered around Hogwarts, and the Library, where James is currently banned. Unlike the library at the moment, James Potter always was able to find her, no matter how obscured the spot was, it was sickening, and she hates it.

At least at this moment, she can sit in silence, with her book, at the Library, where Potter is temporarily banned.

Regulus hated his house mates, they were always the same. Praise the dark lord, hate muggles, climb to the top, kiss his arse. Of course there were a few gems in his house, Dorcas, Barty, and Evan, but what are three compared to hundreds. Especially if two where in a different house, and one was Merlin knows where. So to avoid snakes that wanted to eat him for their own benefits, Regulus will hide in the Library.

Regulus walked to the far back of the Library, a series of poetry in hand as his shoes tapped against the wooden floor, adding to the ambiance of the magical book haven. Upon approaching his usual resigned spot, Regulus spotted the fiery wispy hair of his greatest muse, Lily Evans.

Regulus had been a fan of the muggle born since his first year, he had once spotted her spell some random Slytherins mouth shut quicker than his mother had done to Sirius before. Instead of pure fear at the sight of someone, his mother would swear to have stolen magic, harming a peer of his quickly and powerfully, Regulus was in awe.

Regulus had since admired her from a distance, painted portraits of her, snarled at her names being tarnished by his jealous peers, spared her his icy glares, and crazed Barty. Regulus pity her as well, it was no secret of Potters doting, it was annoying to see even for him. Perhaps it was due to the fact Regulus just hated James Potter.

"Mademoiselle Evans, do you mind if I join you?" Regulus spoke aloud to the young witch, her green sharp eyes snapped to him in a instant, and Regulus felt himself freeze in burning guilt and awe.

Lily arched a brow at him, a pout forming at her lips. "Black? Why on earth do you want to do that?" Lily questioned him, a vicious tone in her words as she placed her book down.

Regulus raised his hands from where he stood behind the chair. Regulus understood what she met, he was aware his brother ran his tongue around Hogwarts stating he was a hater towards all muggles and their wiccan children. "I am quit sure you have the wrong idea, I feel no hostile emotions for you Mademoiselle, contrary to popular belief." Regulus told her coolly, his french strong in his accent, he bit back a snarl at the though of where the popular belief started.

Lily looked at him highly suspicious, her glare sharp and hot, burning through all of Regulus's iced walls and shields. She sat in silence waiting for him to tell her he is lying.

Regulus simply placed his books down and pulled at the chair in front of him, joining her at the table. "In fact, I must say I admire you, I have for a while now...," Regulus confessed, pausing as a snort escape Lily, instead of fixing her a glare at her rude outburst he continued. "You strike me as very powerful upon my first arrival at the castle, since then you've proved yourself better then the most at our school countless times, I'd be a fool if I didn't admire you." Regulus bowed his head towards her softly.

Lily stared at him awe struck, out of anything happening today, Regulus black telling her that he admired her was the least expected. "You aren't pranking me are you? I never took you as the type to do pranks Black." Lily crossed her arms still not believing him at all, it was just too uncanny to process.

Regulus looked at her with a neutral expression, he sighed and opened his book. "I'm afraid you've mistaken me for my brother Mademoiselle." Regulus stated simply, absorbing himself in the writing of Edgar Allen Poe.

The title of the book shined in silver, Lily's eyes fell to it immediately. She stared for a moment, processing the scene in front of her. Regulus Black, the assumed high headed pureblood prince of Slytherin, reading from a muggle author, right after telling a muggle born he admired them. Lily smiled softly as she realized she had the wrong idea about Regulus.

"By all means Black, the seat is yours." Lily accepted his requesting, even though Regulus had already sat himself down with her.

Lily didn't notice the way Regulus eyes widen and a small smile grew on his pale lips, she kept reading her own book, basking in the comfortable silence the two of them created.

Barty searched high, and Barty searched low, yet no matter where he searched Barty couldn't find his familiar foe. His greatest enemy Regulus Black, the only man that made his heart skip over a lamb. Oh who is Barty lying to he isn't a bloody poet. What he is, is mad, where is his Black cat?!

Barty grumbled as he stomped through the snow, heading inside the castle, he hexed a couple of eyeing Gryffindores on the way. Barty was in a fouled mood, his darling leash, was GONE, and no one cared! Barty sniffled as he went inside the library, the warm air kissing his frozen cheeks.

Barty will have to have a closed casket, seeing as there is no body! No Regulus! It a katzenjammer- Oh wait theres Regulus!

"Regulus! I've been searching for you everywhere! Hello Evans, Where in Merlin's name were you?" Barty whispered shouted as he sat in the chair next to Lily.

Lily looked at him confused, amused, and slightly worried. While Regulus just rolled his eyes. "Barty, I am reading, and so is Evans." Regulus gestured to the red head.

Barty turned to at the shocked Lily and grabbed her hands, pulling them into a kiss. "My deepest apologies Miss Lily Evans, but you must know, that I had gotten back from a glorious expedition from the flip side, only to return to our house and find Regulus missing! Can you believe it? Gone from the face of the earth, so of course like any good friend, I searched everywhere, and found him no where, the cold freezing me in my search, and just as I was bound to start preparing the funeral I find him loitering here." Barty told dramatically, a hand still holding Lilys as the other waved around in dramatics.

Lily just nodded along with a smile, figuring Barty also didn't hold a disdain toward her bloodline either. "The cold must have been biting, your hands are freezing." Lily agreed with him, feeling his cold palms on her warm ones.

Before Barty could gloat about her following along with him, Regulus scoffed. "You searched everywhere but the Library first? The coldness is on yourself for such a idiotic way of thinking." Regulus insulted him as he placed his book down.

Barty waved his hand as if to shoo him away. "Evans you have to understand, that I was melancholy worried for him, I couldn't even think straight." Barty pleaded his case, a pout forming on his face.

Lily bit back a giggle and turned to Regulus. "He was only worried for you, it seems." She repeated Barty's words, cause the brunette to grin widely and Regulus to snarl at Barty.
