When Regulus got sorted into Slytherin, there was a small part of him dissapointed. He could feel the chasm between him and his brother grow deeper. Barty C was sorted right after him, and of course felt the need to sit right next to him too. In hopes of cheering the boy up Barty whispered it's okay my parents didn't want me in Slytherin either. How could he say that? He knew nothing about Regulus, and Regulus hated him. Barty was the loudest, most irritating person Regulus had met, but just so happened to become his best friend. In third year, Regulus realized he really enjoyed being around Barty, maybe even a little too much. He was everything Regulus was not, and brought Regulus out of his comfort zone. Soon Regulus realized he must be in love, and was terrified. He started avoiding Barty at all costs hoping it would go away. After Winter break Barty confessed, so Regulus did the logical thing and rejected him. Evan and Barty started arguing even more, and Regulus, heartbroken, pushed everybody away and threw himself into school work

Pakeeza (Pandora) Rosier was Regulus's best friend since 6 years old. He lived close to some of her family, and one summer ended up running into each other in Regulus's back yard. During this summer, they would fill their days playing make believe in the forest. Whenever he tried to introduce her to Sirius, she would disappear. Reggie it's okay if you have imaginary friends Sirius would tell him. However, at the next family gathering Regulus saw her and they became close very quickly. When Regulus complained about needing an arranged spouse, she quickly volunteered herself. When his parents died, the engagement fell through, but it stayed an inside joke in their friend group.

Where Sirius was the spitting image of Walburga, Regulus was identical to his father. After Regulus transitioned, Orion quickly shoved Regulus under his wing. He saw Regulus as a second chance, a way to mend his mistakes from last time. Orion taught Regulus everything from how to manage the family business to simply playing chess. For months they would be inseperable, Orion taking him to work, talking to him about novels he's reading, and quizzing Regulus on family lineage until Orion would get bored and eventually forget about him, until the cycle continued. Regulus was a pawn his parents showed off to the world, their perfect heir, perfect son, the only one.

Regulus's mother loved him, he knew that, she just wanted the best for him. She wanted to see him succeed. When he was younger, she saw herself in Regulus and all she wanted was for him to follow in her footsteps: to become the perfect wife. She taught him how to clean, cook, and properly host dinners. When he started transitioning however, their relationship tapered off.

Once Regulus became the heir, his parents helped him transition quickly, erasing any previous identity of his to preserve their name. He was supposed to marry Pandora, until the summer before sixth year when his parents passed away leaving all of the Black estate to him. He was all alone, bearing his family's finances, property, and name. Alone. Narcissa offered to move in with him, but she had a husband and a life outside of Regulus. He spent that summer wandering the empty, echoing halls of the Black Estate. He missed sirius his family's love. That year, he met James.
