~Ma tulipe~ Rook x reader
. . . . .
Readers POV.
“Rook… Why do you like me?”
…
“… Because you’re the most beautiful thing that I laid my eyes upon.” He responded.
. . .
We have been together 1 month now since the day he said that. Those words kept repeating themselves in my head the moment I started to doubt myself again. Using it as some sort of comfort so I can go through the day without feeling bad about myself.
But why can’t I believe that this is true? I took some fresh air that the outside world provided. Making my headache slightly lighter. I didn’t want him to see me like this. So I’ve been avoiding Rook today as I needed some time to think about this without him questioning why I wanted some time. I knew which classes he had today and I went through hallways he normally wouldn’t take to go to those classes. I didn’t come to the cafeteria. I did everything I could to not see him. Only responding to his messages to tell him that I was fine.
As I walked around the school I kept thinking about the things I don’t like about myself and how every time I did this he would come up to me and tell me that it isn’t true. That I’m beautiful. I believed this without problems for the first two weeks, but the more I get reminded that he thinks there’s beauty in everything, the more his words repeat themselves, the more he tells me that I’m just beautiful, the more the word lost it’s meaning to me.
I sometimes ask why he likes me or how he thinks that I’m beautiful. I’m normal, have no power or magic. I’m just some random person who somehow got into this world and was allowed to stay inside a rundown dorm. I probably have to leave soon too. Back to my world where I won’t be able to see him. I thought to myself as I walked towards Ramshackle dorm, not noticing the tears that threatened to fall at these thoughts. As I walked up the steps I was stopped by a figure calling out to me in a voice I know too well. As I looked back to see the handsome vice dorm leader from Pomefiore smiling gently at me.
“Ma tulipe, I haven’t seen you all day. Are you feeling okay?” He asked.
I looked back to see him. A few feet between us as a cool breeze went by us. His mesmerizing green eyes looking at me. I kept silent as he walked closer to me.
“I have noticed you’ve been avoiding me all day ma tulipe. Did I do something wrong?” He asked a hint of worry noticeable in his voice.
“… You did nothing wrong Rook.” I said not wanting him to feel worried or guilty for no reason.
He examined my face as I said that. “You don’t seem to be happy ma tulipe. Do you want to talk about it?” I was quiet again. My thoughts going all over the place. Should ask what he sees in me? What he’ll do if I eventually have to leave? If he wants me to stay here in this world with him? I sighed and shook my head looking away slightly. Not wanting to cry over stupid thoughts like these. Especially not in front of him.
“No. We don’t need to talk.” I said, my tone of voice not being very convincing.
He frowned slightly. “Y/N, please look at me when you say this.” He said. I turned my head back to him the tears that I have been holding in for a little while falling. Staining my cheeks and the floor beneath me.
He looked worried hugging me as a response to me crying. Trying to comfort me.
“Ma tulipe, I know when there’s something wrong please tell me what has been bothering you.” He said in a calm gentle tone. He pulled back to look at me waiting for me to talk.
I breathed in deeply. “Rook… What would you do if I can’t stay here, in this world, with you? Why do you actually like me when you know that I don’t even belong here? Do you think that I’m just beautiful? Is that why you like me?” I asked my voice slightly cracking. “I just don’t see why you would bother being with someone like me.”
This not being the first time I asked. I always get the same response to why he likes me, but just being beautiful according to him has lost its meaning.
He smiled softly at me as I embraced myself to hear the same short answer he always gave me. “Because you’re beautiful.” Is what I would’ve expected, but I didn’t get that this time.
“Ma tulipe, you’re not just beautiful to me. You’re more than that. There are just no words that can explain how magnificent you are to me. You mean the world to me. You are the most important person in my life. You are talented and kind. There’s a reason why I call you tulipe. Only you warm my heart and brighten my day like the tulips that bloom in the sun’s warmth and light during spring. You are the only person I have these feelings for.” He responded.
Him saying something else this time made me slightly surprised. As I looked at him making eye contact.
“But what will you do when I have to leave. I don’t know if I’m allowed to stay here and I don’t want you to leave your home here.” I said.
“My home is a place where I can be myself. Where I can be happy and secure.” He said as my heart slightly sunk at his words.
“That place is wherever you are ma tulipe. I wouldn’t feel happy or comfortable without you since you are my life and my happiness.” He started wiping the tears away as he gave my forehead a kiss.
“I know you have a hard time seeing the beauty I see in you and I’ll show you what I mean from now on.I love you ma tulipe. That will never change.” He said pulling me for a hug.
“… I love you too Rook.” I said, hugging him back as we didn’t talk anymore. Just enjoying the warmth of the hug. Not hearing rustling leaves and the wind around us as if we both were the only ones that stayed in the world. The tears that were staining my cheeks already stopping as a smile crept up my face.
