Ok one of the reasons dopplegilly is so off-putting is that it's just Gillion and there's no physical changes or differences
But imagine this
During the reveal to Chip that he isn't actually Gillion, his teeth get just a little sharper, his claws get just a little more pointed, the skin on arms becomes just a little more scaly
Because I feel like during the line- "You don't think I just regrew all that skin, did you?" while Charlie did execute it wonderfully, it had the potential to be said with such a darker tone that would have made it a lot more threatening
And if it had been said with that darker tone, those changes would have definitely fit the vibe of "oh shit oh fuck that thing isn't my friend"

never gonna be okay ever. Norah who asked if the convenience store would have grenades and seemed confused as to why not if they had lighter fluid. Norah who got excited to talk about quadrobics with her friends. Norah who politely asked Janice to confirm if she’d made a joke. Norah who made a joke at the nurse who drove them back and got excited when he got it. Norah who was so careful and polite asking those people if they went to church, showing them her report cards. Norah who got really sad when her parents took her fish book.
Norah who killed a part of herself when she killed that rabbit. Norah who held that knife in shaking hands Norah who cried as the rabbit trusted her. Norah who stood there in her hospital gown shivering and dripping with blood staring at her friends as they tried to joke around and was unable to smile at them. Norah who climbed out of that bathtub on her own two legs a different person. Norah who will never be the same again.

My new favorite wisp family moment post upp 2.4 is Williams dad asking Isaac and Norah with the most deadpan voice “Where’s William.” Mostly because it’s super funny but also because oh em gee…. Subtle implication that William’s parents are super aware at how shady their kid is acting….. like William was JUST pinned down by a doctor who nearly scratched his eyes out, and Mr Wisp asks like he had this Gut Feeling that the moment he took his eyes off of William he was just going to disappear, mildly evidenced by how obviously Mr Wisp Did NOT want to leave Williams side.
Makes me wonder if the anger his mom had at him during 2.1 was partially born from her growing concern over William’s weirdness. His parents so generally much more concerned about him this season and seem to constantly try to keep an eye on him (like asking Norah where he + Isaac and Lui went off to when Norah’s dad comes to pick her up) but they just. Can’t. He keeps slipping away and there’s nothing they can do to convince him to stay in one place. William just keeps brushing them off. He keeps making badly timed jokes (“he read my poetry” William jokes like his mom hadn’t just tried to chase after the grown man who’d lunged at him), bad excuses (see fast talk fumble in 2.1) and evading their concern.
He doesn’t tell his mom why he’s so worried about Isaac, he doesn’t let her know when he’s leaving the house or coming back, he doesn’t communicate with his dad despite how hard the guy tries to make moments between them this season… like it feels like such a big contrast comparing their ‘hospital talk’ in upp1 and upp2. In upp1 William opens up a little, says how happy he is to have his current friends etc, but this time William’s a complete brick wall, using a dumb gag to brush his dad off completely…
They’re really trying and it’s just not working and it upsets me
Lui and William’s duo name but it’s Magicwisp because they are both things that caused the two bad things
Magic due to the stick that was used to control Lui.
Magic due to the Grimoire that he uses to cast spells, causing him to become unwell.
Magic never goes well for Lui. No matter how interested he is in it, how cool he finds it.
Wisp for Williams initial death, following a mystery, leading to him dead instead.
Wisp for his powers, how they malfunction on him.
Wisp being his last name is like an insult. A punch to the face by God himself.

thinking about norah fleetwood lately
norah killing the rabbit as a therian. shouldn’t she want this? is this her true nature? was it inevitable? is she not a real therian because she doesn’t want blood on her hands? everything that led to being nonhuman, everything that made her feel out of place, was it all for nothing? is something just inherently wrong about her, after all? no fox would cower at a simple hunt. it feels so bad.
