TADC's use of "Isn't She Lovely" disgusts me the more I think/learn about it.
Stevie Wonder, a Black man, wrote and sang that song about his newborn daughter. She was born five years after the ratification of the 15th Amendment. "Isn't She Lovely" is a Black song celebrating Black love and life.
JobbytheHong, who sang TADC's cover, openly likes lolicon. GLITCH hired a pedophile to cover a song written about a newborn baby. The song is instead sung for the self-insert character of a racist, misogynistic, white person.
Jax is intended to be a closeted transfem. Yet, both the show and the merch only use he/him for Jax and Leeroy/Lee. The only time she/her is used towards Jax is the song clip that people have been misinterpreting as Funnybunny. There could have at least been a Progress Pride flag somewhere on Lee's design. Gooseworx said the episode was supposed to be open to interpretation, but she uses social media as a director's commentary. It feels like Gooseworx cared more about money and fame than telling an uncensored queer story.
Jax is functionally forgiven even though he/she never tries to apologize for a long history of abuse. Abstracted Jax gets special treatment compared to the other abstractions. That includes two people that abstracted (fantasy suicide / mental breakdown) directly because of Jax. We learn that Jax is the one who mockingly named Gangle, and we see Jax fantasize about sexually harassing her. Past episodes are filled with Jax's misogynistic, queerphobic, and ableist "jokes." That's not lovely, no matter the gender.
Every abuse that Jax does is excused by the narrative because he/she secretly had a traumatic backstory. (Actually, it's because Jax's is Gooseworx's self-insert favorite.) The other characters had similar issues without becoming abusive. Jax, Ragatha, and Ribbit have issues with their parents. Jax and Zooble both have gender dysphoria. Jax and Ribbit both ran away. Jax and Gangle both struggle with acceptance. Jax and Kinger were both lonely. Why is it that only Jax is allowed to lash out? Why are characters like Ragatha punished by the plot for lashing out on a much smaller scale?
It all boils down to Gooseworx being self-centered and GLITCH pretending to be accepting. There's literally a police brutality joke on the TADC merch website (5th image of Digital Playground T-Shirt). They're not being subtle anymore. I'm done with anything involving GLITCH.
It’s a song about black love because… he’s black! Get it? He’s black! He’s only black, everything he does is black. It was five years after a law was passed, it’s clearly about that. It’s all just black.
Can’t wait for the explanation on how Jet’s Are You Gonna Be My Girl is an ode to white power.

I got tired of online I/P discourse long ago, but the one thing that still hurts me is how it affects music. This stupid fucking “No Music For Genocide” campaign gets on my nerves. It’s just a way for artists to feel like they’re doing something important without doing anything actually important, which requires actual effort, money and self-sacrifice. Because I refuse to believe they think Bibi will get the IDF out of Gaza and sign a peace agreement because he can’t listen to the new Of Monsters and Men record (their pre-2025 music is still available in Israel). So many artists I wanted to check out at some point - my bloody valentine, IDLES, Hot Chip, Björk, Geese, Black Country, New Road (especially them, they’re the hot new chamber pop band and I love that genre!) - but now I don’t want to listen to them even though I still can, because they clearly don’t want me as a listener.
And then the other side is concerts. I love concerts, but I only discovered that after all the actually interesting artists stopped coming here. It seems like for the next decade - aka my twenties - I won’t be able to see anybody I want to, and my only options will be local Israeli artists, whose shows range from boring to insulting. All that because I was born in a specific place nobody likes. Well, at least Smash Mouth came. That was nice.

This was a pain to look into because a lot of the sources I could immediately find were tabloids. Fantastic sources, as we all know.
On the thread author's claims:
1. There is no current written law named after Katy Perry. Yes, there was an IDEA for a law called Protecting Elderly Realty for Retirement Years Act, or PERRY Act. This would add a 72-hour "cool-down" to a sale of personal residences, during which either party could rescind without penalty if one of the participants was over the age of 75. HOWEVER, this appears to have only ever been an idea, and multiple sources about this even say it took no actual steps in the legislature. Searching the websites for both Congress and the California state legislature shows me no results for even an introduced bill with this name. While this obviously doesn't disqualify the idea that there were laws about cool-down periods passed in response to this that simply aren't called the PERRY Act, that's not what the OP is claiming.
2. This nonexistent law was not brought about because Perry was doing this to "so many people". This idea was specifically proposed by Carl Wescott's family after a legal battle over a sale of his home, claiming he was not of sound mind to do so (due to his Huntington's disease diagnosis, accelerated age, and opiate use after a recent back surgery), with Perry's team arguing the opposite. Ultimately, it ended with Perry still going through with the home purchase, and Wescott's family having to pay out damages for dragging things out. There is nothing I could find about other real estate lawsuits involving Perry besides this one and the nun case (which I'll get into later). All other legal cases she's been involved in have nothing to do with this.
Additionally: I want to point out that the home in particular had a valuation in the tens of millions to begin with, and one of the few things on Wescott's wikipedia page is how he sold one of his multiple companies for multiple times that. While Wescott is indeed bed-bound due to Huntington's, and I'm not denying the possibility of foul play on that front, he and his family aren't "lower-earning elderly people" Perry is crushing under her wealth.
On the thread reply's claims:
This description of the case leaves out some key figures and incorrectly places the full blame on Perry.
To summarize:
Some nuns purchased a property in 1972 that became their convent.
In 2011, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles made all of the nuns relocate from said property. The nuns heavily suspected that there were plans to sell it.
Archbishop Jose Gomez then accepted an offer from Perry to buy the property in 2013/2014, but two of the nuns refused on the grounds that she was everything they stood against.
The nuns were likely not going to get any money out of the sale, so they went ahead and sold the property to Dana Hollister first. Perry and the archdiocese both immediately sued over this.
Ultimately, it was ruled in favor of the archdiocese because the nuns hadn't sought approval from the Vatican before selling the property, which was of a high enough value that the approval was needed.
Further legal action was taken against Hollister and her interference with the sale to Perry, during which Hollister eventually declared bankruptcy.
During these court proceedings (sources are giving me contradictory information on which exactly, but the clearest version of events say it was Hollister in bankruptcy court), one of the nuns collapsed and died.
While Perry is definitely not without blame, telling this story without including the fact she was just the buyer to the Archbishop's sale skews the information incredibly.
Additionally, when Perry interacted with the nuns directly in 2015, one of them described her as "nice", and descriptions of the event seem more like her appeal to their faith than a shake-down.
Overall, both parties in this screenshot seem to be presenting misinformation via inaccurate descriptions of events. While Katy Perry is not an innocent party in either event, and there is ample reason in both to dislike her, it is absolutely not an excuse to exaggerate this to such a misleading extent. Please be mindful of future claims like this against female celebrities, and what you're willing to believe.
