Becoming Addle Eratat
Mighty Kongbot last year took part in one of the pavilion of the Wrong Biennale about the inexactitude in science. The pavilion was curated by @FilippoLorenzin and @KamiliaKard and our project was called Addle Eratat (acronymous of Altered Data). Our aim was that of rising concern about the inexactitude of algorithms used by social media giants like Facebook and Twitter in defining and classifying people. We wished to create a fictional character and engage with every feature available on Facebook and do a human performance for algorithms. Of course, we also wished to highlight the growing problematic and dangerous reality of online identity in terms of privacy, fake profiles and how it is possible with a social network profile to troll and scam people and convince them of the real existence of this online persona offline. Nowadays fake profiles are weapons for political and propaganda cyber warfares, we saw this coming.
