Historically, many major figures from queer history were criminalized for expressing their identities, and court records are in fact how we know about many queer people from history.
This fact should inform queer peoples relationships to polices and prisons. We should know better then most that being criminalized is not based on morality, and we should use that knowledge to work in solidarity with communities experiencing the same or similar criminalization.

it’s sooo funny when rude customers encounter employees who can deny them service for the first time.
i was working at a little cafe where I could deny service over bad behavior, harassment etc. & mask mandates had just ended a week before & already people were being weird about me still wearing mine—an N95, the kind shaped kinda like a duckbill.
so this man walked in, looked at me sooo scathingly, laughed at me, and said “damn. never known a woman to choose…practicality over looks.”
And I just said, “oh. you can go, you’re not getting a drink.” And he said, “what???”
I said, “sir, you just walked in at 6 am & called women impractical and me ugly in one sentence.”
And he was so astonished he didn’t even argue he just turned around and left 💀🙏🏻 it was like he suddenly became self aware
One summer I was running ferry rides across a lake so people could see the waterfalls without walking 6 miles when a guy snapped my bra strap as he was boarding the boat. So i immediately threw him off, he started yelling for my manager, my boss cheerfully informed him that, yeah, she’s the captain of the boat and she can kick off anyone she wants. He goes to storm off, looks expectantly at his girlfriend, and she just goes, “Well, I’M not walking six miles, Michael! I’ll meet you back at the car!” and sits right back down!!!!
The expression on his face when he was told that he couldn’t get on the boat, then immediately told that his girlfriend was ditching him? PRICELESS. he just blinked at her and then stormed off like a child. I gave her a free hat and was like maybe rethink this relationship…….
i once had this fucker come up to order a beer. while i pour it he shows me the wanky fucking chemical structure tattoo on his arm and he’s like “hey. you know what this is” i was like “nah sorry” (never cared abt chemistry in school, plus having to look at a some rando’s pretentious tattoo gives me the douche chills). he decides to respond with “heh. you must not read many books”
i immediately stop pouring his beer. i reply: “heh. you must not want this beer.” thirsty boy immediately starts groveling like a worm “please please no i do want the beer im sorry im sorry” believe me when i say it was one of the most pathetic things ive ever witnessed

I genuinely believe that part of why it has become so normalized to be openly callous and evil in politics is that customer service culture has trained affluent people that they can treat everyone they consider beneath them however they want and still be treated kindly.

And people are going to say that they had no idea.
But how could you have no idea? You see how downright monstrous they are when everyone is watching. If that's how they act when they're on their best behavior, just use your imagination.
Could they be sex-trafficking the hostages (no, I will not call them "detainees") and threatening to kill them if they told anyone, using Renee Good and Alex Pretti as examples of how easily they can kill people and still be seen as the good guys? I don't know if they're doing that, but they're definitely the type who would, and if they did no one would stop them. Also, some of the hostages are very young girls who became pregnant, and they don't seem to have an explanation for that.

people hate it when you say things like 'this policy that was mostly meant to hurt [marginalised group] also sometimes hurts [other, less marginalised group]" which is fair bc it can definitely come across as 'who cares if those subhumans get hurt, the problem is when it happens to real people'. but unfortunately a fact about being a marginalised group is that it makes it much cheaper politically to hurt you.
immigration officers arresting citizens is not worse than immigration officers arresting noncitizens, but turns out weirdly enough 'citizens' is a category with a lot more political power than 'noncitizens' and so it's strategically useful to get them opposed to immigration enforcement. so that might affect which things you talk about how much.
This! I call these "curbcutter arguments", after the curbcutter effect, where it was observed that an improvement made for wheelchair users had knock-on positive effects for other people.
Should "This marginalized group is being hurt by [thing], so we should stop doing [thing]" be enough of an argument? Sure! But for a lot of people, it's not. And until we get to a point where it is, I'm going to keep using curbcutter arguments when I need to, because sometimes that's what it takes to get the problem fixed. And fixing the problem is the important part.
These are useful when you want someone's one-time participation in a political effort to get result, or as a gateway to get people active.
To get people to stay active, they do need to learn that actually things are still bad when they only hurt the marginalized group. People who don't internalize that make terrible allies that could betray the marginalized group at any moment.
Luckily, the result of getting into activism is often that your perspective broadens in exactly this way because when ''the marginalized group" becomes "my buddies who always help with the protest" or "that medic that was there for me when I as hurt", caring about the marginalized group becomes a lot more instinctive.

did you know literally *everyone* is raised racist. like by society at minumum, if not specifically by their parents. if you aren't constantly questioning the prejucides around and inside of YOU, yes even you, then you aren't taking enough action in your daily life to be a traitor to the state of white supremacy.

Maybe this is just my anxiety spiraling into paranoia, but I hate how everything relating to jobs feels like you're constantly being judged/scored.
Send in an application? All of your past experience is being judged and scored. This is normal and expected from a job application, but still stressful.
By some miracle, you get a call to come in for an interview? You are being judged and scored during that phone call. Did that phone call wake you up? Better not sound like you just woke up. -1 point.
Need something repeated? Maybe you just don't listen. -1 point.
Not available at the time/date they originally request for an interview due to a prior commitment? Maybe this shows you're not flexible and won't show up for your shifts. -1 point.
And then when you get to the actual fucking interview, it feels like everything about you is being judged. Your physical appearance. Your outfit. If you appear visibly nervous. If you don't appear nervous enough. If you stumble over your words. If you don't give the "right" answers to the interview questions. (No, you will never be informed what the "right" answers are or be given any tips)
And yeah a lot of this is just my anxiety going crazy, but some of it is rooted in reality. I've overheard real hiring managers at previous jobs discuss applicants that they interviewed and they've listed extremely petty and shallow reasons not to hire them. Their outfit. Their hair. If they were a woman/feminine appearing person who didn't have on makeup or manicured nails. (This one especially pissed me off, because it's 100% not relevant to the job at all, unless the job were a manicurist position, which it was not. And I am a woman who does not wear makeup or manicured nails, so what does that say?)

This is especially relatable when you’re on the spectrum. I’ve had to learn from coaching how to do all of this, and now it’s just like taking a test to me, where I have to give the right answers and present myself correctly. I’m just lucky I had the chance to have someone sit down with me and explicitly teach it to me.
