"Yo. How ya feelin?"

I offered to help out with the art around early May as fun snippets of the song were sent to me. I mainly started with getting concepts down based on the lyrics and flow of the song. I also gathered inspirations for colors and mood- take a wild guess at what movie I had watched just that week.

I focused in on getting the right vibe at first. I wanted to solidify the story I'd be telling with visuals alone, and that story ended up being doomed space yuri. Whoopz gave me permission to go crazy with the direction here, but there was yuri in the lyrics alone.

I also did a bunch of physical storyboards, thumbnails, and concepts! I studied other vocaloid MVs and their structures, I reworked space lesbian miku's design a lot, and just tried to make something cohesive while still fun-looking.

I had lots of fun working on the two main chorus shots. The different emphasis on the hands reaching out (either for Miku or the space shuttle controls), especially. It was also sweet to rework my old starhiker teto design and refine her a bit for the MV! my little daughter

I refined a lot of stuff. I was also looking back on shots to see how they'd look zoomed out, how readable they were, even leaving notes in the psd files about movement, text, etc. It was very important that even in motion, the composition was readable.

looking back, its very funny that I was saying all this right before finals week and game jam week. She didn't know what was coming.

Animating everything didn't take too long fortunately. It's just funny how everything lined up, but I'm crazy proud of this. I don't usually edit, animate, or direct videos this long- so an opportunity like this means a lot to me.
