Taekook - Hogwarts au

• On the train ride to Hogwarts, Jungkook rode alone in an empty carriage. He’d been too nervous to ask anyone if he could sit with them. He didn’t expect to make any friends on his first day of school. That was until he saw Taehyung stumbling onto the train at last minute with his luggage toppling over one another and making obnoxious banging sounds. He looked like he was struggling, so Jungkook went to help him carry the load to his compartment. When everything he packed was put away, they both sat down with relief. “Thanks!” Taehyung shouted while giving Jungkook a bright smile and pushing his bangs out of the way. Jungkook was startled because of his outgoingness and shining face. He was sure he’d never seen anyone as happy in his whole life. They introduced themselves to each other and began talking about what Hogwarts Houses they think they’ll get sorted into. It was easy conversation much to Jungkook’s surprise and delight.

• At the sorting ceremony, Jungkook got sorted before Taehyung. He was sure before the hat got placed on his head that he would be sorted into Gryffindor since he came from a family of pureblood Gryffindors. To his surprise, the sorting hat put him in Ravenclaw. He went to go sit at the Ravenclaw table and secretly hoped that the boy with the sparkling brown eyes got sorted into Ravenclaw as well. He didn’t and got sorted into Hufflepuff instead. Jungkook was only a little disappointed until he saw Taehyung sit down at the table across from his and give him an enthusiastic wave. Jungkook blushed and shyly waved back.

• Even though they were in different houses, they still found a way to spend as much time together as possible outside of class and practicing spells. Taehyung would usually spot Jungkook first in the corridors and pull him into a corner to discuss homework or tell him a joke he came up with. They were never that funny, but Jungkook laughed anyways. At Christmas time, they both went home to their families but missed each other to such an extent that they sent letters back and forth all break. When the school year ended, they did the same thing all summer.

• During 2nd year, a rumor went around Hogwarts that there were two boys dating in Slytherin house. The news spread like wildfire, but the head of houses didn’t seem to notice. Jungkook stayed away from these boys because they got endlessly teased, and he didn’t want to be part of that. On the other hand, Taehyung stood up to the people that bullied them behind their backs and to their faces. Jungkook got worried for him, because he might have gotten hurt by one of these people. He told Taehyung that he should leave things alone, but he didn’t listen. Eventually, he got a bruised face from one of his dormmates. Jungkook visited him in the hospital wing everyday until he got better. He’d stay by his side and hold his hand while telling him what assignments he needed to catch up on. Taehyung would look at him with swollen eyes and a grateful expression, being attentive to everything that Jungkook told him.

• 3rd year was very eventful. Jungkook tried out for the quidditch team and made it as a chaser. Taehyung went to all of his games and cheered him on. At tryouts, he shouted things that embarrassed Jungkook but surprisingly made him do better like “He’s mine!” and “Let’s go, Jungkook-ah!” and “Wow, you fly so fast on that broom!” They got their permission slips signed to go to Hogsmeade and spent most of their time at Honeydukes. Taehyung bought a box of sherbet lemons and popped one in Jungkook’s mouth before eating some himself. He told Jungkook they were sweet like him. Jungkook’s face turned a deep red color and he pushed his spectacles up the bridge of his nose. The only class they had together was Astronomy. They didn’t get to see each other much besides that. One night, they laid out on a large field in front of the castle to see how many constellations they could spot for homework. After seeing Orion, Taehyung got bored. He turned on his side and rested his head on his hand. Jungkook copied his actions. Then, they were staring at each other not saying anything. The sounds of crickets chirping could be heard from a distance. The moonlight shone on Jungkook’s face very subtly. Taehyung thought he looked super nice. He tucked a loose strand of hair behind Jungkook’s ear and leaned in closer. Before he could get too close, Jungkook sat up and told Taehyung he was tired. He stood up and practically ran up the hill without looking back.

• 4th year started out pretty awkward between the two of them. Jungkook seemed to be actively avoiding Taehyung. It bothered him so much that he confronted him about it. Jungkook was shocked that he cared that much and apologized. He didn’t know why he was doing it. Their friendship went back to normal after that except Jungkook felt more nervous around Taehyung. When they would sit at each other’s table in the great hall for breakfast and they’d be pressed together on the bench, his heart would beat faster. In the middle of exams, Jungkook noticed that Taehyung stuck out his tongue when he was in deep concentration. He’d admire this habit for a little too long and had almost been accused of cheating several times. Anytime Ravenclaw won a quidditch match, Taehyung would race down the Hufflepuff stands and wrap Jungkook in his arms which made him sweatier than he already was. It kind of freaked him out. Then, the Yule Ball came around and neither of them attracted the attention of many girls. Jungkook felt compelled to ask Taehyung to accompany him. It seemed like the best option. He overthought this though and did it the morning before the event when they were studying in the courtyard. Taehyung had a spell book in hand and was waving his wand in a frivolous manner. Jungkook interrupted him by forcefully grabbing the book out of his hand. “Will you go to the Yule ball with me?” he asked. Taehyung’s eyes widened. “Uh… yeah, Guk. S-sure.” Jungkook nodded with his lips stretching out into a soft smile. Taehyung gave Jungkook his boxy one in return and shoved his shoulder playfully. They showed up in matching suits and complimented each other on how handsome they both looked. They sat at a table with the two Slytherin boys who were supposedly in a relationship. Jungkook thought they were quite odd because of how they interacted with each other. The taller one, Jimin, flirted with the one with mint green hair, Yoongi, the whole time they were sitting there, but he just responded by shrugging. They made conversation, ate, and danced. The whole night flew by like a breeze. Jungkook walked Taehyung back to the kitchens. He figured he should, to be a gentlemen and stuff. “I had fun tonight, Guk. Thanks for asking me to be your date.” Taehyung said. He pulled Jungkook into a hug and was reluctant to let go. Jungkook quickly kissed him on the cheek before he did. Taehyung stepped back with his hands still on Jungkook’s shoulders and leaned in for an actual kiss.

• They established that they were dating 5th year. However, they seemed to grow further apart with Jungkook’s quidditch practices becoming more frequent and Taehyung expanding his social circle. They decided that they would join the frog choir together to get to be in each other’s presence more often. Jimin and Yoongi were already apart of it and welcomed them with open arms. They also met 3 other boys who were friends with them: Namjoon, Seokjin, and Hoseok. According to Professor Flitwick, Jungkook and Taehyung made the perfect addition to their group. When they all sang together, the harmony sounded full. Jungkook and Taehyung were the happiest they could be despite the whispers and weird looks they would sometimes get when they walked passed other students. Eventually, things started going downhill as Jungkook started to pay more attention to other people’s judgement. Taehyung was more confident. He believed their relationship was very right, so he didn’t really understand where Jungkook was coming from. This resulted in many arguments that ended in tears. At one point, Jungkook thought they should just call it off. That’s what they did. They stopped standing next to each other in choir. They didn’t say goodbye to each other before getting off the Hogwarts Express. No letters were sent back and forth that summer.

• 6th year felt like a drag. Jungkook and Taehyung started talking to each other again and managed to regain their friendship. Things weren’t the same, because they still wanted to be with each other. The tension between them was quite obvious especially to their fellow choir members. Namjoon approached Jungkook in the middle of their break and asked him what was going on between him and Taehyung. He told him they broke up and spared the unnecessary details. Namjoon pointed out that they’re clearly not over each other and they should try to persevere through whatever happened. Jungkook explained how he felt about what other people say about them. Namjoon shook his head. “If you love someone, it shouldn’t matter.” He walked away, leaving Jungkook in contemplation. He glanced over at Taehyung who was standing by the large window talking to Jimin. He felt a surge of jealousy course through his veins and marched up the steps. He spun Taehyung around and urgently pressed their lips together. He began apologizing for being so uptight last year. Once he finished, Jungkook uttered an “I love you, Taehyung.” He received an “I love you too, Jungkook,” in return. Taehyung clasped both of his hands on the back of Jungkook’s neck and kissed him. Jungkook put his hands on Taehyung’s hips and kissed him back while their friends cheered in the background.
