So, have you heard? People are comparing Percy and Annabeth to................Odysseus and Penelope.

When I heard this, you don't know how funny it was to me. I almost choked on my spit. LMAOOOOOOOOOOO

Penelope would NEVER hit or insult Odysseus. She doesn't play mind games with him and they communicate properly.

Odysseus and Penelope are not toxic. Percabeth is.

Also, Rick Riordan is LEAGUES worse than Homer. Like, the guy cannot even compare to the ACTUAL GREEK POET.

And people are actually comparing the two.

Percy Jackson IS good at times, but it will NEVER compare to Homer's compositions. Literally never.

TBH that's just my personal opinion.

Also, Homer actually composed many of the Greek epics that we still read today.

I get why people would want to compare them, but there is no comparison, really. It's so fucking funny to me.

Anyway, what are your thoughts on Percabeth compared to Odysseus and Penelope?

That comparison alone has ruined the New Year for me. It's an insult to the Odyssey. Hell, it's an insult to the recently released Ithaca Saga of Epic the Musical.

But seriously, are these things actually being said? Cause that puts Percabeth stans from delusional category to brain dead.

Homer's Iliad and The Odyssey are one of history's most reputed myths of all time. And the primary source of Greek mythology for many people. I am certain Rick himself referred Homer's works for ideas and references. Even Riordan himself would be ashamed to compare his writing to Homer, in even the slightest manner.

Now to Odysseus and Penelope; the greatest couple of all time, truly and undeniably. The orignal eternal love. Even Hera, the goddess of marriage and family, considers Odysseus and Penelope's marriage bed sacred. Which Odysseus carved out of a living tree as a symbol of their undying love and so that it could never be moved.

Odysseus crawled through hell to get to Penelope and Telemachus. He survived and won the 10 year long Trojan war, defeated/ tricked a Cyclops, countless mythical monsters, Circe, Calypso, and even Zeus himself and at last Poseidon. That alone is beyond comprehension. Because Odysseus isn't a demigod or any specially blessed being. No, he is just an ordinary mortal, a genius mortal, one trained by the wisdom goddess but an ordinary mortal all the same. Yes, he is one of a kind genius, but these are literally eldritch creatures compared to him.

Let me put it this way, Odysseus is the OG Batman. He is who all smart fictional human characters aspire to be.

The Odyssey is literally about the all transcending power of human will. Of Odysseus's sheer fucking will to get back home, to his wife and son. That's it. A common desire of a common man, yet so miraculously burning and indomitable in Odysseus's mind that it alone outshines his extraordinary genius.

He quite literally died on his way there. Had to hitch a ride through the Underworld and then some.

Then he had to sacrifice his ENTIRE CREW, HIS FRIENDS, HIS COMRADES to get back to Ithaca. Mind you, Odysseus had the record of getting every single one of his 600 men alive out of Trojan War. The only one to have done so. And he had to lose some to the tragedies and then WILLINGLY SACRIFICE others to get back to Penelope.

I don't think there are words enough to encapsulate Odysseus's dedication.

Now Penelope. The thing is, she is just as bloody impressive. The Queen of Ithaca and a Spartan Princess, she is also one of a kind. Throughout Odysseus's departure and the suitors' invasion , not five, not ten, 108 SUITORS, Penelope held her own, keeping the castle, her son Telemachus and herself secure. All the while, raising Telemachus and running the kingdom on her own as well.

She tricked the suitors into an eternally futile game of trying to lift Odysseus's bow and shoot with it. Tricked them by telling them she was weaving Odysseus's shroud, which, when finished, would signify that she is picking a new husband. Each day, she would weave for all suitors to see, and each night, she would unravel the shroud. All in an attempt to stall. Among the many other ways, she did so. Including STEADFASTLY DENYING EACH AND EVERY SUITOR CONSTANTLY FOR YEARS AS THEY ASKED FOR HER HAND, NEVER ONCE LOSING HOPE OR FAITH IN ODYSSEUS.

When Odysseus returns, disguised as a beggar, she not only immediately recognizes him but subtly helps him in killing the suitors, which then Odysseus and Telemachus proceed to do.

All 108 suitors dead in a night. Add that to 600 men under Odysseus's command. 708 lives murdered and then some all for Odysseus and Penelope to reunite.

And this is me abridging the whole thing. Imagine the struggle, the suffering, the mental and physical trauma. 20 years straight. You can't fathom it.

I don't think I have words enough to state how repulsively disrespectfully wretched this comparison is. I would use an analogy, but it's so horrendous that I don't think there's one that suffices.

I literally have more than half the posts dedicated to dismantling the delusion of percabeth being a perfect ship, so I won't preach to the choir, but I mean Annabeth's fatal flaw is Hubris and Percy's is Personal Loyalty. Go figure.

If that isn't enough, Percy jumped in Tartarus for Annabeth. She fell, but Percy jumped, among the many other ways he has saved her from countless deaths. And Annabeth offers him what in return? It would have been alright if she gave him nothing in return, but somehow, the situation is EVEN WORSE.

Physical and mental demeaning. Toxic and controlling attitude and of course BLAMING HIM FOR GETTING KIDNAPPED AND HAVING HIS MEMORY WIPED BY A GODDESS. WOW, THAT SOUNDS SO SIMILAR TO PENELOPE AND ODYSSEUS.

Not to mention, Penelope accepted her husband, as he was. Even after being so completely changed by his tragic journey that he was quite literally NO LONGER HIMSELF.

And Percy when had to CHOKE AKHYLS WHO WAS DEFINITELY GOING TO KILL HIM AND ANNABETH, WAS KILLING HIM AND ANNABETH, OUT OF SELF DEFENSE AND SHE BLAMES HIM AND FORCES HIM TO PROMISE NOT TO USE HIS POWERS TO DEFEND HIMSELF???

WHAT THE FUCK??? And sure it would have been ignorable had it not had any long term effects. BUT NO PERCY ALMOST KILLS HIMSELF OUT OF KEEPING HIS PROMISE TO ANNABETH.

Call them whatever the hell you want but DON'T EVER COMPARE THEIR RELATIONSHIP TO ODYSSEUS AND PENELOPE.

Annabeth didn't give Percy any warning. Didn't talk to him. Didn't tell him what she was thinking and just pushed him off the edge, not even knowing if this water was breathable to Percy, AND since he wasn't even prepared he could have easy lost his hold on this important staff.

Now he's fighting this unknown god, Elisson, who guess what wants to cause Percy pain.

Yeah, Annabeth, what did you think was going to happen? Oh, wise one *sarcastic*. At least Percy thinks of more than himself and wants to keep his partner safe.

Here Percy's been through the ringer, forced into this situation BY ANNABETH, and Annabeth, who is safe up on the cliff, is just tapping her wrist like it's a watch because she's impatient for her boyfriend to hurry up. Like girl, this god could kill Percy and has already hurt him, and this is how you react.

Look, I don't care if anyone likes Annabeth or not, but this kind of behavior, not to mention so many more things, is just so concerning to me. Percabeth is not a healthy relationship, and it never has been.

I am, in fact comparing the two.

I don't think annabeth is as bad as gabe (nope, ofc not) but she is very toxic and she hurts percy alot. Her lack of character growth is genuinely frustrating to me. I think they need to breakup, and heal by themselves. Alone.

Percy is constantly being put down by her. There realtionship is toxic, and generally abusive in my POV.

Annabeth hits him all the time, which we see in the books. He actually admits to wanting to off himself after she puts down his power, in which was the ONLY reason they even survived.

She keeps him on a lead, basically. I love Leah, so this post is not at all directed towards her. It's directed towards those who are Annabeth stans, Percabeth stans or overall those who ignore the flaws in Annabeth chase.

We know that Gabe hit Percy, and we know his nickname for the child was "Brain Boy." Annabeth is shown to hit percy very often, and has the nickname "Seaweed brain" for him. The nickname is similar to Gabes one for him.

We also know that the nickname started as a insult. Percy asked Annie multiple times to change it, or to overall not call him it. In her pride, she ignores him. She states at one point, (I can't find the actual quote but It goes sm like this) that she knows he will warm up to it eventually.

Percy stopped telling her off about it because he KNEW she wouldn't listen.

Im not downplaying the trauma Percy went through, but I think annabeth makes it worse. When she judo-fliped him, she essentially risked his life.

She was NEVER informed that the Achillies Curse was gone. She knew where his heel was, and essentially risked hitting it when she judo-fliped him. He trusted her, and she risked his life because she was upset??

She makes HIM apologise to HER for being kidnapped. That's a toxic trait, as it's controlling. It's something a abusive person, or someone with abusive tendencies would do.

Yes, Percy is the strongest demigod alive. But in that scene it wouldn't of mattered. She also risked getting Camp Jupiter to literally attack her.

Annabeth was literally unhealthily obsessed with her attachments to people. To her family, her sense of belonging. Her crush on Luke as a pre-teen, which is relatively normal, (even after his death, the narrative makes it clear that Annie doesn't see her feelings as sisterly to him.) Is really weird.

She seems upset that Luke seemed to "love" her back, and immediately takes his words as him loving her back. And yet, she denies her feelings even after we find out she doesn't even consider her feelings sisterly to him!

She refuses to see her own flaws. And so the stans, so fuckin block me if you don't like anti-annabeth posts. Tell me to kms. I genuinely don't care!

Annabeth is a character I will never like.

Ramps should be the standard.

Automatic doors should be the standard.

Elevators in multi-story buildings should be the standard.

ASL interpreters at events should be the standard.

Braille menus at restaurants should be the standard.

Danny who isn't quite sure he can trust heroes outside of Amity to have his back against the GIW (which are very much a rogue agency, not that he or anyone in AP knows that).

So he does what he does best: he improvises. He chooses a team of young heroes to shadow so ge can record their work without interfering.

Unfortunately for everyone involved, he chooses Young Justice (and it has nothing to do with crushing on Robin or Superboy or Empress or Arrowette or Impulse or, or, or -)

It takes YJ an embarrasssingly long time to find him out (only really courtesy of Secret, really, who didn't say anything sooner because she assumed they knew!)

John Constantine had seen a lot of things in his life, things that would probably drive any other mortal insane. He liked to think he was well versed in anything that the supernatural and otherworldly could through at him.

He was not expecting Daniel James Fenton.

Constantine wasn’t looking forward to visiting his buffoon of a half brother in the first place, let alone in a town absolutely soaked in Death, but he’d relented and gone. He was regretting his decision more and more by the day.

Danny had sent off his internal otherworldly detector like a wildfire sets of a smoke alarm, loud and insistent. The problem was that Constantine had no idea why.

Sure Amity Park was absolutely liminal, and every single citizen set off his instincts just a bit, but Danny made them scream. Scream louder than demons had.

So what exactly was Danny Fenton?

John Constantine was going to find out, even if it killed him.

Danny’s ghost sense wasn’t the only attribute he gained regarding his instincts after the accident. Every ghost had sent off a little flare in his core along with his sense, but this was the first time his core had flared with no ghost sense to follow.

And of course it had done so with his half-uncle, John Constantine.

The guy reeked of death, but also of resurrection. And not just death and then being brought back, no; the man had gone through death multiple times.

He also stunk of sulfur and brimstone, Danny had known from lessons with Clockwork and Dora that scent in particular meant demonic presence.

But Constantine didn’t send off the right twist in his gut that would come with a demon, even a smaller one.

He didn’t feel like a sorcerer, either. No magical tension in the air due to his presence and there was no spark in Danny’s core that alerted of magic. But Constantine definitely had a magical touch to him.

“Danno!” Jack Fenton boomed, “Come down here!”

“Coming!” Danny shouted back, putting the model rocket he was working on down on his desk and walking down the stairs till he was in the living room with the rest of the Fenton family

“What’s up, Dad?” Danny asked, Jack looking like an overeager puppy—well, more so than usual, that is.

“My brother John is coming over!” Jack grinned, “You’ll like him, a good fella!”

“We have an Uncle?” Jazz raised an eyebrow, “I didn’t know Grandma Janice had a son besides Dad,”

“Your Grandmother had married an English man sometime after your grandfather died, but they’d gotten divorced, and your Uncle John had gone with his father back to England.” Maddie explained, “He didn’t ever get along with your father much,”

“But now we’ll get the chance to move past our childhood squabbles and become the brothers we should’ve always been!” Jack grinned, “You’ll love your Uncle Connie!”

“Connie?” Danny asked in confusion, “I thought his name was John?”

“John Constantine,” Maddie clarified, “He took his father’s name when your grandmother went back to her previous marriage’s one,”

“When’s he going to be here?” Jazz questioned right before the doorbell rang.

Jack sprung up, “There he is!”

Bounding towards the door, the orange-clad man threw open the front door and wrapped his arms around whoever was there in a large hug.

“Johnny!” Jack exclaimed, “How are you, buddy?!”

“Get off me!” A British voice yelped, “I can’t breathe, ya bloody idiot!”

Jack let go and a blonde man in a trench coat fell to the floor, coughing slightly as he stood up.

“Fuckin’ shit,” The man looked rough, greasy blond hair and a stubble of a beard all while smelling of cigarette smoke and faintly of alcohol.

The man glanced at Maddie, “You’re Maddie, right? Jack’s wife,”

“That’s me,” Maddie smiled as she held out her hand as he took it to shake.

“John Constantine,” He grunted, “This buffoon’s half brother,”

The man suddenly made eye contact with Danny and his eyes went wide at the same time Danny felt his core shutter.

John cleared his throat, “Guessin’ your Danny?”

Danny nodded, “Uh, yeah,”

The two shook hands, both thinking the same thought.

Nightwings: Hold on, there's a civilian running around. Early twenties, black hair, super pale and kind of sickly lookin. He looks panicked, like hes looking for something or someone, I'm going to check in, in case its a child.

Nightwing: Excuse me sir, are you alright?

Danny, pressing a hand to his chest in pain: So-Someone broke into my-my appartment when I was at work and-and they left the door open, and now I can't find Mittens!

Red Robin, over comms: Seriously? All this drama over a cat?

Red Hood, over comms: Who actually names their cat "Mittens"?

Oracle, over comms: You two are so stupid.

Robin, over comms: I agree, shut up. This is serious, that poor animal could be injured.

Nightwing, helps Danny sit on a nearby bench: Hey its alright man. I'll have the others keep an eye out for her okay? What does your kitten look like.

Danny, releived: Mittens isn't a kitten, shes a puppy, really tiny girl. She's a Bully Kutta, and she's mostly white but has black unclipped ears and some black splotches- here I have a-a picture. *pulls out his phone with shakey hands and shows Nightwing a picture of Danny and Mittens in their new appartment, Mittens goes up past his hips*

Nightwing, stunned into silence: . . .

Red Robin, over comms: That is "tiny" to him?!

Robin, over comms: Stunning.

Oracle: Found him. Daniel Fenton moved to Gotham with his Service Dog in Training, Mittens, two months ago. He works at Gotham's Space Museum, and writes Parnormal Fiction stories on the side, and he apprentantly visits Middle schools to do presentations. Mittens is 15months old and is set to graduate very soon. She has high praise from all her trainers, but it seems Danny's employers at the Museum are pushing against him bringing her to work once she graduates, Danny seems to be fighting with them about it a lot. Jerks.

Batman, over comms: What does he need her for?

Oracle, over comms: Heart problems, and mobility issues caused by an accident when he was a teenager, as well as Anxiety, and PTSD. A lot of his file is sealed because he was a minor when it happened, I can snoop more?

Batman, over comms: No, that amount is fine.

Nightwing: Well, the others know, and will keep an eye out for her. You're still shaking pretty bad, how about I see you home.

Danny: I appreciate it. I'm sorry for keeping you back, being a hero is- seems like an exhausting job.

Nightwing, joking: You speak from experience?

Danny, eyes distant: No, I was never a hero.

Danny: She went looking for me, of course she did. If she won't go to Robin by name, have him call her "Vöttr", I'm the only one that ever calls her that, so it will catch her attention.

i love fics where casper high goes to Gotham and terrorizes the people there and concern the fuck out of them but I also think it would be cool if they went to metropolis and Gotham like where they are in one City for a day or 2 and they go to the other for the rest of the time

Gotham will be terrorized yes but metropolis would be doomed because they are used to evil billionaires and alien weird but casper high is just feral weird and super man just being confused on who TF these kids are

Paulina and her friend star would be calling Harley and Selina feminist legends and try to get their autograph

Robin cursing as he rushes to the scene of the crime where a young man talked down to Gotham PD. Demanding they find his stolen date before the mood get's killed.

Robin has no time to focus on the mans stupidity. He has an arch nemesis it o find because as much as he initially assumed the worst, he knows Quinn has changed for the better. This was the one time he was secretly relieved to be proven wrong, and the one time he doesn't want to be right.

What made that guy so important she had to force an audience? What was so secretive she couldn't turn to either the Sirens or the Bats?

Danny blinked wondering if he heard right, but yup. He heard some nepo baby talking on his phone about how he keeps forgetting to feed his puppy.

In his stupor the guy winked at him.

Danny smiled back at the guy. The kind of smile that would make even Sam take 3 steps back. Danny will have fun, but it would be at someone else's expense. Not that the guy knew about his smile.

He turned back towards the energy drinks, picking one up to read the label and setting it back. He repeats this two more times before someone coughs behind him.

The asshole is there. His shoulders hunch down as he scratches his cheek. Conveniently available to help Danny pick a drink like some 'nice guy'.

And just like a 'nice guy' he drools at Danny's obliviousness. His eyes turn downright predatory when Danny asks for a hotel recommendation. Danny blushes when the guy offers his penthouse but insists he would only feel comfortable visiting after a nice date.

They talk for a few more minutes before Danny leaves.

He may be new in town but he also has family.

Aunt Pammie who his mom hand't heard from a long time but was relieved to come into contact once more. Her wife scared him a bit with her sorta circus aesthetic, but they were both held hostages and brainwashed by clowns so it's just the left over trauma.

She becomes his fave when she offers to help with his plan. Make the guy take him out on a date, get 'kidnapped' by Harley, and then break into the guys apartment to steal his puppy.

Nothing could wrong until he comes face to face with a bat.

They must make for an interesting sight, him hand feeding the puppy bundled in his jacket while Harley rubs chili powder in the guys hanging clothes.

"Baby Bat! Oh uh, this isn't my room. I must have sleep walked." She hides the chili powder but the jig is up.

Robin crosses his arms as he glares at them from under his mask. The intense stare Danny feels can only be a glare. He can breath again when the mask turns to Harley.

"This is the one instance I would love to be proven wrong." He stays silent as he watches them. The katana on his hand is pointed down but could easily be pointed at them in any moment.

Danny moves to stand in front of her. He doesn't think he'll need to use his powers but he reaches behind to hold her hand. Just in case. His heart almost breaks when the puppy begins to while at the loss of food.

"I am sorry Mr. Robin sir. I asked my aunt to help me rescue this puppy."

Robin looks him over from head to toe.

He blushes knowing his current outfit reveals more than he usually does, but he need the guy to ogle him because his face would show what he really feels. It was only the thought of helping that puppy that made Danny cover up his anger when the wine came out on their 'date'.

"I heard the owner of this apartment boast about maybe feeding his puppy if he doesn't forget again since he locked 'it' in the guest bathroom to sleep. I couldn't let this sweet girl suffer so I asked my aunt to help me out but we were mad and shouldn't prank him so I am very sorry and won't do anymore than what we;ve alreadydonesopleaseletmyauntgohome!" He doesn't realize he closed his eyes until Harley starts laughing.

"Baby bat meet Danny, Danny meet Baby bat." She keeps hold of his hand as she waves with her other. "He's a good kid and he already has a puppy so maybe we should all split and catch up after the new baby has a chance to recover and take a bubble bath."

It's not a suggestion, but Robin just tsks as he sheathe ships katana.

"Fine, I assume you left no prints." He opens the door waiting for them to follow.

Harley scoffs. "What do you take me fore an armature? Of course we left no prints. Just rehomed some bathroom stuff to the kitchen and moved furniture a few inches."

They follow along as he inspects the kitchen. Robin sees what they saw. Alcohol and expired food. The scowl on his face makes him want to apologize before remembering this isn't his fridge.

Danny continues feeding the puppy as he watches the two work in tandem. "Should I help with anything?"

Robin's head snaps up. "No, we just finished."

He nods as he watches Robin unlock the front door.

His heart flutters at the almost blood thirsty grin on Robin's face as he leaves the door slightly open. He downright swoons when Robin carries him down the fire escape. Sure it was more the puppies sake than his, but he didn't say anything about the smell.

The odd trio walks a few blocks before going their separate ways.

Harley teases, "You two are so cute."

The blush he held back has breached containment. he can feel even his ears heat up as he tries to deny his attraction to the local hero.

"Let me see what he gave you and I'll even convince your auntie to let you date him. C'mon Danny boy, you need to give me something so I can prep Red for the new in laws."

He talks quietly because of the puppy in his arms. Poor girl finally slept with a full belly and some warmth. "There is nothing to be cute about. It's just a business card to a local 24 hour vet."

"Awww, is Danny boy disappointed?" She throws an arm around his elbow. Too short to comfortably reach his shoulder.

"Not really. Heroes connected to civilians always get in trouble so no thanks." Had he not been a teen hero, Danny would have said yes. Instead his experience has given him understanding.

He can see his answer disappoints his aunt.

"You're killing me smalls. Not even a kiss to thank your hero for carrying you down all those floors?"

"We can get him a fruit basket when he check in. Him being your parole officer and all." The tables are now turned. He can't enter the vets office look like a tomato.

She whisper shouts at him. "Hey! It was for a good cause and even he knew it."

They continue bickering as they walk towards the vets office. The good mood disappears as they find his aunt waiting for them in her pajamas.

"I am so happy to see you two bonding, but why did I have to hear about it from a little Birdy instead of you?" The plants rattle as she taps her foot. "Well?"

Harley was unable to talk them out of being grounded but she was allowing the puppy to stay as long as the hyenas got along. She was not allowing private meetings between him and the sprout.

Danny felt there was nothing to worry about until the sprout in question came to visit. In his civies with a pastry box in one hand and s gift basket full of toys and treats in the other.

He pointedly avoids looking at his aunts while exchanging numbers with Damian.

Danny joins Young Justice (how idk but I would guess chaos) and due to being in constant excessive danger due to all the ghosts, hunters, and his previous home security, tends not to notice things below a certain danger level.

Example:

Danny: *walks over a trip wire, around a pressure plate, ducks under a laser, and continues on completely oblivious*

YJ member behind him: *trips on the wire, causes a cascade of activated traps and barely makes it out* phantom! Why didn’t you tell me about the trip wire?!

Phantom: There was a trip wire???? *genuine confusion*

M’gann: I can tell you are genuinely confused but how did you miss the wire? *baffled*

Jason, angry and defensive: yeah i died and coroner left me some new scars for when i came back

Danny: at least you weren’t awake for yours

Jason: what??

Danny lifts his own shirt to show matching scars.

Jason, horrified: you weren’t even dead, why the—

Danny: well, no i was dead, technically, just also awake
