There's a very nice (if tragic!) one-shot manga by Takemiya Keiko, Natsu e no Tobira (Into rhe Door of Summer) that's essentially about a bunch of boys at a boarding school, staying over the summer for various reasons rather than going home, their feelings mostly for a much admired girl called Ledania (although one boy has a crush on another boy in truth), Ledania has a crush on the main character, Marion, but he can't return her feelings because he's very shy and squeamish about that sort of thing, despite otherwise acting very confident, mature, and rational/above-it-all. He falls for an adult woman who's initially very pushy and crosses boundaries. She basically grooms him, it's sad.
He reminds me of Shootie, if all the adults around him sucked and were either neglectful, predatory, or enablers.
There's an anime adaptation that's very pretty, but it drags out the bedroom scene quite awkwardly, when it's very wispy and implied in like 2 pages without much showing in the manga. But the anime also gives it a sliiightly more hopeful ending than the bleaker manga ending.
Oh I just searched it up and the artstyle looks beautiful and I think I have seen the main character before while looking at bishounen characters!! The story sounds incredibly sad and even a little dark though,,
