I was scrolling through Tumblr and came across a post of KNOWN PEDOPHILES ON TUMBLR (many of which have or want to rape actual children/minors)

THERE ARE ACTUAL PEDOPHILES ON TUMBLR TRYING TO GET IN TOUCH WITH MINORS ON TUMBLR

Looking through the reponses today, I saw a lot of people saying that they didn’t like how others babied Dave because he’s queer. Although yes, people baby him for that, it’s honestly more people baby him for his disability and mental illness.

They like to treat him as though he’s soft and sweet, but this is a weird romanticisation of his medical issues. He’s an obsessive stalker, there’s nothing romantic about that, but people treat it like it is. Dave has trauma, this does not mean you can make him seem weak and sensitive and act like he’d never hurt other people. He enjoys hurting other people. He enjoys making people suffer. Yeah, he originally didn’t kill children with the intent on making them miserable, but after Henry disappears, it becomes less about that, and more about trying to avenge Henry.

Plus he does bad things without killing people too. He makes life a living hell for people he dislikes because he thinks it’s funny.

This isn’t to say you can’t write or draw about Dave and Jack in a healthy relationship. Canonically, no, they don’t have the best relationship. But it works because Jack is willing to put up with Dave’s behaviour. He just doesn’t care about it anymore.

What I’m saying is that you guys can’t water down Dave’s personality into just him being “clingy” and “in love.” He is so much more than that. He’s a guy who became his worst nightmare. He became the horrible person his child self didn’t want to be. And he frankly, doesn’t even care anymore, because he has no remorse.
