Alien Offspring on Earth (Part 3)
After deliberating between smashed boiled eggs and baby formula as the safest solution, you take the latter and start boiling water in an electric kettle to make a bottle with baby formula. It was just the easier and fastest thing to do for now. You still take some eggs and start boiling water in a pot just in case the baby cannot digest the formula and you have to take your chances with actual animal protein.
The loud music kept the baby’s screams in the background, but even then, you were waiting impatiently for the water in the kettle to boíl just enough to make the bottle. You put a whole scoop (that came from inside the formula can) onto a baby bottle and kept waiting while you briefly took the baby in your arms and tried to console them.
You then realize that the music was too loud and probably not the baby’s taste, so you change the loud heavy metal to something more for babies (in your criteria): Disney music.
You start with the classic “Fantasy” of the early 2000s, since it was more music and visual animation that any other thing.
The colors and music called the baby’s attention. Their ears and eyes shifted towards the strange sounds and colors that they found interesting and stopped crying almost immediately. Like they just forgot that they were hungry.
You exhaled with both exhaustion and relief. You sat them on the sofa that was infront of the TV. They looked like they were hypnotized by the whole show. Their tail wagged a little. Intrigued by what they saw and what they were hearing. ‘Stay here while I get your food, okay?’ You asked them while leaving them slowly towards the kitchen, but not before putting one of the sofa’s cushions on the floor right below where the baby alíen was. Just to be safe.
You knew they did not understood you, but then again, what baby actually understands their caregivers until later on?
You soon hear the kettle whistle and quickly prepare the bottle. Once the hot water was mixed with the formula, for your dismay it was too hot and you did not wanted to have the baby crying again (and much less for a pain they cannot comprehend), therefore you put it in the fridge and set a timer for both the bottle’s cooling and the eggs’ boiling time.
As you wait, you notice how the baby stares at the TV with their big and wide eyes, and mouth open. ‘Beautiful.’ You describe what the baby was seeing. ‘Too bad that disney’s golden days have been over for a while.’ You mutter for yourself as you watch the show from the kitchen and keeping an eye on the baby.
After two minutes, you then remember a few things from the basement so you go and check them out quickly. The basement had an office from where you work as both a digital artist and a writer, a small personalized gym, another bathroom, laundry room and a small space where you out the stuff you don’t use very often (or plainly don’t use at all) but they have a sentimental worth in your eyes.
Two more minutes and you find it. A box full of toys. Toys that your nephews and nieces no longer wanted or plainly disliked them for child-like random reasons. ‘Hehe.’ You laugh at the thought and checked them out briefly. ‘Yep, always clean. They should be of use for now.’ You bring the box back upstairs and then run back to the kitchen just in time when the timer goes off.
