A hatchling fell in the laundry space from the ceiling. I carried it, lied it down on a green microfiber towel. I gave it water and crushed chicken feeds. A lot of hatchling fell ever since I can remember, and they would be dead in the morning. I did not gave it name for I did not expect for it to live at first, but it lived a day, then two days, then third, then fourth. We named him Roger, after all the birds that lived in the household.Â
Roger is a zombie bird, as I often called him. Whenever there is a sign of movement he will immediately tweet louder and open his beak wildly to catch food. I noticed that when he does that it made him looks like angry. I learned that Roger act on shadow- he knows that there is movement when there is a shadow cast on his tiny face. =(
The household fed him. I figured out that everyone did simultaneously, maybe that is why he grew faster. His wings looks like make-up brushes with those miniature bristles.Â
When there is light he is awake, when there is sound he is also awake. Last night we did a video conference with the cell and we thought that we should move Roger to the other room. I thought it was best for Roger since it is dark and quiet, he is sleeping soundly when I checked on him. I forgot to close the windows. =(=( In the morning he is gone. Roger is limp since he fell and he canât fly- so he didnât walk or flew away. Roger was eaten by a cat.
Iâm disappointed with myself- for I thought about him yesterday and I just shrugged the idea since Iâm already in bed. I though that I should have checked on him again. I need to rationalize things and I say to myself, âThat is how animals live. That is how life for them. and I am just stupid.â
Goodbye to our angry zombie hatchling Roger..Â
