It’s encouraging that young people are starting to discover vintage hifi equipment. Everything to do with music production and consumption has cheapened since the end of the 90s, but sales of vinyl records have been increasing for the past few years. The simple act of listening to music used to be special. The albums cost a lot more and music collections were much smaller and carefully built over time. Selecting an album, pulling it out of the dust jacket, placing it on the turntable, lowering the needle, adjusting the volume and tone controls on expensive components, and finally, sitting in the “sweet spot” between the speakers, was a ritual to be savored. More appreciative listeners means more appreciation for musicians, composers, and engineers. Hoping this trend continues.
