[[Everything fading away. Familiar locations she can no longer remember disintegrating right before her optic, faceless specters who should mean a great deal to her crumble into sand right in front of her. Everything she touches fades away, falling through her digits no matter how hard she tries to cling onto them. Even her own servo begins to rust and split apart.

Character Development Questions: Hard Mode

Off the top of her helm, Lazarette could list several life changing events that struck her to the very core, shaking the very foundation of which she built her entire world around. But the one memory that started this domino chain effect that led to the bot she would eventually become?

It all started with the ruined remains of her home city. The shattered underwater domes that she once walk through, the polluted murky waters of contaminated energon deposits mixing with organic matter. The dead marine wildlife that once flourished for millennia, gone in an instant.

“Sad isn’t it?” Lazarette did not need to turn around to know a femme of burgundy wine stood directly behind her.

“I could have you arrested right now, Auxiliary.” She warned flatly without facing her.

“Aye aye, you could. But will that bring back what you lost?” She asked. “I told you, this is what they do. They take and take until you have nothing left of value to offer them, or you become too good at your job and need to be taken out before you start having opinions and ideas. Too much of a threat to their perfect little life’s.”

The sound of footsteps came closer and the wanted outlaw was only a few feet behind her.

“I tried to warn you-”

Lazarette drew her sword and swung blindly. Auxiliary unsheathed her own saber and intersected it.

“This is all your fault!” She screamed in the pirates faceplate and swung again. “None of this would have happened if you lot just stayed in line and followed the rules!”

“Don’t blame me just because your too blind to see in front of your own visage!” The burgundy bot roared back and pressed forward, blocking eahc strike and forcing Lazarette back. “You knew what you were doing was wrong and you still sided with them over your own people! The people you pledged your allegiance to!” 

“You killed hundreds of good bots just doing their jobs!”

“You killed thousands of us for the crime of living!” Lazarette’s sword was flung out of her servos and thrown into the oil spilled waters. The tip of Auxiliary’s blade was inches away from her neck cables. “And now they’ve killed a hundred good bots just because you were doing your job. Poetic, isn’t it?”

“What do you want from me?” She growled in defiance, baring her throat.

What happened next took her by surprised. With a flip of her digits, the sword twirled like a baton and the pirate caught it by the tip without slicing her servo open. She held the handle held out for Lazarette to take.

“To take back what they took from you.” She smiled fondly.

They stared into each other’s optics for the longest time. Lazarette felt the fight drain out of her and all that was left was a numb coldness.

“Try all you want, you’ll never get me wearing your badge.” She knocked the sword out of Auxiliary’s servo and sent it clattering across the floor next to her own fallen sword.

Character Development Questions: Hard Mode

Lazarette had fired a blaster many times before in her career, both as a space pirate and her previous life as an Autobot soldier. Her very first shot with a loaded pistol had been at a target on a hologram training field. It wasn’t the same as the real thing. The recoil wasn’t nearly as strong and the target fell over with little to no resistance. Clean and simple.

Reality is rarely so neat.

“You have been found guilty of the crimes of theft and arson of military property, the act of piracy, conspiracy and treason upon the commonwealth. You have been sentenced to death by public execution by firing squad. Do you have any last words?”

The chained smugglers stood tall, shackled ped-to-ped before the femme and her armed team. “Down with the caste system!” One of them crowed and the others cheered and stamped their pedes in merriment. Lazarette silenced them with a simple hand gesture that ordered her men to ready their weapons.

Some lost their courage and coward at their inevitable demise, but one bot in the middle, no doubt the captain of the ship she had just detained, held her gaze.

“You are the only thieves I see here.” He spoke softly yet clearly. “We arrived on this planet to make fresh start. To start anew and all you did was make the same mistakes as our mother planet. You manipulate the weak and take advantage of the desperate. We stole nothing. We only took back what the Commonwealth hoarded for themselves behind their barriers. Bots like you who stand back and do nothing as citizens suffer are the real traitors and will suffer for your crimes in the end.”

Lazarette raised her blaster and the rest of the firing squad followed her lead.

“May Primus have mercy on your sparks.”

A single pull of the trigger and a barrage of lasers burst through each of the pirates spark chambers and their armour turned stone grey before they even hit the ground. It was over in and instant and Lazarette stood still, gun smoking, her arm still outstretched as she watch the ship’s captain lay sprawled on the floor, dying with his helm held high.

“…Clean up the mess and burn the ship. I’ve wasted enough of my time already.”

“Inquire about his allegiance to the Decepticons, poke around at his weaponry and features, see if the legends are true about manta rays being able to attach themselves to anchor and pull a ship under. I doubt the rumours are true, but it’ll be good for a laugh.”

Lazarette: *stares* I'll be thirty-one million next month.
