Genre: A romance that I will not get over...we stan enemies-to-lovers. And a love triangle?? SIGN ME THE FUCK UP-

Age Rating: Somone with the brain capacity of an 11-year-old could read this and not be traumatized.

YOU THOUGHT! Y’ALL THOUGHT! Y’ALL SAW MY DAMN TURTLES ALL THE WAY DOWN REVIEW AND YOU THOUGHT I WOULD HATE THIS! I CAN SEE IT IN YOUR EYES!

Anyway, y’all were wrong.

I did enjoy the book. And my Fictional Character Crush List (Edition No. 15) has grown.

I had avoided it...for a while. Like a long, long while. But when Last Christmas came and I gave you my heart, I bought it out of impulse. I hath emerged from my cave and I went to Barnes and Noble and bought the book. A gift to me from me.

I am so lonely.

Aside from that, I am now addicted to enemies-to-lovers. And I have been roped into a cult. But I’m fine with it. It’s fine, everything’s fine.

People have a problem with the Bachelor-Dystopian type shit going on in this book. And that’s fine. But just give it a chance.

Cause look at this list:

Two very attractive men, that I wanna see Hunger Games-style their problems out

A love triangle

And a pretty girl

Like it’s a bisexual extravaganza. Like just a breeding ground.

For those looking for a synopsis: Think the bachelor, but add more pettiness, swords, and you actually have adult supervision.

For those who have read the book: That one scene with Maxon, With the sleeves, the hair...the haLLWAY...I’ll stop.

Overall, I’m hooked once I find the second novel in the bazillion boxes that flood my room currently.

Okay. Before the John Green stans come for my ass (scary as hell), I am going to preface, by saying something that’s probably gonna be the opposite of what is gonna be what I need to say. And that is: I do NOT like, in any way shape, or form, John Green Books.

I can hear the pitchforks.

I have a good reason. I swear. Okay… I don’t like his books because I find them overhyped and I don’t want to join something that seems kinda cult-like (I’m in band, I have no right to call John Green stans a cult). There’s nothing wrong with it, my only humongous reason that I am most likely not going to read another book by him is because of the way his books are so hyped. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk…

Aside from me most likely going to get burned at the stake, I did somewhat enjoy the book. Somewhat. It was an odd one. It went off the rails exactly at page 50, and I found it hard to keep up with which plot it was following.

Kinda Spoiler, but not really: It has like a mystery, that gets pushed to the side until the very end, as well as, the story that the book is tiring to follow the majority of the time, the story of Aza Holmes, a girl that is struggling with OCD and ever-spiraling thoughts. But it’s also a...love story?

It was a lot to keep up with at one time. And there were times that I think some characters (*cough* Daisy *cough*) that really only thought of themselves and pursued what they wanted. And that’s good! You were able to create a character that I wouldn’t mind burning at the stake. Alongside my own toasty body.

This is not a diss on John Green, I feel like he is a brilliant writer, but I feel like if I continuously see a book shoved in my face, I’ll be less likely to read it. Of all the John Green books, this is the only one that wasn’t all in my face like, “READ IT!!! READ IT NOW!!!” I find books like that somewhat annoying. But you know, I was able to follow along with all the plots happening at once, I really did like the downward spiral of Aza (✨ character development, we love to see it ✨), and I don’t ever want to put down an authors child, because, shit, have you seen my papers… it all really comes down to how much I see the book on my FYP.

It was a really good book and, funny story, I actually lost it for a hot second, it was in my desk drawer? Don’t ask. Not my favorite, probably because of the books I read before it and after it, books I’ll happily do a review on, and it’s one that had components that I liked and disliked. Overall, it was a good book.

Recommended Age: 14 and up

I read this book a little while ago, but my god. This is like a fever dream. Half the time it was so sweet, with the little love story, ya know? The other half is just a humongous WTF moment. I’ll explain what I mean a little later. But, holy crap.

When the opening line of the book is literally, “Here is a boy, drowning.” What in the actual frick-frack am I supposed to do with this type of information?! Well, at least now I know that this book is going to rip my heart out. Thanks a lot, Patrick Ness.

I’m confused, heartbroken, and on top of all of the confusion and sadness, Patrick Ness decides to not even give a sequel. The audacity.

If this book intrigues you, I completely suggest that you read it blind. The story is really good, the characters are just charming as they are sassy, the book was really good, and I grew attached to the characters.

Recommended Age: 14 years of age

I’m on my fifth box of tissues. I’m devastated. Never once have I cried over a book, not once. In all the years I’ve been alive, I have yet to cry this hard over a book. I can’t function. This book has destroyed everything I know and love. Gone are the days I have yet to cry. My heart hurts. Just everything hurts.

I had to watch wholesome dogs and cats on YouTube, that’s how said it got. The ending hits you like a brick and I’m positive it should be illegal. The number of times ‘Monday’s Not Coming’ hit my wall is astronomical. 

It follows the story of Claudia, best friend of Monday. Monday Charles is a girl who went missing and how no one bothered to look for her until it was already too late.

The story was one that hit home, literally and figuratively. The novel that Tiffany D. Jackson has written is a topic I think many are afraid to tackle, just because it is so controversial. From child abuse to racial injustice, they’re there and are written fairly well. 

The story is told from three different points in time; the Before, the After, and months. The Before is focused on what happened before Monday went missing. The After is what one would expect from the title alone, it focuses on Claudia’s own downward spiral. Months are fairly short and are the chapters where all the bricks are thrown. 

‘Monday’s Not Coming’ was a brilliant book. It had characters I grew attached to, antagonists that I loved, an appealing side romance. It was a fantastic book.
