Well…..that was disappointing. As far as the story/plot it was pretty good and engaging! But uh….guys what was that? Like I’m not surprised honestly but I didn’t think Mike and Will had that LITTLE interactions. Like that’s actually insane. I went in with expectations low but not THAT low. The Byler hug was nice at least. We also had more Yuri yay!!! Rovickie saved the queer rep in this volume. As far as uh….the coming out scene? It just left me feeling empty more than anything. And Tammy actually being Mike huh? Well that kind of undermines Mike and Will’s friendship. Like they are BEST friends but nah he’s just some Tammy I don’t need him. Now Mike…his character feels SO stagnant if we aren’t getting a pov from him. He really just does feel like El’s bf sometimes even tho his character is much better. While we are on the subject WHY DID HE ACT LIKE THAT IN S3 AND S4 AROUND WILL?? I get teenagers go through puberty but come on…I still love Mike don’t get me wrong he just feels flat. And not because he’s not gay but because his character doesn’t feel as fleshed out someone like Dustin for example. I’m just so tired of queerbaiting and unrequited love storylines…especially one that gets dragged out and much better then the actual couple. So yeah uhhh Mike and El? I guess they are together??? Idek anymore but it just does not make sense. You are telling me that THAT love confession was honest to god what saves their relationship? What??? And they are based on lies?? Based on Will’s lie? I just don’t get it I’m sorry. I was rooting for El and Mike’s romance in the earlier seasons but they absolutely butchered them for me after s3 and s4. I’m so tired of queer couples being pushed aside for straight ones. Even with Rovickie which I lovedddd they are still a side couple compared to the other romances. I’m happy for the queer representation regardless but…it’s nothing remarkable. It felt like checking boxes. I guess Byler COULD still happen SOMEHOW in the finale? Personally I just don’t see it anymore. I know a lot of Byler doubt is going around but this is what I think. If Byler was happening they would have built it up more in these episodes otherwise it would be rushed. I really did think it could have happened but I guess that isnt the route they took. Disappointed but not surprised. Anyway sorry for the rant jesussss😭 these are just my thoughts coming out of it. Some of it may not make sense I’m a bit tired.
