Messiah Force

Messiah Force is a well respected, yet pretty underground heavy/power band hailing from French Canada. They are well respected for their solid ’87 full-length, but continued to rehearse and put out material after that effort. ‘91’s ‘No Hideaway’ demo showed them continuing to deliver consistently ballsy heavy metal, even as the glory years of the genre began to come to an end. Quite a promising demo, this one features material fans will enjoy, and shows the band still had balls of steel, with tha talent to match; certainly attributes which would have worked in their favour if they chose to work on another full length. ‘No Hideaway’ features the same mixture of tough riffs, authoritative vocals, catchy choruses that made the band’s full length so well respected. I seriously dig the chorus in the titular track; the riff is really powerful, scaley stuff that hits the spot underneath Denis Dufour’s capable, manly delivery. The songs are really well-written, many distinct sections make use of awesome thrash riffs, aggressive drums, and creative all round construction. Deschenes and Tremblay really put on a show of force here – brilliant guitar work. Messiah Force’s material continues to convey a strong power metallish emotion on this demo – stinking of class and authority, much like their full-length. This one is essential for fans of the band, and won’t disappoint any USPM fans out there that spend the time to track it down.
