“H-huh? But I need to pay you for this.” she said, surprised at his words as she fixed her hair back in place. “Hold on, I know of something of value I can give you as payment.” she said as she reached into her sleeve, looking for something.

The girl paused for a moment in thought before nodding and placing the jewel back in the pouch. “S-sorry….I-I just felt like I had to, I must look silly.” she said softly, a small blush on her face.

"You didn't look silly, you looked polite, it's just that this place works with different rules or, yo be precise, it works according ancient magic rules from which I can not in any way escape." He wasn't used to give many explanations and being so accommodating, but she was kind and repay her kindness with an inappropriate behavior wouldn't have been gentlemanly - a characteristic that he had only occasionally and on Friday, every other month - and surely it would have backfired agaist him. 

“That sounds wonderful! Ah, but it’ll probably be a few years before I can travel around to places like that..” What with her studies and all.

“And why did you have to wait, my dear, if I’m not too indiscreet? Not that I’m in a hurry, actually I have all the time in the world.” And even if his words was perhaps an exaggeration, certainly a couple of years weren’t, for him, a notable amount of time.

“Oh, well I’ve got my training for one thing. And my guardian doesn’t much like me wandering off too far without him knowing; he’s a bit of a worrywart.”
