ok so i get that most people who do this have good intentions. but if you ask an author if they're going to keep working on one (or more) of their fics, it doesn't matter what qualifiers or apologies you put in your ask, you're GOING to put pressure on them. saying "hey i love your fic, are you gonna keep working on it? no pressure!" is like saying "no offense but [offensive statement]." saying "no pressure" doesn't negate the fact that you're putting pressure on them just by asking
by all means, if you love a fic, PLEASE leave comments and send messages to let the author know how much you love it! but don't ask if they're gonna keep working on it, or when they're gonna update, or anything like that - trust me, it's obvious that if you're saying how much you love a fic, you want to see more of it. don't make it about you. and if you really need this incentive: authors are way more likely to be motivated by "wow i love your fic so much and here's why!" than "hey when are you gonna work on this again?"
Hierophant ReduxÂ
Of all the things Kiyoji expected his manager would be able to give him advice on, Persona summoning was not one of them.
aka a fic where the phantom thieves mentor a new team of persona users, akira and yusuke are married, and the whole world is on the verge of tipping sideways into hell
You know what itâs time for? Â Itâs time for a preview of Hierophant Redux, in the form of Kiyojiâs opening trip to the velvet room.
Broken glass scrapes against the stone floor as Kiyoji walks. Â Itâs a horrible sound, and it echoes.
The room heâs in is some kind of grand hall, with a ceiling that stretches up into nothingness. Â The walls are made of the same old stone as the floor and broken up by huge, empty window frames. Â There are remnants of colorful glass in their corners, but itâs hopelessly broken, creating the nightmare of scratching and crunching beneath Kiyojiâs feet.
He only recognizes it as a church and not a castle because of the pews, rotting wood upholstered with strangely pristine velvet. Â Heâs never been in one before, but heâs seen them in movies. Â They never looked like this, torn apart like a bomb had gone off, and the windows never faced out into pure, unearthly blackness.
He gets halfway across the room before he notices the people sitting in the front row.
The person closer to him is a little girl with almost-white blonde hair and an immaculate blue dress. Â Sheâs clutching an enormous, ornate book to her chest like itâs a teddy bear. Â Next to her is a hunched old man with a beakish nose and a terrifying look in his eye.
They turn to him in unison. Â The little girl gasps.
âYouâ you arenât supposed to be here!â
The old man doesnât seem bothered, only curious. Â He tilts his head, looking at Kiyoji appraisingly.
âHm. Â How strange. Â An uninvited guest,â he says, drawing out the word âuninvitedâ in a way that makes Kiyoji uneasy.
âWho let him in?â the little girl asks, frantic.
âOh, Iâm sure that will become obvious in time. Â I think it may be time to repay old debts,â the old man says, and smiles.

the new aeii chapter is up! this is a big one :)
after a month, I am finally providing you all with the new chapter of AEII
coffee break
Witchmouth has patients of every possible species, and that means the building needs to accommodate them. Â The janitorial staff does a wonderful job making sure nobody gets trapped behind faulty doors or sucked into air vents.
Of course, with the patients as the top priority, the staff room has the door thatâs last on the list for maintenance requests. Â Jane, returning from a coffee run, struggles with the jammed handle for a while before someone opens it from the other side.
âOh! Â Jane! Â There you are!â
Doctor Fred to the rescue, once again. Â How he manages to have such a friendly smile with a mouthful of razors for teeth, Jane has never been able to figure out.
âThe door is busted again,â Jane complains, passing the cardboard cup holder full of drinks over to her coworker. Â Doctor Fred takes it gingerly so his claws donât puncture anything.
âThat door is perpetually damaged. Â You should be used to it by now,â Dr. Hive says. Â Sheâs curled the centipede half of her body around what might be a chair, checking her cell phone in one hand while the other three are caught up in the process of bringing food to her mouth. Â Sheâs eating something that a more naive person might think was pomegranate, piece by piece.
âNext time, knock, weâll let you in!â Doctor Fred says, unloading the drinks. âOkay, so, iced coffee with hazelnut for our dear Dr. Doe, a double caramel latte for me, and a hot chocolate with 3 shots of lymph for Dr. Hive.â
âI canât believe it took Dunkinâ Donuts this long to start stocking blood and lymph. Â Itâs 2018, get it together,â Hive says, shaking her head as she accepts her drink. âSee, this is what happens when you preferentially hire humans. Â Theyâre so squeamish.â
âHey, Iâm not squeamish,â Jane protests, taking a seat at the table across from Hive.
âYes, but youâre a doctor, dear. Â The medical profession is enough to overcome all sorts of ingrained flaws.â
âYou should talk to my dad, he thinks the polar opposite,â Doctor Fred says.
âYou fatherâs idea of what constitutes a âflawâ is drastically different from the rest of civilized society,â Jane says dryly. Â âHe calls you twice a month to ask why you havenât possessed any of us yet.â
âGood point,â Doctor Fred says, taking a sip of his latte. âArguing ethics with demons is a bit like trying to drown a fish.â
âActually, I was talking to Nessie from Aquatics Intake the other day, and she said thereâs been a rash of fish drownings recently,â Jane says.
âI⌠have no idea what that means for my metaphor,â Doctor Fred admits, frowning into his drink.
âIt means you should drown your father,â Hive says flatly. Â Jane inhales her coffee and immediately starts coughing.
âHoly shit, Hive,â she wheezes, when she can finally breathe again.
âI think she was joking. Â You were joking, right?â Doctor Fred asks.
Hive glances down at her phone again. Â âDr. Gorelik wants me to assist on an avian skeletal graft in 45 minutes.â
Without further explanation, she uncurls from her stool, swallowing the last of her hot chocolate in one gulp. Â Her mandibles twitch and click together to make sure her mouth is clean. Â âIâll see you both later.â
Doctor Fred gives Jane an uneasy glance.
âIâm sure she was joking,â Jane lies.

All the places where there used to be dramatic irony in AEII are now going to be filled with happy, flustered affection and thatâs going to be so much fun.
Red, showing up to a date wearing an âI ⤠All Mightâ t-shirt: yeah, Nakamura got it for me. he threatened to pour coffee into my clean laundry unless I wore it.
Toshinori: I-Iâm sorry, this must be embarrassing for youâŚ
Red: nah, the shirtâs accurate anyways.
there are TWO chapters of aeii up this weekend!
me asking my friends to beta my writing
@meriberries
Some things done by Shioâs âincredibly dangerousâ children:
âteared up because a classmate said he had a nice smile (Setsu)
âmade an amazon wishlist consisting solely of puffy stickers (Kurushiko)
âlearned to use vocaloid to make customized birthday songs for classmates (Tabemaru & Setsu)
âvoluntarily served as a pizza-reheater so classmates didnât have to go all the way across the building for the microwave (Yaketo)
âpiggybacked classmate with twisted ankle around the school for a week and a half (Gekikou)
âcried for 20 minutes because a compilation of kitten videos was too cute (Tabemaru)
âasked for strawberry milk for her 12th birthday (Norika)
âwatched the entirety of the Hamtaro series for the first time at age 16 because classmate was feeling nostalgic (Yaketo & Gekikou)
Norika did!! Setsu was new to the class and somebody made him laugh and she basically said âoh! You have such a nice smile!â and he had to try not to cry.
Gekikou carried Tabemaru around, which was fun for everyone because together they were so tall doorways were an issue.
From my conversation with @meriberries:
Look, Iâm not saying Kurushiko got a pack of Hamtaro stickers and Yaketo suddenly had VIVID memories of watching it with the other kids in his first foster home, but thatâs exactly what Iâm saying.

Green Screen
Ships: Rictor/Shatterstar Rating: M for violence and non-explicit sexual content Tags: Mercenary Work, Slow Burn, PTSD
Shatterstar grew up in a world with a skybox. He doesnât know what to do when heâs suddenly alone in the rain.
@meriberries helped me get through this even while I screamed about not knowing how bars worked and @sh4tterstar helped me with character work, youâre both great!!
Dungeons & Dragons & Deadpool
Ships: Deadpool/Cable, Rictor/Shatterstar, Negasonic Teenage Warhead/Yukio, Peter Parker/Gwen Stacy Rating: M for explicit sexual references/humor Tags: College AU, Dungeons & Dragons, Developing Relationship, Sibling Relationships, Friendship, Comedy, The Goddamn Summers Family
Wade Wilson is playing Dungeons & Dragons to get laid. This seems counterintuitive, but itâs still true.
