This is it! With just over two weeks to go before our Horror Fest commences, we are delighted to reveal that we now have finalised our list of prompts for this year’s event.

That being said, we are happy to announce that the books/series’ that we have chosen to include this year are: Nightbound, The It Lives Series (inc. It Lives Within), Terror Fest and Bloodbound!

The event will be as follows…

Each week will be designated a book/series. This week will be made up of days for the LIs (among other characters and themes).

To go along with the these days, seven prompts relating to the events of these books, as well as things associated with them (such as legends and fictional beliefs) will accompany them. These will not be in order - you can use them for whichever character you wish to during that week.

One of the prompts (Descendent) has been included as a prompt for Terror Fest; although this is the case, we are happy for this prompt to be universal - they’re all descendants of someone, right?

Terror Fest is a book that still has chapters currently being released; though this book is being featured, please refrain from writing anything that contains spoilers (we’re looking at you, VIPs 👀)

these are things in isolation that might make it sound like i'm pointing out flaws in these sprites' design, but i'm not! part of what makes these characters appealing is the fact that they look unique, and there aren't really other sprites you can compare them to, even if on paper, they sound like they'd look notably similar to another sprite (i.e., they both have dark hair, stubble, light eyes, and a pale complexion), both of their individual faces are unique that it's pretty unlikely you'd get them confused.

i don't want this to sound like i'm saying New Era Pixelberry Is Inherently Bad, because there are obviously exceptions to this post-2022 (every iteration of cas and gabe looks pretty unique, even when compared to counterparts they could potentially resemble; supernatural, non-human characters are still unique--to PB's credit, with valex and kieran, it's not like they slapped pointy elf ears on a generic but attractive face). but it definitely feels like a lot of the time, there's a lot less thought put into how to make each li, or heavily featured npc, stand out in their own way. with a lot of the newer sprites, that really isn't there. with a lot of them, i feel face blind whenever i see them, because it's a lot harder for me to immediately distinguish where they're from.

These for example are some of my favorites. Like how Andy's sprite looks genuinely shocked??? How Brian's smile just screams "dudebro fratboy douchebag"??? How Andy's and Lucas's angry faces are so distinct from each other??? Like, angry Lucas looks like "back the fuck off", angry Andy looks like "I'll fuckin kick your ass!!!" and that's what suits their characters
