Still...she name dropped Ike and Elincia. His eye twitched as she mentioned the job the mercenaries had. A story. As if she were from some future land. And then she began to describe...a job she held. A cashier and a cleaner. Interesting...

“The corruption of politicians is a common theme, I would imagine, regardless of where or whence you hail,” he answered slowly. It was a lot to digest if he chose to believe it, which as for right now, he did not. Still...he could try to place a little test to her credibility... “If this is, as you claim, a story you’re already aware of, then answer me a few questions.” He quickly figured a few test questions based on their goals, recent past, and likely future...which admittedly could still be figured out by an observant spy, but still...

“Do you know what we’re doing here, and where we’re going? Or who was the one who discovered Princess Crimea? Or why we have elected to accept said Princess’ job offer?”

Felt like doing some FE related asks so I put together this! Feel free to add more if you have any ideas!

“Horse bladder wrapped in deer skin,“ came his answer to what the waterskin was made of. That was rather common knowledge to anyone who paid attention. Besides that, her behavior and statements, seemed to hint at amnesia being an actual factor in this situation. If she lost her memory, then obviously national names or even famous figures wouldn’t ring any bells with her. But still....her body language hinted at something more. That she was keeping under wraps.

Finally, a name. Shanzira. His thoughts moving a mile a second, he didn’t recognize the name in any books, scrolls, tomes, or records that he’d read, whether in Melior’s library or otherwise. Furthermore, she seemed to not really know how she came to be where she is?

“Our troop found you unconscious just outside of town. We were stopping by for supplies and the like, and decided to take you to a safe location.” He didn’t mention the ship, and made sure not to mention any names. Still, he was drawing a couple minor parallels to Elincia, but there were key differences. For one, the princess knew how she came to be where Rhys found her -- she lost consciousness after escaping an ambush. For another, there was an immediate response to their finding Elincia. Not so much with this Shanzira. At least not yet.

The girl mumbled something or other – likely till asleep – before rolling over and startling herself awake. The mage watched the scene play out with next to no changes in his expression. Confused, perhaps frightened, both expected and apparent responses were what he was watching right now. He blinked slowly.

“You’re in an inn, at Port Toha,” he answered. It…probably wasn’t the wisest course of action to keep her frightened, it would only weigh everyone else down in addition to potentially raising alarms. “You’re in the custody of the Greil Mercenaries.“ He didn’t mention Ranulf or their working on getting a ship available, just in case she was of Daein. At least not yet.

Soren remained sitting, though he did keep his tome at the ready, hidden beneath his robes, in case of any attack, as always. “My commander insisted you be kept safe unless deemed a threat. So I ask again, have you a name?”

Still breathing hard with panic, Shanzira wracked her brains for any reason why this situation could possibly be real. It was certainly not a dream; she had full command of her senses and could see any detail in the room that she cared to focus on, which killed her only plausible idea. What to even do in this situation currently escaped her; if this was indeed real, then wandering around on her own was just about suicidal. Answering his questions… she didn’t trust him by any stretch of the imagination. But it was the best bet she had.

She put a hand to her forehead to cool the nervous heat that a panic attack brought on, then covered her eyes and took some deep breaths. It helped, but she wanted water to better settle herself with. “I– I need a drink and some food. I’ll– I’ll… I’ll answer your questions once– once I’m calm.“ A stuffed animal would truly help, but she wasn’t about to show a soft side here. The fact that she was suffering an attack and visibly shaking was bad enough.

Basically I’m just using the “crap tier” units. My final party is going to look something like this:
