an eternal flame, baby! // semi hiatus

shaking hands are shoved before he swallows hard and steps up to the redhead, being completely silent at first. his eyes scan over his form, taking in the beauty of his partner’s figure. Demyx gives a soft laugh before stepping closer and wrapping his arms around the taller male’s waist, nuzzling against him and taking in a scent he had come to love.

“ h-hey, darlin’… Ha…Happy Valentine’s Day. ”  he holds his breath for a moment before letting go and exhaling slowly. trying to hide the shakiness by clearing his throat.  “ i – um – got something for you… i-it’s not much, but… ”

pulling him down, he presses kiss after kiss to the Axel’s lips while reaching into his pocket and pulling out a small box of chocolates and fox plush before slipping them into the redhead’s hands. after pausing with his kisses, he slips his hands through red locks and smiles before pulling away and covering his face with his hands.

“ i-i love you… ”

he’s not sure why his beloved is so flustered ---- well.. he kind of is. but he doesn’t want Demyx to be upset. he nearly just pulls the little shit in close for a tight hug, but then he’s ushered downwards, swept into a kiss. returning each one as a smile tugs at the corners of his mouth. 

he loves his boyfriend -- more than he could ever quite describe. and he always will. 

at the feeling of something being handed to him, Axel’s eyes open again and he glances down, only for Demyx to pull away now. momentarily, the redhead stares at the gift, his face becoming hot. “ Dem. . . ” 

with one hand, he reaches up to rub the back of his neck, looking off to the side. “ i. . . babe, i love you, too. ” 

he plucks the guitar a bit, getting a good feel of the notes a last time before attempting the melody once again. 

“ swim . .  and sail... smnhmm. .  na-nana na nana. . . stop me on my journey ~ ♪ ”

“ ugh. .  all right, now it’s done. phase one complete, time for. . . phase two. ” 

“ ah ----- fuck! ” 

he groans loudly and briefly lays down the needle and lump of cloth, huffing and soon allowing his face to slump onto his desk. 

when his back hits the wall, Axel gasps, opening his mouth to either yell or demand what the hell is going on. however, he only makes easy access, and as the other’s mouth meets his, his stomach twists with a confused embarrassment he hasn’t felt in a long time. Axel’s arms flinch slightly, almost trying to wriggle free. he doesn’t go through with it though, simply making an attempt to relax. 

looking up from the book in his left hand, he tilts his head at the flustered expression. placing the book down and opening his mouth to ask what’s wrong, he feels Lea grip his finger. his heart begins to beat rapidly as their faces get closer and his cheeks soon turn as red as Lea’s. his shoulders tense before their lips meet and at first, he’s not exactly sure what to think or where this came from, but…

he simply relaxes and closes his eyes before he dares to intertwine their fingers together, kissing back with some form of eagerness. how strange this was, though… not that he was complaining, that is.

a thousand words want to spill from his lips, a hundred things he could only just convey with his voice, the other nine-hundred still a puzzle he’s putting together. his breath becomes shuddery, the warmth of his face nearly too strong to not just pull away and cover it all. oh god, he’s so embarrassed ----- this is all so stupid, what if his friend is just kind of going with it, not even intending to reciprocate? 

oh, but then he does. 

his eyes widen as a soft gasp utters from his lips, for a very short moment thinking an enemy has seized him. looking over his shoulder quickly, he nearly leaps away, fingers twitching with the sensation of his weapons. 

but no, he realizes, it’s not a Heartless, it’s a child. instead of reacting harshly, something tells Axel to react calmly. carefully teasing his coat from between the boy’s fingers, the man turns and then eyes the blue-haired kid. 

he looks familiar. 

“ what the heck’re you doin’, dude? you know this coat can… ruin… ” 

his words trail off to a silent look of shock when he realizes why the kid is familiar, why he had feel the need to respond without anger and impatience. 

“ mm. . ” 

caught staring off again. how many times does that make this? how many times does it make it without being caught? he’s not sure. running from problems instead of facing them head-on seemed to be his strategy often, nowadays at least. 

he feels pretty shitty, now that Demyx has seen, has figured it out, has made a statement on it. at first, the redhead simply grins, kissing the Nocturne’s nose in response.
