Holy CRAP! Itās been 7 years!
Hello tumblr peeps! long time no see! Looking back on this blog itās been 2 years since the last time I posted and 7 SEVEN whole years since I started this weight loss journey. In that time I have grown this personā¦Ā
I was pregnant with her when I wrote my first post⦠but Iāve also grown this whole personā¦
What?
and guess what? I havenāt lost any weight in fact Iāve gained weight. I started this blog at 253lbs and today I weigh 268! But thatās not the highest Ive been, when pregnant with my second baby I tipped the scales at a whopping 300. Seeing that 300 literally made me cry. I tried to brush it off cuz I was pregnant and it was a ROUGH pregnancy but the harsh truth was that I was 300lbs and for 3 years after that pregnancy I floated around in the 290s trying to be healthy without killing my mental health. I ate regular meals, plenty of veggies, went to the gym and tried to be healthy. I even hired a professional nutritionist because I was SO discouraged with my lack of success, and I needed someone to tell me what to do. The nutritionist had me eating 6 small meals a day and recommended low fat, foods with artificial sugars because I told her I'm pre-diabetic. I figured that I wasnāt going to get healthy by swapping fatty junk food for low fat junk food, so one day I just had a melt down... I sat in my room and I cried and I prayed and I asked God to tell me what to do, what to eat and HOW to lose weight and get healthy. I poured my heart out and reflected on all of my feelings my struggles, my hopes, my desire to just BE HEALTHY. It wasnāt forĀ lack of trying. I was TRYING I just had no idea what to do with all of the conflicting information out there. I cried myself to sleep.
The next morning I woke up and got Zoey ready for school and just felt like crap, so I didnāt eat breakfast, and for a few days I just fell into my normal habits of skipping breakfast and eating when/whatever I felt like. Then my brother, out of the blue sent me this video...
While I was watching it, I knew.. and that voice inside me said āthis is the answerā Fasting! It just clicked and made so much sense! Growing up my family regularly did 24 hour fasts as part of our religion, so I started digging and have found such a wealth of information that I never found before in any of my other weight loss attempts.
I did my first 48 hour fast on November 14th and since then have lost 30lbs. I donāt always eat what I should, itās still a struggle, but the scale is finally moving in the right direction and the science just makes sense to me! SO going forward Iād like to share my journey with Fasting, extended Fasts and Intermittent fasts. I got a lot of information from Dr. Jason Fung and Dr. Eric Berg on youtube plus a few other sources Iām not confident sharing yet. I also incorporate a low carb/higher fat/ paleo way of eating.
My goal is to lose 100+ lbs in 2018, gain muscle, and keep diabetes at bay by fixing any insulin resistance I may have and healing myself from the inside out. Welcome to my journey... again!
