Espionage in Alfheim; A Loki×Reader×Fandral: AO3;

Warnings: NONE General friendship; Cannon Divergent; post Ultron; Reader works for Tony as a programmer; 90% sure reader in gender neutral.

Thor helps reader find a bug in a game they’re programming for Steve while they work for Tony.

Working for Tony was a dream come true. I’m housed and paid stupidly well… Though the stress that is added by working with Tony and occasionally Bruce did take it’s tole sometimes. I loved the both of them I really did, they were like the fathers I never had, but they could be demanding especially when it came to fixing bugs in code. With all the mistakes made when Ultron was being made, any time a bug came up with Jarvis, Tony would freak. I would have to constantly remind him that we were able to catch the issues before Ultron became a major issue. Sadly it was still like losing a child to Tony. While a slight rift was torn between him and Steve the two of them were able to bounce back.

Aphantasia is a neurological disorder where someone cannot see images in their minds. There are vering degrees of Aphantasia, from complete blindness to very grainy black ans white images to coloured grany images. I suffer from almost total Aphantasia, I do have moments where I can see things (mostly traumatic events). TOTAL Aphantasia affects between 1-4% of the human population, but what about our Asgardian friends?

Thor can only see grany images that are in colour, unless it's a traumatic event. Then it's crystal clear.

Loki is one of those freak super mind seers. He can see images in his mind with perfect clarity and can even see how to animate things in his head. It's why his illusion magic is so good. (Fucker probably has a photographic memory.)

Fandral can see clear black and white images, movemnet included. (He may be colour blind, haven't decided yet.)

Hogun can see clear images in colour, movement is blured though.

Sif has a hard time seeing images in her mind, but can if she focuses hard enough.

That being said, there are original short stories on my Pateron. It's only 5$ a month to see them and other stuff (including videos of my cats). All of my short storied will eventually have voice overs, so you can listen to them instead... and look at my V-Tuber model. At some point, I might add some educational videos, seeing as I fall down the Wiki rabbit hole every now and again.

Small disclaimer: I don't have the 'tism. HOWEVER, I am around loads of autistic people, and we like to compare and contrast the differences between the 'tism and the ADHD.

Has he been tested, yes. After SHEILD learns that Fandral has the ADHD they test all of the Asgardians. IF Stephen did the scans, Hogun's might look different to him, not different enough to raise suspicion. IF SHEILD did the scan, they probably wouldn't notice, though he would still be tested.

It wasn't a shock to Bruce, Tony, or Stephen. Let's be honest, Bruce has the 'tism as well, and Stephen probably has it too, but since he isn't part of SHEILD he's not getting tested. The diagnosis means nothing to him (Stephen). Tony isn't shocked because he knows Bruce, very well, and a lot of Bruce's issues, Hogun shares, too.

The main one that Bruce and Hogun share is sound adversion. Hogun hates being in the city, he hates riding in cars, he hates going shoping because it's fucking loud to him.

Food textures aren't too much of an issue for Hogun (Bruce has texture issues). It's taste that's an issue. Like I said in my long headcannons post about the W3, Hogun cooks for himself most of the time. This is because he can control how his food is going to taste and what's in it. He also likes Midgard proscessed health foods. Protein powder, granola bars, vegie chips, trail mixes, etc. They are always the same and a go-to for when Hogun doesn't want to deal with cooking on Midgard.

Change is a good way to upset Hogun. This man lives on a schedule. Any interpretation is a massive annoyance. His usual day looks some what like this: he's up at 4 am, working out till 6 am, breakfast at 7 am, training new warriors at 8 am, lunch noon, resting with a book at 1 pm, dinner at 6 pm, hanging out with friends 7 pm, bed at 10 pm. Emergency meetings make him miserable. Getting asked to go out on short notice will result in a no; he needs at least a one week notice (which is hard to get with Fandral and Thor around).

Reading tone and faces is his biggest issue, more so on Asgard than Midgard (Midgardians are more expressive than Asgardians). The other warriors help him with this a lot. Volstagg is really good at reading tone and faces. Depending on how Volstagg reacts dictates how Hogun reacts. He chooses Volstagg for good reason; Volstagg has anxiety, why I haven't figured out just yet. Anxiety can make you really good at reading faces and vocal tones.

Hogun also has touch aversion. This isn't 100% why he's ace/aro, but it does play into it. There is no trauma behind it either. Everyone hugs differently, everyone's temperature is different, and some people just smell bad. Not that Hogun has sent/smell sensitivity, he just doesn't like certin smells.

Clothing textures are a bit of an issue (more so for Bruce). Hogun is used to natural materials, leather, wool, silk, and cotton. He prefers to wear these materials. Some synthetic fabrics he can handle, acrylic sweaters are one, and synthetic silk is another. In day to day dress on Midgard, Hogun dresses like a metal head. Black, gray, navy t-shirt, and dark jeans or genuine natural leather pants; he hates dress slacks and suits. Shoe wise, he will only wear the shoes he has costom made on Asgard.

Social interactions can be stressful. Hogun likes to keep to the edge of a room, preferably near a door. He is the master at the "Irish Goodbye." He'll stay at a party for only as long as necessary. It's not that he doesn't want to socialize, he just knows he's not the best at it, especially on Midgard. His resting bitch face doesn't help any, or the moniker of "The Grim". None of this means that he doesn't want to socialize, he prefers doing so with one of the other warriors around, or one on one with someone. He thinks more logicly than everyone else (yes, Loki included), so if you're looking for a logical solution to something, you go to him. It's not that he doesn't understand emotions, he gets those, he just can't think with emotions.

I don't think it was because of a bunch of people getting suspicious or anything. OR Tony out right pointing at him and saying "That man's problem is Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder! I would know, I have it too." Though, Tony saying this would have Fandral do some research on ADHD. This could be where he learns about why caffeen affects him differently, though I prefer Stephen or Bruse explaining it to him. Why? Because it's a funny thought.

I think they find out from a brain scan. Yes, a brain scan can be used to find ADHD. Now why would Fandral be im an MRI? 1. Well, SHEILD wants information about Asgardians for a reason. OR! Stephen was interested in how different the Asgardian brain is or if All-Speak has a clear neural path way. Either way, this man's brain lights up differently than the others. The brain scans is passed around to different doctors (if SHEILD, I think Stephen would know what ADHD looks like on a scan), until it's shown to a psychologist, who knows. After that the poor guy is forced to he tested. It's important for SHEILD to know if he has ADHD or not. Much to the psychologist distress, it's not a two day process. Fandral's over a thousand years old, there's a lot of background information to get (and SHEILD wants as much of it as possible).

We know they don't have coffee on Asgard. We can assume that they have tea, though. Tea has less caffeine than coffee, 0-70 MG, depending on the brew, coffee 95-200 MG, again depends on the brew (no, I'm not counting decaf coffee, that's not coffee!).

It is simultaneously funny to think that when Thor first tried coffee, he was...

1. Completely unaffected and found out later that he should have an energy increase followed by an energy crash.

2. Completely over ran with energy and was bouncing off the walls, like most of us do after the second or third Monster of the day, before crashing and having to take a nap.

ASSUMING IT'S 1!...

Thor drinks it because he genuinely likes the taste and thus is like me, not sensitive to bitter.

Fandral, doesn't like it at first. Until he's shown the plethora of stuff he can add to it to cut the bitter taste. He's not someone who makes a barista want to quit, just give him the white chocolate caramel one.

Hogun, while doesn't really like the taste, he starts drinking it more as he learns about Midgard Millennial culture. Hogun is the person who asks for his coffee as black as his soul. He secretly likes fueling the fact that people are a little scared of him, keeps the unwanted socializing down.

Loki, is similar to Hogun and Fandral. Loki hates bitter things (I think all Joltun's do), but saying phrases like 'I want my coffee as black as my soul.' and 'More espresso less depresso'. Similar to Fandral, but to more of an extreme, in the adding things to his coffee. Loki is the person that makes Baristas quit, the frappuccino 12 pumps of sweetener, 5 pumps of caramel, 5 pumps of chocolate, half cream, in your biggest cup.

Sif doesn't mind black coffee, she's not as excited about it as Thor, though. Sif sees it more as a way to bond with and seem more human. She usually takes hers with one cream and two sugars.

Volstagg is appalled by coffee. It doesn't matter how much cream and sugar you put into it, he doesn't like it. Things that taste that bitter must be poisonous, and no amount of trying to convince him other wise will work.

ASSUMING 2 IS TRUE!

Thor also genuinely liked the drink, that doesn't change. We just have to concidered if he likes how caffine makes him feel. I'm sure he would quickly figure out that he has more energy after drinking it, but might not know why. Someone would have to explain it to him. While I don't think Thor would be an annoyance with one good cup of coffee. I think after two or three, he would get hella hyper and probably bounce off the walls. Because of this, I think Thor would be careful about how much and when he consumes coffee. He'd probably have a cup in the morning with the others, and that's it.

Fandral, still has to have all the cream, sugar, and extracts, in his coffee. HOWEVER, this guy has the ADHD and gets a different reaction to the drink than the others. The world is now clear for him, his thoughts are slower, he can remember tasks he was told to do... he's well, kinda 'normal', and he kinda hates it. Imagin having ADHD for a thousand years and then suddenly you're kinda 'normal'. It would confuse the hell out of you, and it confuses the hell out of Fandral. Though, he would use it to his advantage; gotta go to a SHEILD meeting? Cup or two of coffee. Got a long time consuming task that requires all attention? Coffee. I do think he would look for an answer to this. IDK who would give it to him, Bruce, he's a chemist, right? Or Stephen. I don't think this would immediately raise SHEILD's suspicion of Fandral having ADHD, but at some point, he does get tested.

Loki, still hates coffee, until he learns about the energy boost he can get from it. This would be the only way Loki would ever condition himself to liking black coffee. He would still say the funny Millennial sayings around coffee... he probably gets really engrossed in coffee culture and becomes a coffee snob.

Volstagg, after learning that it gives an energy boost, still won't touch it. Though he's more understanding of why people consume it.

Sif and Hogun, nothing changes. Go back to 1. It's the same. Sif drinks coffee to seem more human, caffine be damned. Hogun just avoids it at night.

So, like, does our boy not like the cold or is he the only one who realized that Joltunheim is really fucking cold and it's best to have something to keep you warm? I mean, both could be true. If you don't like the cold on Asgard it could only be worse in Joltunheim.

Thor clearly has a hard time with metaphors; I think all of them do, to be honest. Sif and Fandral are the best at hiding their confusion and figuring it out on their own; if they can't figure it out, they will ask someone. Sif will ask Coulson. Fandral will ask Loki if he's available. Volstagg and Hogun will show their confusion and ask for elaboration at a later date, usually asking Sif or Thor.

The "fuck" word also causes some confusion, less so with Thor. It takes the others a bit of time for them to understand that fuck can be places anywhere in a sentence and even longer to learn how to place in in a word (like, fan-fucking-tastic). Hogun won't use the fuck word. Volstagg and Thor will, as long as it isn't around children. Volstagg is usually out of surprise, while Thor says it because it makes him seem more Midgardian. Sif will say it around children and only uses it to get a point across. Fandral, on the other hand, is quite fond of the word. He has to be reminded that he's not supposed to say it around kids.

On the note of swearing, really only Fandral swears in day to day speach. On Asgard, he has more control over it because it isn't a normal thing to swear around ladies. On Midgard, where swearing is pretty normal, he swears a lot more (and is more comfortable swearing around ladies who also swear), which honestly is a normal amount. The others don't feel as bad about swearing here unless theirs kids are around.

Hogun is the only one who struggles with spoken words like blue and blew, and their they're and there. You know words that sound the same. The others did at first but quickly learned how to pick the word definitions depending on the sentence.

In a similar vein, Fandral and Thor struggle with written words like record and record, your words that are spelled the same but pronounced differently. Thor solves this issue by reading out loud, Fandral, how ever cannot, it makes paper work rather difficult for him sometimes.

Loki, tends to not have any issues with Midgard English speaking. He reads a lot and is good at speaking in metaphor and figuring them out. Whether this is due to his magic helping him or his childhood days of slipping off to Midgard we'll never know.
