Not to sound anti vegan but what is one ecological function performed by roaches because I’m not entirely sure we need them

they’re a part of the food chain & they help with the breaking down of forest-floor discarded foliage (cockroaches feed on fallen leaves/discarded branches and bark, and are then fed on in turn by everything from other insects to birds & small mammals)

Ain’t no forest floor discarded foliage in my house tho so why they here

can’t explain it but the kitchen is the most romantic room in a house

methinks….people underestimate how makeup is an actual real psychological trauma and im not being hyperbolic. being incapable of seeing your bare face in the mirror w/o being shook to your core and spiralling into a chain of negative emotions that ruins the rest of ur day? viscerally fearing being observed w/o makeup so much it informs how and when and IF you dare to move in public spaces? how many women fear intimate relationships bc they cant stomach the thought of someone seeing them w/o makeup? being so alienated from your own body that either exposing it or being exposed to it renders u depressed disturbed and disgusted sounds like textbook trauma responses to me

this post shot me in the stomach with a sawed off shotgun.

for real though, if you're nonblack and you can't see how much higher the bar is set, how much extra shit black women and afab people get for their appearance - you're not paying attention. the pressure to lighten their skin, "act" and dress white, straighten their hair, get cosmetic surgery, keep nails and eyelashes and eyebrows and hair always done just to meet the basic standards of femininity, the expectation that they perform hyperfemininity in order to "make up" for their blackness, the heavy policing and fetishization of their sexuality.......black women deal with shit the rest of us can't even imagine, and we don't talk about it enough, and that's unacceptable.
