Genuinely, one of the measures that's stopped book banning the most when districts implement it, is having the would-be banners fill out a form that demonstrates if they've read the book or not. Like where they have the summarize the plot and characters and do a mini book report and give a review. It stops them in their tracks. This is why in my high school, every time someone wanted to ban a book it ended up going nowhere. There was one where a conservative student wanted to ban the manga "Legal Drug" for having a marijuana leaf on the cover, then got the form that required them to actually read and either balked, or read it and realized it was not pro-drug at all. (The other one that reduces book bans even further is "requiring the would-be banner to be affiliated with this actual school in some way, either by being a student, faculty/staff or a parent of a child at the school" because the vast majority of bans are "activists" with no affiliation with the school who just travel around trying to do this in districts all over the U.S. IIRC a few years ago someone crunched the numbers and just 51 parents were responsible for all the book bans that year nationally. 51! In a country with 50 states, with over 300 million people total!)

actually the sanitization of lesbian media is because of transmisogyny. every backslide you've percieved in acceptance and equality is because of the rise of transmisogyny. free the nipple. marriage rights. clothing options. bathrooms. its all because of this big bioessentialist conservative puritan push to try to erase trans women from society and specifically lesbianism. you cannot leave us behind and expect a better world.
so a few weeks ago i reported a very obvious terf. a new account otherwise entirely empty at the time, the most terfy terf to ever terf, having terf in the username, and being openly transphobic, transmisogynistic, and saying slurs: (there's more to the post but you get the gist)
and this was the response from tumblr support:
someone At Tumblr @support looked at this, presumably read it in full, and decided that it's fine but maybe they should put a content label ??? content warning for bigotry ???
There Is Someone (Or Multiple People) In Tumblr Support Right Now Who Openly Endorses Transphobia And Transmisogyny But Will Terminate Transfems' Blogs For Literally No Reason Given. At This Point It Might Even Be Unofficial Site Policy To Allow Twerfs But Nuke Transfems' Blogs
they said the same thing to me when I reported a terf community with terf in the name consisting of nothing but posts mocking and dehumanizing trans women and they said the same thing to me when I reported multiple people making explicit death threats towards my friend
any report against a transfem or harassment target gets clear priority, facing much harsher and swifter punishment for much less, if they've even done anything at all, while the people stalking and harassing take weeks to face little to no punishment and get to appeal it all away regardless

In light of recent events, I have begun submitting bug reports when I see mature content labels applied inappropriately to posts, especially if an appeal has been rejected.
Extremely good idea - how are you doing it? Through the contact us option?
Yeah it’s one of the options on the Contact Support form:
for what it's worth: after a few months of submitting help tickets as 'feedback' when i saw a post inappropriately flagged as mature, i tried following this suggestion instead. today i got my first-ever response from tumblr support on this issue, letting me know that a post i'd submitted a ticket before has had its mature content flag removed.
Hey it worked! Maybe if enough of us make a stink they’ll fix the fucking system.
This is legitimately brilliant. Bug burndown reports (the rate at which your software team can close bugs) is a major metric for most software houses.
It takes an extra step in our part, but this is part of what makes it effective. It's not one click, one reblog activism and it hits them where they care: their damn KPIs.
LMAOOOO
"I have a problem with my trans son. Not because he's trans, but because he inhaled all our food like fucking Kirby."
A new CAPTCHA scam tricks users into running malware that steals personal data. Learn how to spot the fake pages before it’s too late.
Added the article just for extra explanation :P stay safe yall (if you saw me fuck this up No you didn't)
This is why we need computer labs again. Looking at the fake Captcha, it asks you first to click "Win+R." Win+R opens the Run program, pictured here:
It has a lot of uses, as described in its own window, but the average layperson will most often use it when following troubleshooting advice found on the internet.
The fake Captcha then asks you to press "Ctrl+V." Ctrl+V is a shortcut to paste a series of characters that you've copied or cut from somewhere. Undoubtedly before this Captcha, it has asked you to use "Ctrl+C" (copy) or "Ctrl+X" (cut) on another series of characters, which temporarily saves that series of characters onto a Clipboard. By pressing Win+V, you can access your Clipboard and turn on the ability to see its history.
By asking you to paste into this box, they are getting you to run a program on your computer in a way that appears unfamiliar to you, so you will be less aware that that's what's happening. Because double-clicking a program is something you may know better than to do, but using Run and copy+paste shortcuts is something you may not be familiar with.
Please be aware of the buttons that you can press and what they do. These scams rely on you being ignorant, but ignorance is easily fought back against.

seeing "protect the action figures" as a response to "Protect the dolls" is maybe the most insulting thing I've ever seen, to both trans men and trans women.
First of all, the term "protect them dolls" exists because trans women, and especially trans women of color, are killed disproportionally. you are literally "all lives matter"-ing this. Secondly, can we stop this stupid fucking trend of giving gay/trans men the worse version of something that already exists for women?
I still remember having to explain to a lesbian that the term sapphic comes from a real poet who was a lesbian and had droves of love poems about women and is so influential her home is what lesbians are named after and "acheillian" comes from a guy from a story who might've fucked his friend.
"The mlm flag is only so ugly because its the lesbian flag but with boy colors" ok well that's lame as fuck actually
Literally !! get ur hands off my things get ur own !!!
hey thank you so much for these tags @killrockstar because this is literally it
