Later it was said, that she came from sea, partying the deep waters before her mighty steed.
Later, they spoke of the wind that brought her to the broken land, where she looked for salvation for its people and herself.
Later, hushed voices whispered about fallen star, from which crater she emerged like a newly birthed god.
Those who witnessed it and heard such tales only smiled, but didn't comment. They knew the truth was much more interesting than any tale sprung by drunkards in the tavern or maidens on the market.

A commission done for a friend of his boy Gregor from Lords of the Fallen
Morgott, the Grace-Given | Boss Designs of Elden Ring #18
There is a dying city, choking on dust, and a veiled king on its throne. He sits and begs, like a dog for table scraps, that the Erdtree may open up its arms and love him; it never will, it never would.
Morgott was a tough cookie to try and do an analysis on, in no small part because I don't think I've seen enough of the game to fully get my head around him yet. Trying to pick a lens and an angle to analyze him through was kinda like pulling teeth, but hopefully Elden Ring will give me a few more opportunities to touch on some of the other aspects of his character as we go through.
As ever, if you enjoy this series, word-of-mouth and sharing is immensely helpful. The YouTube algorithm isn't exactly falling over itself to push 2-hour let's play / video essay hybrids right at the moment.
Little sketch inspired by Clair Obscure Ending - A life to love

please... if youâre going to attempt to speak in âoldâ english
THOU is the subject (Thou artâŚ) THEE is the object (I look at thee) THY is for words beginning in a consonant (Thy dog) THINE is for words beginning in a vowel (Thine eyes)
this has been a psa
Also, because H was sometimes treated as a vowel when the grammar rules for thou/thee/thy/thine were formed,THINE can also be used for words beginning with H. For example, both âthy heartâ and âthine heartâ appear in Elizabethan poetry.
For consistency, however, if youâre saying âthine eyesâ, make sure you also say âmine eyesâ instead of âmy eyesâ.
Further to the PSA:
Thou/thee/thine is SINGULAR ONLY.
Verbs with âthouâ end in -st or -est: thou canst, thou hast, thou dost, thou goest. Exception: the verbs will, shall, are, and were, which add only -t: thou wilt, thou shalt, thou art, thou wert.
Only in the indicative, though â when saying how things are (âThou hast a big noseâ). Not in the subjunctive, saying how things might be (âIf thou go thereâŚâ) nor in the imperative, making instructions or requests (âGo thou thereâ).
The -eth or -th ending on verbs is EXACTLY EQUIVALENT TO THE -(e)s ENDING IN MODERN ENGLISH.
I go, thou goest, she goeth, we go, ye go, they go.
If you wouldnât say âgoesâ in modern English, donât say âgoethâ in Shakespearean English.
âGoeth and getteth me a coffeeâ NO. KILL IT WITH FIRE.
Usually with an imperative you put the pronoun immediately after the verb, at least once in the sentence (âGo thouâ / âGo yeâ).
YE is the subject (Ye areâŚ). YOU is the object.
Ye/you/your is both for PLURALS and for DEFERENCE, as vous in French.
Thereâs more, but thatâll do for now.
Oh wow. Reblogging for reference.
also âthouâ is familiar. donât have people saying it to strangers or superiors. except god. god is thou
Fun fact.
For me as a German this has always been relatively easy to remember and apply. Because we had the SAME forms. Well, almost.
We have a distinction between a familiar and formal âyouâ, which is the same grammatical person as thou/you were.
Ich, du, er/sie/es -> I, you, he/she/it
Wir, ihr, sie -> we, you, they
In old German, âduâ was familiar, and doesnât it sound a lot like âthouâ? And âihrâ was formal. Today, we still have the distinction, but the formal address has shifted from âihrâ to âsieâ, plural.
Our pronouns also get declined according to the cases. Du, dir, dein, dich Thou, thy, thine⌠and accusative is the same as nominative, thou.
As you can see, pretty similar.
And then the verb conjugation. Itâs also almost the same, with second person singular also ending in -st.
Du hast - thou hast
Du gehst - thou goest
Du kannst - thou canst
Theyâre even almost or exactly the same words!
Early modern English (the Shakespearean English) is still closer to German than todayâs English. A lot of the grammatical structure and the pronunciation were still closer to the common root.
Esquie, mon ami!
Welcome, honoured guest!
