The boys trying to get home after a good night on the town.

There's a feralness to Killer that makes Kidd heart race every time he watches the boy pick up a knife

One day, he wonders if Killer will forget who he is; if Kidd will just be another body in the massacres he leaves behind. Standing over him now, expression and thoughts lost behind blood drenched hair, blade in hand. He had had two; one now broken in the skull of the man who'd grabbed Kidd in the first place.

Kidd moves slow, makes sure he's projecting his moves, nothing that might startle his friend.

Sometimes, Killer takes a bit to come back.

Kidd gets a far as standing, his knee screaming when he puts weight on it. Killer's studying him, the slow tilt of his head, until Kidd sees a glint of blue under shifting bangs. The corners of his lips twitch, and Kidd sighs in relief.

"You certainly enjoyed making an entrance" Kidd snarked, testing the waters.

Killer chucked, his wrist rotating like he just remembering he was armed; he wiped the blood off on his jeans, sheathing it at his belt as he moved forward to check Kidd over. His knee was fucked, and he'd have a hell of a shiner later, but didn't seem to have a concussion, internal bleeding or anything broken - besides maybe his kneecap. "Just trying to match your energy."

He'd carry Kidd out on his back; Kidd maybe the only person on the planet he'd trust at his back. It puts them both at risk, but Killer thinks him worth it, and Kidd slumped in his hold, exhausted.

He drifted, Killer's sure footing hardly jostling him at all as he darted down side streets and back alleys. But something caught his attention when Killer stopped to watch the flow of traffic, to recalculate a route home. Kidd, slumped against Killer, head resting on the older boy's shoulder, caught their reflection in the windows across the way.

There weren't many red heads on Kutzk. Kidd was pretty sure he wasn't the only one, but he'd never met any of the others. His pale skin and vibrant hair sticking out like a sore thumb. He didn't tan, he just burned if he was in the sun too long.

Killer tanned. And even if it was dirty, his blond hair wasn't anything special; You can’t throw a rock without hitting a dozen other urchins that could be his cousin for all they knew.

But right now, soaked in the blood of those who crossed Kidd...

no sketches today, but i have some repeating/tiling images that i made for my dreamwidth and if they are something you think you'd use, they are up for grabs. they are made to tile with no seams for backgrounds or whatnot.
