One of my favorite reoccurring jet lag the game bits is when ben and adam are separated for any reason and one of them is like “I bet he’s doing [X] right now,” and then it immediately cuts to the other one who is, in fact, doing that very thing right now. Or when they are somehow both doing the same thing at the same time without knowing it, a lá their simultaneous snack zones in S15E3. They’re like if merry and pippin were in a saw trap of their own creation and having the time of their lives
babe wake up ao3 came up with the only funny april fools joke in the history of the world
The blog post is pretty great too.

happy trans day of visibility to all the trans folks out there. to the dolls. to the trans people of colour. to the fat trans people. to the hairy trans people. to the trans mascs who present feminine and the fems who present masculine. to the trans people opressed by the binary present even within queer culture. to the trans people who feel dysphoria, and those who don’t. to the ones who aren’t out for their own safety. to the ones who aren’t out to themselves. to the trans people in warzones and facing genocide. to the trans people whose basic rights and humanity is constantly up for debate. to the ones that are still alive despite it all. happy trans day of visibility to you

my ama question is because i was always curious about whether theres ever gonna be an oliver playlist. hes the only character without one, but if not which song/songs do you think would absolutely have to be on there? i cannot for the life of me pin it down. if were talking about phantom pulse, would oliver LIKE the phantom pulse songs??
ooh very interesting question! he's definitely not the only one who doesn't have one - agent green also doesn't have one (just one song: "a day in the life" by the beatles) and neither does sadie or ben
and all these characters, except agent green, have something in common: I didn't first create them! oliver was created by the incredible Caitlin Schneiderhan, and sadie and ben were created by the brilliant Meghan Fitzmartin and Briggon Snow. making a playlist is usually something I do before putting a character on paper, so I just never got into that process with these guys!
all that said, I certainly have opinions - playlists are always a mix of music that reminds me of the characters and music I think they would like, so in terms of music oliver would like...well, he canonically loves Carly Rae Jepsen. and I think that's pretty indicative - I think he likes pop-y pop (I do think he'd love Sabrina Carpenter) but then I think he also likes music pre-80s. everything from Sam Cooke to Ella Fitzgerald to dad rock.
which is all to say, I do not think he'd like Phantom Pulse at all lol
(also, bc this happened while I was AMA-ing - we hit our 17k goal!! if you back in the next 8 minutes, you'll be one of the folks who gets a guitar pick!)
If I didn’t have @thelaurenshippen ‘s Christmas gift done maybe I would make her an Oliver Ritz playlist because I have Opinions™️ (did I write him as essentially the love child of Lauren and Caitlin, two of the smartest people I love with my whole ass heart? Maybe…)
Hello! I just wanted to know if the podcast would open to essay submissions in the future. Listening to the Mary Sue episode and I feel inspired
Hi jayalaw! Fantastic to hear that, thank you! 😍 (For anyone who missed our most recent essay, @megfitz89 on her new indie comic Mary Sue, it's here!) We are absolutely open to pitches—I'm mapping out the schedule for the early months of next year, and I would love a few more pieces in the works.
General info for anyone interested in pitching us: Fansplaining publishes longform reporting, analysis, personal essays, or some combination of the three on fan culture topics, aimed at a fairly fandomy audience. If anyone has a pitch they think might be right for us, please send it our way: fansplaining at gmail dot com!

This very exciting episode welcomes author @megfitz89 as a guest! Listen to us discuss Meghan's new comic series, delve into her fandom history and her work as an author. We had the pleasure of discussing sexism and misogyny in fandom/fanfiction, the stories and fandoms shaped us in our teenage years, and the importance of horniness in our stories.
Fic discussed in this episode:
"Search for the Lost Ones (Guardians of Light)," by Jensfire (Star Wars)
Other media referenced:
"Mary Sue," by Meghan Fitzmartin, Lisa Sterle (Issue #1)

What would you do if your Mary Sue popped out of your fic? Cassie calls on the Greek Choir of fandom friends while her Mary Sue Jessica experiences a new AU - reality!
Y'all, comics are so full of dudes and dude stories and so much of the marketing power and the marketing money and the marketing dollars go to proving their own bias right -- that only men in their 30s-50s read comics.
And that's not true. Comics are for everyone. That's what this book represents to me. And a chance to prove men wrong 😂

Do you love 90s rock, queer found family, ghosts, and also fiction podcasts? Well, do we have a show for you!
From the creator of The Bright Sessions comes a thrilling new original rock audio drama. Phantom Pulse is the story of a 90s rock band going out on their very first tour. But this band isn't like any other–they don’t just play music, they exorcise ghosts with it.
Phantom Pulse is currently crowdfunding for their first season. You can give to the Kickstarter now and get exclusive, limited edition merch, early access to the show, and much more.
The five band members are being played by truly incredible actors: Nicholas Podany, Erika Ishii, Briggon Snow, Juliana Gutiérrez Arango, and Erin Caesar. And the creative team is made up of audio drama veterans: Lauren Shippen, Ella Watts, Evan Cunningham, and Brandon Grugle.
If you believe in original, queer art that is earnest and inclusive, but also messy and dramatic, please consider giving to our Kickstarter!!!
and if you can't support monetarily, please reblog THIS post and help us hit our community goals!!
