And as for Saedii: I have a lot of thoughts on Tyler and Saedii’s relationship. I think it’s desperation and sexual attraction that brings them together. The telepathy, too—they are literally in each other’s minds, and they are both young adults full of sex hormones stuck in captivity together while the galaxy is ending. Not to mention that they were enemies to begin with, and Saedii only began to consider Tyler an equal after she threw him in a pit alone to fight a drakkan, and he killed the drakkan. She’s impressed with his strength and survival, and he’s impressed with hers. They definitely admire each other as leaders and find each other “hot”, but I wouldn’t equate this to romantic attraction, even if Kaufman and Kristoff intended it to be. There’s just always something missing—something that we see with Auri and Kal, Scarlett and Fin, and even Zila and Nari that we don’t see with Tyler and either of his love interests. I’d love to have direct quotes to back up my argument, but this is it for tonight.
