The other reason is because my husband got laid off last year February and his new job is commission only in the mortgage industry, which has been depressed for months (thanks in large part to Trump's economy) and we've had to borrow money from family to avoid going broke. That kind of thing can pull a person away from their hobbies.

The positive news is that husband's income is slowly but surely going up, and in the meantime slacker 19-year old son finally has a job and can contribute, and best of all I got a new job that I really enjoy.

I'm now the Assistant Manager at the box office for the local university's performing arts center. So I get to be around students and artists all day and to support the local arts community while earning a higher wage than I've ever had in my life (that's not really a stretch when you take into account my 20 years as a trad-wife, but still a pretty cool accomplishment).

Anyway, tonight is gonna be crazy because Yo-Yo Ma is performing at a sold out show at our largest venue, but I'm feeling happy and accomplished and fully embracing my new midlife career.

Plus I'm feeling happy enough to make more art, which makes me even happier. So good stuff all around.

Anyway, here's a couple of small sculptures I made.

His kids growing up fatherless

His wife's life-long trauma after getting sucked into the world of political cultism along with her husband.

The students, employees, and community members dealing with lasting trauma from being caught in an active shooter event.

I also hated my own fear and helplessness while I waited to hear from my oldest daughter who attends and works at the university where the shooting took place.

I hate that she and her coworkers at the campus daycare had go into lockdown and hide in a bathroom for 2 hours with a class full of two year olds, and had to keep the kids calm by making up stories about hiding from Halloween ghosts who showed up early.

I hate that she will now have to deal with that trauma every time she goes on campus.

And I hate all the fucking hypocrites that are mocking or celebrating this act of political violence.

If you oppose gun violence, you need to oppose ALL gun violence. Period.
